We're growing faster than I ever expected. With the rush of new members, especially new writers who are eager to help out and get involved, I thought I'd extend an invitation for those want to help out with the Underground Genre's "official" launch.

We've got a group of talented and eager writers who are putting some of their books up for free July 1st and 2nd, and discounted July 3rd and 4th for the "Winds of Change" promotion. While it's a bit late to get other books into this event, writers and bloggers can help out by hosting interviews, shout outs, and/or guest posts on their blogs, twitter feeds, and/or Facebook pages.

Writers involved in "Winds of Change" are:
M Todd Gallowglas
Christopher Kellen
A.E. Marling
Robert Eaton
M.D. Kenning
Stephen E. Moore
Dave Meek

Feel free to contact any of us. Please don't be offended if we can't get everyone involved, just like we won't be offended if it's too short notice for any of you to fit us in. We'll have more events in the future, and from everyone that's expressed interest, it's looking like those are going to be epic and awesome.

Several of us have talked it over (by that, I mean bounced some emails back and forth) and we're opening our Winds of Change promotion to all writers interested in being part of the Genre Underground... Sort of...

Please read this whole post before you get really excited about jumping on board. There are some very specific things we're going to ask of writers who want to be involved.

You won't be in the "official" promotion, won't get your books displayed on our group page, and won't get listed in with the "official" books on Amazon. However, you will get some exposure for your book.

What we expect of writers in the Winds of Change event: Promote other writers more than yourself. The Genre Underground is not a place for us to spam links to our own work and drive up our sales. We are here to serve the wonderful community that is Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror fans. If you can get behind that, we welcome you. If you just want to talk about how awesome your book is, then there are other groups out there which might be a better fit for you.

Okay, you can live with that and still want to be involved? Here's what you do:

On July 1st and 2nd, your book must be FREE! It can be with a Smashwords coupon code as Robert Eaton is doing with The Hero Always Wins, or list it for free if you are in Amazon's KPD Select program.

On July 3rd and 4th, price your book(s) at $.99 if you want to keep them in the promotion and continue getting support from other Genre Underground writers. This is not necessary - Both Stephen Moore and I will be listing only one of our titles at $.99 the second half of the event, and we understand that those books will not be supported by the Genre Underground those two days.

Post your books and their links in this thread so that other authors can see them and give you some shout outs, recommendations and tweets. We'll be using the hashtag #WindsOfCHange on twitter. Let's light it up with free and discounted books. We're off to a great start here on Goodreads, let's let other Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror lovers know what we're up too...and get them some free and discounted books. We'll build up everyone's readership.

We can support our fellow writers by clicking "like" on their book's Amazon pages and agreeing with the tags at the bottom of the page. The more we support each other, and more importantly, the more we serve our readers, the more we all succeed.

If you decide to step up and join us for this insane whirlwind event, please remember: Promote unto others as you would have them promote unto you.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.

Welcome to the Genre Underground!

Nels (nelswadycki) I've set up my KDP promo for my book: http://amzn.to/ValkyrieProject and put the price at $.99 so it'll be there after the free promo.

Still have one more day of free promo to use before July 18th when I expand to other markets...

Sandy (sandynathan) | 2 comments Hi, everyone! Do I ever feel late for the party! I stumbled upon the Winds of Change promotion, "bought" a bunch of the books (Gave Stalker Squadron some love, M. Todd) Now to start reading. My review policy is that I only give 5 star reviews (though I broke that the other day). But I only review books that I can HONESTLY give 5 stars. So I read (or start) more books than I buy.

I'm the author of 6 books, ranging from spirituality nonfiction, to juvenile nonfiction. I've just finished a sci-fi /fantasy / visionary fiction series. All 3 books are available now. I would have loved to be part of the promotions. Next time . . .

Glad to meet y'all! Sandy Nathan
The Angel & the Brown-Eyed Boy
Sandy Nathan The Angel is the first of the series, Lady Grace and Sam & Emily are 2 & 3.

Welcome Sandy. Nice to have you stop buy and picking up our books. Not to worry, we'll have plenty of promotions and events yet to come.

And thanks for giving Dave Meek some love. He's the news Indie writer out of the group of us.

Sandy (sandynathan) | 2 comments I'm glad to have found you. Actually, I already belonged to the group, but I seldom log-on to Goodreads. I try to limit on-line activity due to its addictive potential. But finding my way here feels providential, all the way around.

Blessings and good luck all!
