If anyone want an interesting historical account of the emergence of foriensics as pertaining to the chemical analysis of poisons read The Poisoner' Handbook. If you want to be scared out of your wits about where we are headed medically in the effectiveness of perscription drugs then read The Coming Plague.

Hi everyone, I'm a writer (mainly scripts) and a prolific reader. I discovered Oliver Sacks years ago and have read several of his books, including The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat & Other Clinical Tales, An Anthropologist on Mars: Seven Paradoxical Tales I've also just readIncognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain,on perception and problems that can develop. Jessica, thanks for your suggestions. This looks like a quiet group!
He is amazing. :) Funny enough I wrote a review of one of his books just before you sent this and put I LOVE Oliver Sacks. :D I think you'll like Incognito too. It's very readable like Sachs and it was published last year, so is up to date.
I'll try and remember to look that up afterwards. You're one of these people who don't do links? :/ It sounds very interesting. I'm actually reading a manuscript of a novel for a friend at present, and a book that's competely off-topic for this group - Physics Of The Future: How Science Will Shape Human Destiny And Our Daily Lives By The Year 2100 You might find it interesting though. :)
