sure but the main thing is to decide on one, consciously or randomly... but please everyone let's remove 1984 from the list for now. :)
i can start a poll with these ones, not that i think many people will vote, no one checks the group anyway...desperation...
i also nominate Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer i saw the movie and it was awesome !
i think you'll like it.
i think you'll like it.
k but a poll would usually take a week to give chance for every member to vote, so we's have to wait a bit longer anyhow
do u think we should stop the nominations tonight and start a poll from tomorrow?
do u think we should stop the nominations tonight and start a poll from tomorrow?
doing it this way is a good idea but i don't think it will work cuz there are few active members and so many nominations.
so i suggest we focus on activating this book club more
and i have many ideas for that.
for now, let's start with these simple steps :
each one of us nominate only one book "set a 3 day deadline" and i guess we will have 3-6 books nominations.
then we make a discussion about these books
and choose one of them 2 read.
mmm..i hope u will find my suggestion helpful :)

@mohamed, i really am looking for a way to activate the book club more and yes i do understand the dilemma if we start a poll now, but can u elaborate more, what do u mean by "make discussion about these books"??
i also gotta point something out, if we're fast enough insha2 ALLAH, we'd start by the end of this week, that makes it 7/7/2012, we have to put in mind that Ramadan starts at 20/7 and many people (myself included) suspend all reading except Qur'an in the holy month, so choosing a short, small book would be ideal to begin with, what do u think?
^ details never end xD (^_^)
> mmmm..well we can start nominating books tomorrow and start reading our 1st book before the end of the week.
don't mind details..let's start it and everything will be fine :)

I agree let's just start and the group WILL grow eventually when people check out the book club now they will see that it's dormant no books read no discussions made so they'll just leave, but after we read a couple of books and people see the discussions and so on they'll join insha2Allah :) so PLEASE let's just start, I don't mind any of the books, The Host I've read but ready to read again :)
k k, thinkin fast, thinking fast, we can go by this list http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/19... and choose one of the smaller books in it as a start...whatcha think?
for instance, Room, it is somehwat small, i have it on ebook but i saw it a couple of months ago in Virgin Megastores so they may have it as well (which means a rare availability!), personally i haven't read it yet but i know someone who did and said it's a finish-it-over-night book, we won't be like that but that means it's fast and gripping insha2 ALLAH, also a very good point to add here is that it's a book that inspires discussion according to the previous list, so it's kinda ideal a bit right?
as far as i know, also on the list that is short: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (not sure about availability) , The Catcher in the Rye (classic but good for discussion) , The Alchemist , Fahrenheit 451 (classic, really small) , Of Mice and Men (classic, veeery small, a novella basically) ,, The Giver (personally i didn't like it) , Lord of the Flies (classic)
all of those i have either as ebook or own them so they're fairly easy to have....so check 'em out and choose, what else can i do?! :D

I say we go for Room. I have a feeling it's gonna be something like The Perks of being a Wallflower. I'm really excited and I hope we start SOON! :D
@mohamed actually i think most of these r literally 'short stories' that is the length is basically one page or two :D, most of these books r composed of a collection of short stories for the same author, while what i meant is reading short 'books' , i don't even agree much with starting off with a novella since they don't have much of an extensive story, but we should begin with a novel, a short one yes, but a novel nonetheless
metamorphosis is great, i'll put it in the next group read insha2 ALLAH, i've already made the poll, it should be open to all now...and finishes at 9/7 fair enough time for people who don't check the group a lot and the fastest we can start at. Hope it's good for all.
ok & i have already invited them all 2 that poll :)
