Welcome, New Members!
Okay, I am excited. This group looks like a great amount of fun. Mostly, I was drawn in by this month's picks and the fact that Locke and Key was last month's. I heart Locke and Key so much.
Hiya everybody, wow look at all the wonderful new people!! Nice to meet all of you. Sorry I havnt messaged and welcomed you lovely ladies sooner, but feel free to add me :)
How doing? I'm Kimberly, but most ppl online call me dancingcrane or crane. Love anime, manga, comics, videogames and multimedia hybrids of the above, as well as literary works of SF and Fantasy. I write, and do text-based roleplay as a writing hobby. Great characters and music are my foci.
A friend sugested that I check out this site and the she geeks group. I am very excited to join this group especially after seeing this months recomended reading. I am very excited to read Saga. Can't wait to see next months recomendations.
Hello ladies!I'm Natasha, but everyone usually ends up calling me Nat. I enjoy reading and playing video games, and I just recently got into reading comics. After beating the Arkham games, I got interested in reading up on Batman material, and thus an obsession was born. I don't read much manga or watch much anime, but I do watch and read some. I love chatting about video games and Batman, though I feel a little intimated talking to the die hard Batman fans, as I am still learning about the universe through reading. I'm excited to meet some new friends. And if any of you ladies have a ps3, feel free to add me there as well: enjoy07.
:)
Hi, I'm Gaijinmama. I live in Tokyo but I'm from the U.S. originally. I have been a She-Geek since birth, pretty much. I cut my teeth on fantasy and SF (Original Star Wars Trilogy Forever!!) Sorry, I live in the Land of Anime and Manga but I truly don't care for them, but hand me some Neil Gaiman The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes and or Robert Kirkman The Walking Dead, Compendium 1 and I'm your girl. Feel free to whip me with an al dente soba noodle. Also, I've been an Elfquest geek for 30 years. Wendy Pini, the creator along with her husband Richard, is certainly influenced by manga art. Any other fans here?

Long live Wendy Pini! :)
(and yes, Original Star Wars Trilogy Forever as well! The Prequels suck!)
Barb
Hi - I'm MJ and while I guess I fill some of the more normal "romantic" female stereotypes, I also have a geeky side, not least by the fact that my day job requires me to write on fairly techie subjects from time to time. Also a big comic book fan :)

Hello, Barbara, sounds like we're on the same page! I think I'm gonna like it here.
And speaking of further fabulous '80's Geekiness, I just watched The Princess Bride and Ladyhawke a few days ago since my husband was on a business trip. Can't get him or the kids to watch those with me.

Excited! I am massively in love with manga/anime and am so pleased to find a group like this on here. :)
Sort of randomly ended up here on Goodreads via sword and laser. Glad to see that comics have a place here since that's the majority of what I read and write.Hope to meet some cool people and get exposed to new things! :)
Oh, and I'm in Chicago.
Hello. I'm Denise. I like all kinds of books, but I have a particular fondness for fantasy, especially stuff outside of medieval settings. I like anything with good stories and compelling characters.
This group seems awesome, can't wait to check out all the recommendations! I'm Jane, nice to meet you guys :)
Hello, I'm Emily, I'm from the UK (hope that's okay!) and I just joined. Looks like a great group :)
Hi it's Celina, from the Philippines :D Would love to hear fantastic recommendations for fantasy books from you guys :D
Hello, I'm Chantell and a manga/ anime lover of infinite proportions. I have an inquiry- my boyfriend wants to join this group, but he's a He-Geek. Is it possible for him to be allowed entry to She-Geeks? o.O (I didn't know where to post this as there is no FAQ/ other questions thread.. ^ ^ Sorry!)

This is Kay Lotus reporting here. "She-Geeks" was created for women who want to discuss and share recommendations and reviews for comics, manga, and science fiction/fantasy books. Men, don't be discouraged. You guys are more than welcome to join in on the conversation. Although this group is centered around literary works, we also have discussion categories for anime, TV shows, cosplay, and more! That's right, we're going full-fledged with our dorkdom! Here are some on-going activities to look out for:
Monthly Synchronized Reading
Every last week of the month, we do a poll based on everyone's recommendations so we can vote for our read(s) of the following month. We'll be reading one comic, one manga, and one literary book. Of course, you can choose to read all three or just one of the selections. We'll have threads open for discussion.
Local Meetups
Most discussions will occur online but feel free to initiate a book meeting with locals by posting your city in the "Meetups" section on the discussion board. I personally would like to get together at least once a month to discuss our read(s) of the month with those in the New Orleans area.
More activities will come as more members join!
No set rules here besides the usual guidelines:
- You may start discussion threads about whatever you fancy. Just make sure to file them under the appropriate discussion folder (comic book, manga, tv show, etc). The same goes for recommendations, comments, and reviews.
- Make sure to check if your topic already exists before creating a new one. The broader, the better.
- It's ok to recommend a book more than once as long as we haven't read it as a group. Here's a bookshelf of our Previous Reads of the Month.
- And speaking of our bookshelves, feel free to add some books that you think are good reads.
Introduce yourself to the rest of the members. We also have a suggestion box for any new activities or changes you'd like to implement for the group or discussion threads. If you still have unanswered questions, just ping one of the moderators. Have fun, my gals!
