This is a copy of the message I got from Martin Cosgrove of the UK. I would like as many of you as possible to answer his call and tell us:
"Why do you love to read?"
Just leave Name, Age, and Country you are from with why you love to read.
Thanks!

Martin said to you:
Hi!

I'm a member of the Teens Against Discrimination group. I'm also not a teen, but I teach teenagers. The English department at the school I work in is working on a campaign for next school year to help promote reading amongst our students. Each teacher is creating a poster with a short review of their favourite book and stating why they enjoy reading.

I thought it would be really cool to have some quotes from teens saying why they enjoy reading -- other young people that our students may be able to relate to.

So, I was wondering if you could ask your members if they would like to take part. If they would, all they'd need to do is post in a thread saying their first name, age and country of residence and outline why they enjoy reading. If people want to recommend a book that's suitable for 11-18 year-olds too, that would be awesome. Any contributions would be printed and put up around the school for students to see.

Thanks!
Martin Cosgrove

I love reading because
I feel disconnected to what many
call reality.
I like that feeling

I love reading because it allows me to escape from reality. I can experience things I wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

I read because words have much more power than people realize.

I love to read because reading is having my own portal to other worlds. It makes up for the boringness of my life, it gives me a way to escape when my life seems to implode. Reading I can be someone else, while finding myself. My reality is no more, yet clearer at the same time. Reading is the closest thing to magic I can have, so I do it.

Beast by Donna Jo Napoli
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

I am an avid reader because I don't like being EJ.
The people in the books are explorers, adventurers, magicians, survivors, saviors, etc.
I am none of these things.
I want to be, but I'm not.
This is why I read.

"The Book Thief"
"A Series of Unfortunate Events"
"Harry Potter"
"Eragon"
"Inkheart"

I love to read, because it's like a film in your head - only that you are right in the middle of it! You can visit places you've never been to and worlds that never even existed. Reading helps to take my mind off problems and keeps stress at bay.

"Ready Player One - Ernest Cline"
"The Heist Society - Ally Carter"
"Ruby Red - Kerstin Gier"
"Percy Jackson series - Rick Riordan"
"The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus-series) - Jonathan Stroud"

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Alright so I guess I will answer this question more seriously;
My name is Richard Kevin Hartley, I am 21, I live in the United states

I love to read because... it doesn't just keep my mind occupied but actually puts my over active my mind to work. I can't recommend any fiction books for underage kids sooo here are a few NON-Fiction books I would have loved to read when I was in school;

I am Ozzy by Ozzy Osbourne The Philosophy of Aristotle by Renford Bambrough Iron Man My Journey Through Heaven and Hell With Black Sabbath by Tony Iommi America's Most Hated Woman The Life and Gruesome Death of Madalyn Murray O'Hair by Ann Rowe Seaman

...I hope those help...
