Stacey It's my turn to pick a book for my book group. I'm thinking The Dovekeepers or Father of the Rain. Any suggestions that sparked a good discussion or you think would?

Gretchen (gkonkler5) I haven't read either but I'd lean toward Father of the Rain.

Wish I had suggestions but I'm so far behind the loop in what's current that the last book that I read that was "book group" worthy is Still Alice.

haha, that IS a good one! I'd love to read Sleep Toward Heaven again. I remember loving it. I loved it so much I kept it for my bookshelf. I noticed that no one in the group has read it.

Caroline (caro7) Have you read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks? That is supposed to be a good one for a book club. Also, I loved The Secret History and can see that being another good choice as well as Little Children or Midwives. A good nonfiction choice might be Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith.

Caroline (caro7) Oh, and my book club recently read Doc and The Tale of Halcyon Crane. I didn't participate those months, so I haven't read them yet, though.

Mary | 236 comments How about John Green's The Fault in Our Stars? Sleep Toward Heaven would also be a good reread for you and first read for your group.

I've read Sleep Toward Heaven. Loved it! Cant believe I didn't keep it. Must have been in a PBS induced coma or something.

Leslie | 95 comments I loved Sleep Towards Heaven and have read it every few years. The Fault in our Stars sounds good too. I'm still waiting on that at the library! Dovekeepers is on my list too. I did not have time to read it when it came in last time.

Theresa Stacey: Of the two you listed, I'd choose Father of the Rain for a discussion. From these other suggestions, I'd be wild about Sleep Toward Heaven.
