I started this book and still haven't gotten back to it. Like I got to page 20 or 30 something on my eReader. I had a feeling that it wasn't going to be something I wanted to finish. I might finish it later on but yea don't o=hold your breath.

I ended up taking a break from Halo, which is why I started it in May, but finished in July. It's another unnecessarily long book. I'm still probably going to read the sequel, but I'm not really sure why.... I'm not invested in the characters nor interested in the plot. I think this book could have worked as a stand alone. I felt the need for an ending supporting a sequel was forced. Everything was wrapped up quite nicely, but the author added a pretty predictable twist that ended up calling for a sequel.
It's not difficult to get through, but sometimes I caught myself yearning for other, better books.

Yea I guess since I did buy it already I should finish.......eventually. I started in like May too.
And that's the reason I love libraries. lol If I end up not liking a book, I don't have to worry about having paid for it. But hey, to each their own. I don't know about your library, but mine does loan out ebooks too. I've never tried it, so I don't know how you "return" them, but it's a pretty cool idea.
Mine doesn't. I live in a small town in which few actually go to the library for the books. I really wish they did though.
I don't think it's a small town thing. The kids who hang out at my library aren't there for the books.
I as well only read to about 40 pages. That was almost 6 months ago and i have not picked it up since... the characters were boring with not much going on. I know the angels weren't supposed to have much emotions to begin with but it felt very "stepford wives" and predictable.
I think I would feel better if they were like aliens here trying to adapt to our world. I don't like how they were angels. Maybe if they were fallen angels, but that just tainted the who ideal of angels in our world and just blah. I have nothing to say but blah!!
They felt more like aliens trying to adapt to our world... But aliens aren't hot -rolls eyes-. They were lame angels, and I hate how Beth was just handed everything she wanted, despite the fact that it went against everything she was taught. "Don't get attached to humans." ..."Sure, you and Xavier can be together." Uhhhh.......
Again I say blah. Yea don't think I'll be picking it up again anytime soon. I'd have to take 3 Nos to the head to have the energy to finish this book.

However, I thought that Beth and Xavier's relationship was more obsession than love. Beth even said many times that she was obsessed with Xavier. I honestly couldn't really feel the chemistry between them. I keep asking, "why did they like each other?" I still don't know how to answer that queston.
As far as plot goes, there wasn't really one until the very end, and it felt like it was just thrown together because the author was more focused on the relationship. I feel like the whole first half of the book really had nothing to do with the last half of the book.
Things I liked: The writing style wasn't too bad. It wasn't amazing or unique, but at least it didn't try something new that turned out to be ineffective. I also liked that it was in the past tense. I honestly am not a big fan of books written in the present tense. It's a little too fast-paced for me. Still waiting for a book written in third person. You don't get too many of those.
Overall, I think Adornetto has potential as an author, but she needs to work on plot and characters before she really gets good.
