Here is where you can talk all about the comics. :)

My picks:
Marvel Masterworks: Avengers: each volume collects about a dozen issues and sets up the groundwork for the team. I have the first three volumes.
The Korvac Saga: great story. Love the huge team of heroes that comes together.
The Kree/Skull war
Is 'Under Seige' the one where the Masters of evil take over the mansion? If so, get that one. excellent stuff.
Almost any of Roger Sterns long run. He did a great run.
The Kurt Busiek/ George Perez run is well worth a read. The final Kang saga gets out of control, but the first couple dozen issues are great.
Think that ought to keep you guys busy.
Avengers Prime: the only Bendis Avengers story that I ever recommend.
Avengers/Invaders: great epilogue to the pretty awful 'Civil War' story.

Yes, that's the one!
P.S. I have to disagree that Civil War was bad..."
Then put 'Under Siege' on my list, as it was one of the best stories of Stern's run.
and we are going to have to agree to disagree about 'Civil war'. to me, it caused more damage than entertainment and I find nothing about it to like.

So, what current, ongoing Avenger based comics are people reading?
Right now, I'm getting:
Mighty Avengers: Luke Cages street level team
Young Avengers: picked this up for my daughter, but she got me hooked.
Avengers AI: may be dropping this one, as it just jumped into huge storyline without giving itself much time to set up the characters.
A+X: the Avengers/X-men team up book. Decent and nice to see smaller done in one stories.
What about the rest of you?

I'm reading everything that I can find that is MCU - they're listing on the shelf on this site.
And the Hawkeye tpb... that series is really cool.

Just tried issue one of Avengers World and it wasn't bad.
Reminded me of the Justice League Unlimited cartoon.
It's Hickman, so in a bout five minutes it'll become a huge convoluted epic that'll take him a year and a half to tell, but as long as it stays big superhero action, I'll stick around.

Just curious:
Has marvel done an Avengers comic using the movie line up?
Seems a natural idea, and I know all the movie guys are getting big attention in the comics, but not as a team in their own title.

Mighty Avengers is my new favorite Avengers title.
Not only does Luke Cage smack down the annoying superior Spider-man, but there's a cute take on a joke from the movie in the latest issue.

Anyone reading Mark Waid's 'Indestructable Hulk'?
It's one of those comics that I want to like more than I do and I can't quite put my finger on why I feel dissatisfied with it.
Like the ideas and Waid's handling of Banner. Really solid characterization there, but everything else feels a bit lukewarm.

I'll add 'Avengers World' to my recommendation list. It's a big team, but right now it's broken up into four smaller teams, each on a mission of their own.
Still crowded, but Hickman seems to be using this title to introduce the cast and tell slightly smaller stories.
Kind of reminds me of the old 'Justice League Unlimited' cartoon.
If Hickman can keep the stories smaller like this I think he's got a solid read going on.

Anybody reading Invaders?
If not, you should be. Robinson writes the cast so well I'm even starting to like modern cyborg Bucky.
Plus, some nice use of marvel history and great hero team adventure.
Also, if you are curious what Thanos will be like in Avengers 3, grab the Thanos annual. Nobody writes Thanos like Jim Starlin!
So glad marvel got him back writing new Thanos stories.

Okay, my one thought on the upcoming 'Thor is a girl' story:
Marvel keeps saying 'it's not Lady Thor, she is Thor!'.
Well, Thor is not a title, it's his name, so unless Thor is getting a sex change, then she's not Thor. She may be the wielder of the hammer, or the god of thunder, but she isn't Thor.
She's Lady Thor, She-Thor or Thor girl, but not Thor.
Other than that, I don't really care, as it's just a gimmick and Thor will be back to being to being a guy, coincidently, about the time Avengers 2 comes out.
Or at the latest, when Thor 3 happens.

That whole Thor being a girl thing is pretty interesting, in the interesting sort of sense where I have no idea what the heck Marvel is doing. Are all the other characters going to be subject to sex changes now?At least they're not changing his gender in the movies, but I still am hoping they'll change it back to the original in the comics soon too =P
Having seen the Guardians movie, I don't have any real interest in checking out the comic, but I would love to see a retro story where someone takes the classic, original versions of the team and does a mini that way.
probably never happen, but it'd be a fun read.

So, has anyone read the new ( Lady) Thor comic?
I'm behind on the previous series, so haven't picked it up.
Glad to see they are keeping the same writer from 'God of thunder', as I've really been enjoying his stuff.

Well, I generally recommend Avengers World, but they just finished a huge arc (worth reading issues 1-14) and are going to be bogged down in crossover tie in issues for the rest of the year.
So, there goes my last Avengers title.
Why does marvel not want my money? What did I do to get on their bad side?

Awe I have ideas for super heroes comics of we had names and came up with a name for the company for the comics we could make them
So, Marvel just finished killing Wolverine and everyone is all uptight...
Where is the suspense when you know one of his X-teammates has access to a time machine and has already used it to mess with history...?
and one of his Avengers teammates has a history of cloning dead teammates?
deep breaths people of the internet...I brought him back to life with five minutes effort and I'm only a talented amateur. I imagine the professionals have about six more options I haven't thought of.
Cash money says Thor stays a girl longer than Logan stays dead.

So, in the comics, Steve Rogers got poisoned or something and they need a replacement Cap. They get the Falcon to take over.
Not thrilled with the idea, I think the Falcon deserves his own series, but part of the stunt his he is now leading the Mighty Avengers team, so I'll give it a look.
Man, that was bad!
The new suit is ugly, they show him flying, while carrying the shield, which looks really awkward and like he should be wobbling into buildings and issue 1 of the Mighty Avengers relaunch continues from an event mini and is nothing but build up to an upcoming event mini and the rest of the team have cameos!
Arrrggghh! Marvel, if you don't want my money say so!
A #1 is supposed to be an intro to a character! Not a stop gap between other stories. Stop writing like everyone reads every title you put out!

So, marvel is shaking up their 'Big 3':
Thor is a girl.
Captain America is black
Iron man is...a big jerk in a new suit armor...?
Kinda ran out of ideas by the time they got to Tony Stark...?
It's like marvel got tired and just said 'Whatever! New suit of armor, nobody'll notice."

Thor as a girl? I think you're talking about Angela.
No, there is a Lady Thor now.
Something happened and Thor is no longer worthy ( or something), but Earth and Asgard need a protector, a Thor.
So, some mysterious chick has shown up and been revealed to be worthy.
It's a good read for a gimmick.

Anyone try to the new SHIELD comic?
It's taking the TV team and putting them in the comic universe. Not a bad first issue, but Coulson is the only one that does anything and the others are pretty much cameos.
and what is up with the monkey...?

So, just picked up a bunch of comics from the Thor series before Lady Thor and they are absurdly good.
Jason Aaron has such a solid handle on Thor and is beautifully balancing the various types of adventures that work with the character and make up his comic book mythology.
Do yourself a favor and track down any and all Thor comics written by Jason Aaron.

Was excited about Ant-man getting his own comic before the movie...and then I read it.
The good: Scott Lang is a good dad, has a decent new costume, makes good use of his powers and we are given his history in a couple pages.
The Bad: You know Ant-man is a loser, right?
Well, if you didn't, this comic will remind you every five &*^%$ minutes that Ant-man is marvel's Aquaman.
Oh, and Tony Stark is written as a complete dick.
Gonna give this a three issue try out, but it's got a lot of work to do.
I was hoping for the writer to treat this like James Robinson's Starman, but instead it's more Kieth Giffen's JLA.

So, the comics redesigned Cap, Iron man and the Vision's outfits to look like the movies...then they make Thor a girl, make Cap elderly and turn the Falcon into Captain America.
Do the people at marvel not talk to each other...?
I have no problem with marvel changing things to match the movie (would love an Avengers comic that used the member line up from the end of Age of Ultron), but consistancy would be nice.

Anybody out there reading the Black Widow comic?
My wife asked about it and I don't know anything about the series. Nice that she's getting her own comic and was wondering if it was worth a look.

So, I don't mind marvel changing the comics to sync up with the movies, but why are they doing such a half-assed job of it?
Wish they'd just create a line of comics either based on the movies or following the basic set up of the movies. It would include only characters that have been in the movies, adding new ones as they get a movie.
I'd buy that. I'd have no problem having two of every title: a movie based one and a regular comic one, but the slapped together stuff they are doing is a clunky fit and annoying.

So, was really looking forward to Jason 'Lady Thor' Aaron writing Doctor Strange.
Why is he being written like Tony Stark in a cape?
Interesting ideas, but trying too hard to be clever and funny.
Did like all the magical guest stars, though it does seem weird that we are changing the rules of magic.
Is that cause of Secret Wars?
Did I miss a story?

Howling Commandos got a new series!
As a sucker for monster vs monster fights, I'm a happy guy.
Not thrilled with some of their choices...when did Abomination get a son?
But, I love that the giant 50's monster is the science consultant and the biggest badass is the monkey.

So, marvel got an actual black guy to write the Black Panther and he ends up writing the same story every other writer has written when they write the Panther.
Oh look, somebody is trying to overthrow the Wakandian government and dethrone the Panther...we haven't seen that since...the last time the Panther got a series!

I'd give Ta-Nehisi Coates a chance- it's still only the first issue, and there's plenty in there to still be intriguing..the relationship between the Dora Milaje is cool; his mother; and the look of Wakanda (at least from collaboration with Stelfreeze) is exciting. The sketches at the back of the issue are also insightful with how vibranium and its ability to absorb energy, powers the whole nation- even used in bracelets!
Also, to further one of your other comments, Travis- the new Black Widow by Waid and Samnee is fun! Highly recommend and only two issues in, but Issue One was quite special indeed!:)
The art is very pretty and I like the Panther enough to give it a couple issues, just amused me that after all the shouting from the rooftops, that was the story we got.
Like that he is trying to develop Wakanda more, but would have been less critical if the build up hadn't made this guy sound like the the greatest thing since sliced bread and we were finally going to get the Panther story we deserved yada, yada etc and then he does the most cliched of all Panther tropes.

Warning: don't use emojis...I think they stuff up your comments...Anyhoo, in a nutshell I basically said I can't fault you for that since the story is indeed cliched!
But heard Coates on a podcast and he is really down to earth and a huge comic book fan... He said the first issue is slow but hang in there as it gets better...but you are right, the core of the story is the same...other people have had the same criticism of Lemire and how he writes Extraordinary X-Men... same theme of me Tanya being feared etc etc
