The Genre Underground discussion

One of the coolest part about the Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror community of fans is going to conventions and interacting with other readers and writers who love the literature as much as we do. I've been attending conventions since I was 18 years old. This year I'm hitting a few, not as a hopeful writer or a fan, but as a pro. It's very surreal. In fact, next weekend at WesterCon65, I'm going to be on a panel titled Fans turned Pro.

Any of you attend any conventions?

What would you all think of a Genre Underground presence at a World Science Fiction Convention or a World Fantasy Convention?

That sounds like a great idea. I've never been to a convention as they don't do them often in Australia. How exciting that you're attending as an author. Make sure you take lots of pics so we can see what it's like to be on the other side ;)

I'll see what I can do. I'm going to be fairly busy though. My schedule is kind of insane.

That would be an amazing especially if we could get a good international spread of authors there.

It's a little late this year, but maybe in 2013, we can have a Genre Underground table and suite at World Con in San Antonio, TX.

Sadly, the only convention I've ever been able to get to is the Hay Literary festival. But the bookshops in Hay on Wye are to die for....

Would love to see a GU table at some conventions!
