I've read vgcats, or at least a few of them friends sent me. They're pretty funny. :)

I've never read any of these. I'm a little surprised at myself: I read so many webcomics...I have heard of Brawl in the Family. Maybe I should read it. I like the look of Alex's Guide, too. I love journal comics!

I've read Misfile and VG Cats before. I stopped reading Misfile when I realized that the story wasn't really going anywhere. I don't keep up with VG Cats, either. There are so many pop culture references that I don't get :/

(Before it stopped updating) I read Hanna is Not a Boy's Name. Now I read Awkward Zombie, All Roses Have Thorns (mildly NSFW), Widdershins, and Wake the Sleepers, as well as a few yaoi comics, but I don't want to offend anyone by posting them.

Also, I used to read VG cats, and loved it. Kind of got frustrated with the updating though, so I don't keep up with it much anymore.

That's sort of what happened to me with Megatokyo as well. ^^;;; While it updated regularly, sometimes it was "Lazy art day" stuff that wasn't a comic.

I liked Hanna is Not a Boy's Name a lot. I wish it hadn't stopped updating :( Widdershins is also a favorite of mine: it has a lot of very interesting characters. You can put up your yaoi if you want, so long as you label it if it is not safe for work ;)

I don't really mind when comics don't update. I understand that things come up sometimes that you can't really control. I just wish that they would let you know...

I don't know if there is a regional limitation to what you consider webcomics, but I['m really enjoying enjoying some of the Korean offerings:Noblesse, Orange Marmalade, Crepscule, TAL, Supernatural Investigation Department, etc.

There is no regional limitation on the webcomics in this group. If it is online and a comic, it counts!

Luther Levy is the star of Family mand and he is a religious scholar living in the mid-18th century. He is also a werewolf. It's by Dylan Meconis, who also wrote Bite Me! which is a vampire parody of A Tale of Two Cities. XKCD and Hijinks Ensue are geeky, Loading Artist is a gag comic and the rest are basically slice-of-life stuff.

I could go on...

I've read a few of those, but my favorite of the bunch by far is Hark, a Vagrant. Kate Beaton has very distinct art and humor. Who would think that history could be so funny?

I majored in history in college so I love that one. She doesn't update the site frequently but she does post sketches on twitter and tumblr.

I like http://english.bouletcorp.com It is a journal comic by a French guy and he's translated a bunch of his stuff. It's one of the funniest comics I've ever come across.

Hark! A Vagrant is definitely one of my personal favorites, as is Lackadaisy (shout-out to the icon)...but can anybody tell me what Questionable Content is all about? :) I'm quite curious.

Questionable Content is great, it's the very first webcomice I started reading. It is slice of life but wryly funny. It's humor used to be made around making fun of hipsters but it's more general now. Th eoddest thing about the story is that there are Anthro-PCs which are robots. They're also extremely funny. I think the author, Jeph Jacques, is partly responsible for New England Webcomics Weekend.

I love Boulet's comics as well! He offers a hilarious insight into the daily life of a professional comic.

Girl Genius is a good one. I love the idea of "sparks". I wish I had thought of it.

Girl Genius is pretty much my favorite next to Homestuck and Sister Claire

I tried reading GG but I didn't like the art. It didn't grab me in the first few pages, I guess.

The art in Girl Genius took some getting used to for me. It's just not really my style. But I was able to overlook the art because I love the story and the characters.

I was hooked on it since page one. It was fast paced (Unlike SOME webcomic I know) and Agatha's simply amazing.

I'm also a big fan of "Lackadaisy" and "Gunnerkrigg Court."

Some other really good ones that haven't been mentioned:
http://www.wyliman.com/ - Mario Gonzalez is a really great sunday-strip/funnies type artist for his (not so) super hero "Wyliman" and his sidekick, Mackenn (who is an anthropomorphic fox that's an artist). Basically, it's just about a couple of regular guys who are roommates and their antics, but it's really worth the read!

Also I really like Heather Larkin's work; she has two main comics going right now; "Seated Lady" http://seatedlady.smackjeeves.com/ which is about a Victorian-era girl stuck at her mom's tea party, and how she escapes into her imagination to endure it. The other is "MYST: the Book of Atrus" http://mystcomic.smackjeeves.com/ which is based on the book of the same name, but she is turning it into a graphic novel. If you're a fan of the MYST games OR books, or even if you're not, I definitely recommend it, because her art is amazing and she is great at storytelling.

Seated Lady sounds adorable! I finally got around to joining smackjeeves recently, so I'll probably take a look at it.

My personal hands down favorite is Order of the Stick (gianitp.com). I also read xkcd.com, questionablecontent.net, sinfest.net and the-gutters.com regularly. Used to read a lot more, but have lost interest (megatokyo, dork tower, multiplex, looking for group, etc).

There's many mentioned above I haven't heard off. Nice to have new things to check out!

Multiplex is worth sticking to. Right now they're filming a zombie movie and it's pretty interesting.

Sinfest is really hit and miss for me. I don't care for the majority of the strips, but the ones that I do like, I like a lot. I love all of the Sunday, Pooch and Percy, and kanji strips. I am also rather fond of the art and some of the characters(particularly any of the religious figures. I like the way they are characterized). I dunno, I just don't really care for Slick or the pig(whose name escapes me at the moment), and seeing as how they are in most of the strips...

Kristen: Actually same here on pretty much everything you mentioned. I also really like the relationship between the former devil girl and the bookworm, which gets a lot of time now. The comic's really uneven, but I like the good parts so much I keep reading.

The Gutters is the same way (referring to up and down quality). It's a parody strip of the comic book industry, and at times is just flat out unfunny (and unfortunately borderline offensive). But at it's best it's hilarious, so I take the bad with the good.

Gutters is by the guys who make Least I Could Do, right? The same could be said for that one an dI'vetopped reading it a few times.

I like the ones about Fuchsia and Criminey, too! They make an adorable couple!

Same writer - for Gutters he has rotating guest artists. Never read Least. I know them from Looking For Group (which is a case where the comic got much less interesting once the plot overtook the humor).

Yeah, I stopped reading LfG. It got very serious and boring. The plot also got kinda complicated and I forgot why some stuff was important.

I've got quite a list! To hit the high points, Girl Genius, The Devil's Panties, Wapsi Square, Widdershins, Gunnerkrigg Court, Collar 6 (NSFW), Godseeker, 1977, Unshelved, Not Invented Here, New Adventures of Queen Victoria, Gutters, Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic, Girls with Slingshots, C'est la Vie, Erstwhile, Evil Inc, etc, etc, etc...

Wow! That is quite a list. I've never ever heard of most of them!

Oh, there have been some good suggestions already! My list of top favorites right now is kind of ridiculously long, but here's a few off the top of my list. Some of them are completed, others may be on hiatus, and I do believe that all of these are clean, family- and work-friendly.
Gunnerkrigg Court, Off-White, Dreamless, Spina Cage, Garanos, Fox Sister, Johnny Wander, Minor Acts of Heroism, Fall On Me, Catalyst, Erstwhile, Widdershins, Kiwi Blitz, Hemlock, and Shadowbinders.
Aaaand... that's a good start. Between what I've read over the years and what I'm reading now... I might need to make another post later :)

My favorite that I've read is FreakAngels before it ended. I also liked these ones that I have read these Nobody Scores, Dresden Codak, Power Nap, Darwin Carmichael is Going to Hell, Xylia: A Faerie Tale and The Nerds of Paradise. Some of them contain actual storylines and others don't connect in a story. I know Nerds of Paradise hasn't been updated in a while and FreakAngels is completed. These ones are the comics that I'm into at the moment.

Dresden Codak is on eof my favorites! It's so well-written an dthe art is beautiful, I just wish it was updated more frequently.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who reads waaaaay too many webcomics! I'm a big fan of some of the comics you guys mentioned. I love Johnny Wander, Minor Acts of Heroism and Dresden Codak! I like FreakAngels and Power Nap, too. They are all so different and yet they all have beautiful art and great storytelling.

I've starting reading Obsidius and it's GREAT. The writing, the art, it's all fantastic. Thanks for recommending it!

Questionable Content, Girl Genius, xkcd (though I'm way behind on this one), John Allison's Scary Go Round (which has been completed for a couple of years now but is well worth a read) and its spinoffs, Giant Days and Bad Machinery, Kukuburi by Ramon Perez, Khaos Komix (sometimes NSFW), Girls Next Door, Roommates, Head Trip, The Becoming. These are just the ones I follow regularly; there are a few others I read but don't check very often.

I followed C'est la Vie and Girls With Slingshots for a while, but I really didn't like the main character in either comic, so I sort of gave up on them. I've tried to read Gunnerkrigg Court a couple of times, but only made it through a few pages. For some reason, I can't seem to get into it. Lackadaisy is another I've been meaning to read but haven't gotten around to.

I read Khaos, too! It's so close to the end: I can't wait!

Caught back up on Multiplex. The filming stuff is great - glad I took another look. I'll likely drop back off when it's done, as he's written even more of my favorite characters out and the stuff I didn't like has gotten even more prominent, but for now I'm really enjoying it.
