Lina | 5563 comments RLftCI: ~ Just Wing It! - JULY ~

This month, where so many will be celebrating freedom and independence, not to mention taking it easy during the summer season, we're leaving it up to you!
A lot of us have had reading slumps this year and just can't seem to get into our challenge reads... So why not create your own challenge, or just read and wing it? But before you get to thinking we'll be making this too easy, here are a few rules:

1) You MUST read SIX (6) books in July that will count towards this challenge.
2) At least FOUR (4) of those books need to form some kind of pattern, or meet an identified criteria. For example: I could read 4 books from a certain series, a certain author, or even just all having the same colour or item on the cover.
3)Re-reads are NOT allowed for this one. Sorry ladies!
4) Two books can be counted as Reader's Choice, and don't need to follow the pattern/ criteria.
5) Please update your progress IN A NEW POST. I'll be posting progress updates every Sunday and usually only check new posts from my last update.

*Some ideas:
You can identify what your pattern will be now, or leave it until you've read a few books this month and see what pattern/category they might fall under.

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

Example:
Nude or Rude (colours or people)
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman Connections by Selena Kitt Tender Mercies by Kitty Thomas When God Was a Rabbit by Sarah Winman Breaking Free (Masters of the Shadowlands, #3) by Cherise Sinclair Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Me, too! I've actually found a few more.

And Jenny, I think I have the same bundle. It's been on there for awhile. I'm trying to make sure I read some of those books I've collected on my kindle every month.

message 18: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I'm going to see what theme emerges. One always does. One month I had so many "G"s! It was downright weird. That was in October, so I spelled G.G.G.G.G.G.H.O.S.T.!

message 19: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I'd love to participate. Not sure yet what I'm reading in July so this might actually help me decide. Will post my choices soon.

message 29: by Lara (new)

Lara | 2335 comments I'm in too. And I'll also have to think about it. I'm moving form one state to another in July, so am limiting my challenge participation. This one is fun, though, so I hope to complete it.

message 30: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I was thinking a hilghlander theme or a Nalini Singh theme but I just finished Sweet Dreams and hated the hero and his domineering ways. So I might do a "women rule" theme just to get the bad taste out! If I can find enough books with kick ass heoines who don't bend. I might add some dominuatrixes too. We'll see!

Yes if I can find enough books, it seems in most books even if the heroine is kick ass the hero is a more of an ass hat!! Do you have any suggestions?

I got something Velvet Submission (Club Velvet Ice, #3) by Violet Summers a dominitrix

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Count me in!!! Pressing the pause button and will be back to post my theme and books :)

I did see this beautiful blue book but unfortunately I can't read it in July:={. But it seems to be the popular book for the month! I've only read one Jeaniene Frost book so far and liked it. This one looks good.

Hmm, I don't think I've read too many dominatrix books, but will have a hut around for you... Does it need to be Erotica specifically, shosho? I can think of a few PNRs that have kickass heroines

message 38: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Welcome to the challenge Robin and Midu!

message 39: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments No that's exactly the problem, I don't want them to be erotica!what are thr pnrs you have in mind?

message 40: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments The Kate Daniels series comes to mind. The hero can be a bit of an asshat in the first book, but completely drool-worthy from the second book on.
Some of the Psy-Changeling series have great kick-ass heroines and emotive men *sigh*.
Eve Dallas, if you haven't already gone through the In-Death series by J.D. Robb.
And Cat from Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series.

Does any of that help?

message 41: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments BTW Shosho, are you getting this beautiful sunshine in Brissie? How good is it??!

message 42: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Yes Thanx.
I've read all the night huntres series books, but in-death series is a great idea, I've read only the first three.A couple of them will be on my list.
I'll be reading book 8 & 9 in Psy-Changeling series in July. So here we go I've got my list. Thanks CaroB.
I'll put it together later today

Bookcrazy | 327 comments The blue books theme looks awsome.

I'm thinking about a theme about fairies (paranormal creatures - no vamps)
or animals on covers.

message 48: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments looks great shosho! Updated you.

Bookcrazy, I had to laugh how you had to validate that fairies would NOT include vamps :-)

message 49: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Thanks, Bookcrazy! It does look pretty:=}} And I have to say that I love some of the themes I'm seeing on here! Kick-Ass heroines and fairies without vamps are both awesome. And I could read an entire month of highlander novels and never get tired (or run out!)

message 50: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments mmm.. highlanders! ... *scurries off to check her TBR shelf*
