Clair watched the rain falling outside from her bedroom window. It was falling hard and fast. She heard some of the younger kids waking up in the rooms downstairs. They were running around, shouting about who got to use the bathroom first and other things like that. The rain and ocean together made a constant noise, which made it hard for everyone in the large house to sleep. So, even at six thirty in the morning, all of the members of the household were awake.

Cameron stood outside on the porch of the big house as he watched the rain fall from the sky to the dirt, now mud, covered ground. He could hear the mad scramble of feet heading to the bathroom, it was like this every morning, one person got one bathroom in the morning one each floor. There were three bathrooms. there were at least 30 people living together in the house. so divide that out and you have ten people per bathroom. But it was much better than having to live on the streets like they were all doing before.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) All he wanted was to float. Dancing with the soothing current of the water. Ripples forming with each breath he took, casting away the life clinging to his helpless body. He was just another void in a forbidden sky; But, this sky had a different feel - one he could not comprehend. Floating endlessly beyond the clouds, rather than the water he so longingly wished for. He was like a match burst aflame, sinking to the bottom of a crystal lake. With the disposable lifeline he was given, only they knew which strings to pull, which end to ignite; Slave of insanity, son of elegance. How could he possibly define torture? His life has been on this line for as long as he could remember. Let the water decide, let the water decide.

"Let me go with the current, leave me to escape this horrid task given to me. I’ll let the water decide. Sink or swim? Give in to the waves, or go with the current?" He had thought. It was no use, for he realized, none of these decisions were his to make. His crystal lake will soon evaporate, baptizing him, into complete submission. Not even the waves could stop this. A window. A lucent wall which envisioned all of the outside world on the other side. This was his glass prison, but only one of the many that concealed him from within. But why? Why barricade such a being? They were begging, pleading, — Beckoning to be destroyed, shattered by his own hands. He was blinded by his own emotions. Emotions and thoughts of; what if he were to do such a thing? Digits clutched the silk curtains, sliding them to reveal his decision.

Gazing ahead, he scanned the other side. It all signified his freedom from these dark walls; but burring him deeper into regret and abandonment of this place.“I promised.” He didn’t realize he breathed those words. Clenching down onto the curtains, he lowered his head and heavy lids slowly swept over glistening hues. So much to bare, he didn’t realize how selfish he was being, how oblivious he was to his mother's wishes. Sliding the curtains back into place, he would mentally picture the sunlight’s whisper being engulfed in silence by the darkness of the room.. and the song of his tears. "As you have said; these nights were never for sleep."

((Alrighty, Not a problem :) ))

Clair sighed after a few moments of watching the rain from her bed. She then got up and then headed out of her room, closing the door silently behind her, because the girl that she roomed with, was still asleep, even through the amazing downpour of rain. She yawned slightly as she walked down the stairs. All three flights of them.

Cameron stayed outside for a while longer. The rain was making puddles on the ground. The rain was falling hard, harder than normal, and that meant that there was going to be a nice day the day after.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) No matter how hard he fervently sought a bout of somnus, the visions embedded within the dark recesses of his mind would not allow sleep. Every now and then, his heavy eyelids would drift over dim hues albeit visions of obsidian wings and a falling angel would make him think twice about closing his eyes; thus he was unable to catch any solace. His head turned toward the window he had previously pondered before and his keen ears listened to the relentless assault of the rain against the window.

Perhaps vegetation would be plentiful with the days to come, as the rain drenching the terrain was plentiful in quantity to thoroughly give the plants one of the resources they needed to survive; H2O. Standing up from the couch in the living room, he was haunted with the apparition of the murder of his father, given by his own hands.

The crack lining the wall still existed from the fight, where Noctis had been weakly thrown into the wall. He needed to constantly remind himself to fix the wall, but what was the use? He couldn't possibly stay here too much longer. Taking an orange from the refrigerator, he tossed it up and down with a single hand as he proceeded to open the front door to step out into the wet world where he walked down the streets as he always did, headed for the sand covered beach.

Clair, dressed in dark colored ripped jeans and leggings underneath and a black, long-sleeved shirt with a purple skull on it, walked down to the door and pulled on her only pair of shoes, the knee high, black as night tie up boots with chains. She loved those shoes. They were great for anything. And easy to clean too.

After she had pulled on her shoes and tied them all the way to the top she stood up, brushed a loose lock of her long hair out of her face behind her ear and opened the closet door that held her long black coat. She pulled that on and then closed the door, then opened the front one. Cameron fell onto his back after she opened the door, he had been apparently leaning on the door. Again.

"Ow..." He complained from the floor, looking up at his black clad sister.

"I thought that you had learned your lesson from the last ten times there Cam." She said, raising an eyebrow. Her ears twitched once and she unconsciously reached up to touch the furry objects on her head, it was taking time to get used to them and the other changes that were happening to her body. The other day she had bitten her tongue and it had felt like a needle had gone through it. No, it was her fangs. She had nearly flipped her shit, but she kept it on the inside. Besides, her brother had a freaking tail, so she couldn't really complain about anything.

"Yeah, well, I like leaning on the door when it rains." He told her with a glare.

"Sure sure, whatever you say." She said, "I'm going to walk down to the beach." She told him. "Like I always do." She looked out at the rain. "I'll be back in a while. Tell the others where I have gone, okay?" She asked as she stepped over him.

"Yeah Sure, just come back whenever."

"I plan to." Clair stepped over her brother and then walked off of the porch and into the rain, heading down the path for the beach.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) Sauntering down the sidewalk, he almost stopped in surprise when the sidewalk ended and he stepped down into sand. He had been so thoroughly entranced by the orange hue of his fruit, he hadn't taken the time to heed his direction which made him slightly fearful at the fact he had walked so nonchalantly without direction; then again, there wasn't too many cars out at this time. Glancing around as if to check to see some type of clue as to where he had gone and come from. Shrugging, he proceeded to walk along the sand covered ground, surprised to feel sand going into his boots; take it to sand to find it's way anywhere. It must have been the wind acting as an ally.

He used his clean, blunt nails to peel back the orange, grimacing at the juice that trailed down his fingers and his hand, even making it to his wrist."Messy orange," he mumbled, licking at his fingers before continuing, stuffing the peels into his pocket as he did not want to litter. Biting into it, he found himself slightly disappointed -- fruit was becoming somewhat distasteful to him and he figured it was just one of his daemon aspects; the same issue his wings were under. Every time those menacingly large, black wings sprouted from his back, he found himself getting scared; it was just odd. Speaking of those wings they were aching to unfold right now, sending aching, burning sensations up his spine to get him to let them out, but no… they were going to stay right where they were, hidden underneath alabaster, tenacious skin tissue.

Clair walked down the path, humming a gentle song as the rain lightened up only a small amount. She liked the rain, one, because she knew how to control water and it was kind of what she was and, two, it soothed her. She held her hand out, letting the gentle drops of water fall into her hand, making a small pool of liquid in the center. She concentrated on it, making it move and conform to her will. It was enjoyable, she loved the feel of the power that she had over the shapeless object.

She kept going as she reached the sandy bank of the beach. Because of her high, tight boots, the sand blowing around in the wind did not enter them so easily. Either way, she liked the feel of the sand separating under her feet. Clair kept walking a short ways, still humming, as she let the water she was playing with drop to the ground. The song that she was mimicking was one of memories. It was a lullaby that the old woman who had found herself and her brother would sing to them before they would fall asleep. She hoped that her song would reach their adoptive Gran, hoped that she could feel their feelings for her.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) The rain was both an ally and an enemy; with the control of fire, it rendered his fire abilities somewhat useless and if he got soaked enough, he wouldn't be able to make fire at all. In addition, on a more positive note, it was a good conductor of electricity and so the rain could enhance his light abilities. At the same time, if he were to somehow forget or cease to dormant his light powers, it could result in a few minor but, nevertheless, painful stings. The tasteless orange was devoured slowly with slight remorse. His keen receptors heard humming, and at first, he ignored it; there were other people besides him that liked to be out here at these somewhat early hours, but what was suspicious was there was not really any sound out here besides the girl, and so he glanced over at the direction in which the humming was coming from, taking in the sight of someone whom was not familiar, not that he had expected to remember such a countenance.

He returned his occuli to the front, taking in the sight of the water. He walked to the edge of the water, kicking off his boots and allowing the eager rise and fall of the water to lap at his pale feet, giving him a sense of solace just as much as it sent cold shivers up his spine. Every now and then, however, he would glance over his shoulder to check the whereabouts of the feminine who had entered not five minutes after him.

Standing out under the rain, Clair looked up, letting the water land on her face, her hair was wet, but she didn't care, she could easily dry it off with a simple snap of her fingers. The small droplets of water fell down on the sandy beach, leaving indents of where they fell to the ground. She closed her eyes as she looked up, to prevent the water from falling into them. One of her dark ears twitched slightly.

She knew that something was coming soon, but she did not know what. It would not happen today or tomorrow, but sometime in the future. It gave her a strange sense of ease, like she and all the other kids like her were going to be accepted.

Clair had noticed the other person on the beach as she had walked onto the sand. She was certain, that by the similar scent that she had acquired when she had walked out here that the person was like her and the others, a castaway of society, different from the normal people. She glanced over at the figure once, then looked out at the ocean. For a strange reason, she did not know how to approach the person like she had the other kids. It was odd, normally she would walk over and start a conversation right away, but the Aura that this one was giving off told her that he did not want to be approached, or at least that is what she thought it meant.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) Somehow, in the pit of his stomach, he knew the female was wary of him; he was not really in the position to start a conversation as what could they possibly discuss when he, himself was such a secretive person? He didn't even feel comfortable with giving out his alias even when there wasn't really anything noticeably or predictably wrong with doing such a thing as what could she do with his name? However, he couldn't just stand out here and enjoy the scenery when there was another stranger lurking about -- sending chills up his spine with her mere contemplation. Sucking in a breath to steel himself, he turned his head to settle his contemplation upon her again and wave her over -- an invitation for her to saunter closer if she so pleased.

Clair knew that not many people knew about this particular stretch of beach, so it was relatively unused by humans. A pure space, as the others liked to call it. She looked up at the figure again. A hand waved at her and she gave a small, unnoticeable smile. It looked as if the person was beckoning her over, but she couldn't be sure. She paused a moment, then decided to cautiously walk over. When she was finally within a safe enough distance away for her to feel comfortable, she spoke a slight greeting.

"Hello." She said, looking over at the person. The person she had seen was a relatively pale boy. He looked like he didn't get a lot of sun.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) "Hey," he murmured, disliking the way something so informal felt upon his tongue; he usually greeted with the word, 'salutations' but the need for such a big word seemed unnecessary for some reason at this point, and he stuck to something mundane and what he liked to call relatively dumb. He noticed the amount of distance she put between them, and though it disheartened him for her to believe he was a potential threat, he respected her caution as he would have done the same thing quite frankly.

"Do you come out here often?" He asked her, feeling a familiarity radiating from her aura as if she were completely comfortable around -- not him -- but the vicinity. He came out here from time to time, but not much.

Faye Silve arrived at a beach, but wasn't quite sure as to why or how his feet had brought him there. He pulled at his hat, as if reassuring himself with its presence. The dark beanie was something of a forsaken token, as it only brought about forlorn emotions which Faye wore as a sort of protective armor. The idea may be absurd, but to Faye it was the only thing he had left.
Faye kicked at the sand absentmindedly. He wasn't thinking about anything of substance and rather liked it that way. His mind always wandered to more depressing subjects. After a bit of dragging his feet he, came to from his moment of spacing out and noticed other figures on the beach sand. Shaking his head ever so slightly he decided to leave them be. His stomach growled in protest, but he simply glared down at his gut as he shuffled away from the strangers.

((I'll have Cameron pop in C:))

Cameron had left to the beach not too long after his sister had. He hadn't planned on going, due to the rain, but his feet had said otherwise and he, consciously and unconsciously, left for the beach. He had seen his sister talking with someone, so he had left them alone and continued to walk along the shoreline. The rain made small dents in the sand as if made contact with the loos ground.
He watched as it fell, gently, and quickly. He didn't notice when he came across someone else who was on the beach. The only thing that told him was his extremely sensetive nose. The kid smelt different, like he had an inhuman scent.

Clair nodded. "Yeah, I come here almost every day." She told him, still standing a good distance away from him. She knew that she would be able to get away, if anything happened. She Offered him a smile. "You...can I ask you a question?" She said with curious look on her face. She had wanted to know if he was truly like her and the other kids.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) He nodded slowly, as he had expected her to say she did which how he had assumed accurately, he didn't know. Perhaps it was just because not many people really came here and if someone did, it was likely they had visited a couple of times -- even he had but not often. Hearing her question, he have her an intuitive sideways glance, amusement flickering in his cerulean eyes before quickly dying like a fading flame. He was so tempted to proclaim how she had already asked him a question, but he had a tendency to keep his thoughts to himself so he refrained from saying so."You can ask me a question, but I can not promise I will answer," he granted.

Faye paused and felt a chill go up his spine. He got the feeling someone was watching him. He listened and heard breathing from quite a ways off. He wished he could see what they looked like. He wished he could see in general. Grumbling, he kept walking. The stranger was a lot taller than himself, he noted, probably older. He had something catching the sound of the wind on his head. Headphones? No... He thought to himself. With the way they are moving it must be some kind of hair ornament, or something organic.. He had heard something like it before, but couldn't quite place it. Ah. He realized shortly. Ears? He had heard the familiar sound on a neighbors cat when he still lived with his mother. Or not mother, as he had found out. Now Faye was a bit confused. This person had cat ears? Upon careful hearing, since now he was fully paying attention, the stranger had a tail as well. They were not fake either. He stopped walking. This stranger was not human. Maybe he knew about his own race? Turning he started toward the stranger. "You! Cat-Ears!" He called out rather curtly.

"Not many people come to these parts." She explained, "But when they do, they are kind of like people like the ones that I know." Her eyes looked at him for a moment, then drifted back to the sand in the front of his feet. Her ear twitched under her hood causing the cloth to move. "Have you ever thought that you were different...you know, about other people?" Regular people. She added silently.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) "Different..." He murmured, trying the word on for size. He had this tendency to undermine himself by calling himself am abomination, a freak, but never different -- different sounded softer than the concrete meaning of freak. Of course he felt different, he had wings erupting from his back sometimes when he least expected it; his eyes changed colors when he got mad and thus that is why he conceals his emotions."I definitely feel different," he proclaimed, nodding slightly to himself more than anything."I assume you feel different too?" He asked her, glancing at her through his peripherals.

She smiled slightly at the ground. She had, ever since she was a child, felt different. "Yeah. I always feel different." She answered him. "Ever since I was young." And now even more so, thanks to the ears and tail. She remembered that her tail wasn't even hidden either. It swayed back and forth, moving the fabric of her long shirt.

Cameron raised an eyebrow at the sound of the shout. It was coming from the kid he had noticed earlier. He walked over to him, and yet stayed a good distance away. "Yes?" He asked, ignoring the name he had been given.

message 25: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 12, 2012 03:37PM) (new)

Faye rolled his blind eyes. "I'm a kid. What am I going to do to you, seriously?" He asked, noting the excessive space the stranger put between them. He shook his head. "Sorry." He apologized, but didn't sound sorry at all. "I have a question for you, since you are obviously not human as well." Faye did not want to ask a stranger this sort of personal question, but he had no alternative. He had thought he himself was human until about a year ago. He had gone to school with normal children and even had a few friends. Then his blasted horns showed up one morning. His not-mother ditched him shortly after without explaining anything to him. This stranger was also the first nonhuman he had seen- heard, besides himself. "Can you tell me what I am?"

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) For the first time he noticed how her shirt seemed to move, no rather something was moving her shirt. Sometimes when he would pet a stray cat he wondered what it was like to have a tail. Could the cat feel it swaying back and forth, and did the feline do it on purpose or did the tail move on it's own accord? He would ask, but he immediately assumed the subject was touchy and decided not to."Ears and I tail?" He asked, wondering if she thought of it as a curse."I have six wings that have a mind of their own," he murmured. Of course, he could control them on terms of flying, but he just didn't know how to control when they sprouted or not. Not only that but he could swear his canines had been... growing.

Cameron shook his head, "No, sorry, I can't..." He thought for a moment, then remembered about that book. "But maybe we could look it up." He said. "I know someplace where I might be able to find the answer for you." He said with a smile.

Clair nodded, pulling down her hood to reveal the black, furry ears that topped her head. "Yeah. Those." She really didn't care if they talked about her ears and tail. She had come to terms with them long ago, when she had first seen Cam with them. She smiled slightly. "Is that so." She said, thinking about his wings. It sounded pretty cool. She had always wanted to fly like a bird, but no, she had turned into a cat instead. She looked out onto the ocean. "What's it like?" She asked. "Flying, I mean."

Faye was now apposed with a difficult decision. At one point, this guy was a complete stranger and was now offering to lead him off somewhere. On the other, Faye needed to know what he was before his changes got worse, he had to. He grit his teeth together and tried not to look uneasy on the outside. "Fine, thank you." He was blowing air out of his nose, bracing himself for the worse. "Where to?"

"Alright." He said, then turned to lead him to the mansion where he and all the others lived. He looked over his shoulder. "Do you have any place where you are staying right now?" He asked him.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Faye didn't really want to answer him, so he decided to lie. "Yeah, not too far from here." He told the stranger. Faye could tell the stranger was male, by his voice. His voice was a bit deep and sounded very intelligent. He really hoped the man wouldn't catch his lie. To help sort of pass the line off he asked a question, to advert attention to the last statement. "So, what are you called? Your race, I mean."

Cameron had caught the lie, it was usually how the kids started staying at the place anyway. "Well, according to the book, I am a Half-Breed. Half animal and half person. But it could be anything." He looked over his shoulder at the boy. "I'm Cameron, by the way."

"Faye." He answered. "So what is this book anyway?" He asked. He found it a bit shocking that you could find out that sort of thing from a book. He should have hit a library in his search. He sighed, at least this meant he was not alone. "Where did you find it?"

It was a depressing thought and he tried to shove it off his mind. "How many races are there?" He asked, a bit shakily.

Faye's expression fell. "Great." He stated, the word dripping in sarcasm. He didn't want to go through page after page to find out, but in the end it would be worth it. He sighed, letting go of his frustration. Even if he had to go through a lot of information, it would be helpful information, and interesting at that. If he ran into them he could tell them apart, help them if they were in a similar situation as he, and have an upper hand in combat. He hoped he wouldn't have to, he didn't know how to fight. He had just used his extreme hearing to avoid such things until this point. He smiled slightly. He no longer felt irritated in the least. "Can I stay at your place until I have read the whole thing?" He asked excitedly.

Faye Nodded slowly. Then remembered he had just met this guy and didn't even know exactly where they were going. Damn. He thought. No wonder it's so easy to kidnap kids. They're stupid. He glared at his own two feet as he walked. No point in taking back his last statement. If it turned out to be nothing but trouble he could slip out. "So how many people are staying there?" He asked curiously.

Psᴇᴜᴅᴏʟᴏɢᴏs [ ɢᴏɴᴇ ] (MuchLikeFalling) Seeing the obsidian pelt of her ears he had this strange and abnormal urge to reach over and test just how soft they were, assuming her fur was soft, that is. However, he was no stranger to personal space and thus refrained from doing so for the sake of his own pride. Hearing her question he glanced at her from the corner of his eyes and canted his head to the side."I can't really describe it in words, but its like being free," he murmured. He could remember the feeling of the wind in his hair."If I fly up and really touch the sky, the view is beautiful," he proclaimed, his eyes gaining this faraway look."What is it like having ears and a tail?" He asked her.

"About thirty, they are all around our ages, some are even younger because their 'parents' threw them out because of their changes." He sighed. "Sometimes I just can't understand adults like them. They say that they want a kid, then when that child is either old enough to survive on their own, or not, or something happens to the child and it scares the adult, they just get rid of them." Cameron shook his head. It's shameful."

"It sounds wonderful..." She said, sounding wistful. She looked up at the sky with a slight smile. "At first," She began, "It was troublesome and hard to keep them hidden. I just began to loose interest in hiding them, and just let them be." She looked over at him again. "They move depending on my emotions. Sometimes they do it on their own and most of the time it happens to be in one of the worst situations. But I haven't really been in a good situation lately, so it doesn't really count."

Roslyn, a small girl of around ten or nine jumped off of a second story balcony, spread her fiery wings and landed gracefully in front of Cameron and a new kid. She looked over at him, then back up at Cameron. "Welcome back." She said with a smile as she folded her wings away. They melded into her body carefully and slowly.

Cameron smiled at her. "It's good to be back." He said, then looked over at Faye. "This here is Roslyn." He said, then looked over at the Girl again. "Is that book you found still in your room?" He asked her.

She nodded. "Do you need it?" She asked, looking over at Faye.

Faye heard the found of a young girl before he could essentially heard what she looked like. She was a bit short that he was and seemed to have something rather wing like, but not quite. They gave off a warmth though, that he could feel when she swooped down. "Nice to meet you, Roslyn." Faye greeted blankly. "I would like to read the book, you see," He 'looked' down at his feet. "I don't know what I am."

Roslyn smiled. "That's okay." She said in a cheerful manner. "Niether did I at first." She looked up at Cameron. "Do you want me to show it to him?" She asked curiously.

Cameron nodded. "Yeah. If you would." He said. Roslyn grabbed onto Faye's hand and smiled. "C'mon then!" She said and then pulled him into the house, leading him to her room.

Faye followed the young girl, and contemplated removing his hand from hers, but didn't for some reason. It was warmer than he expected it to be. He wondered idly what the girl, Roslyn, looked like. Flustered, he shook the thought away. His cheeks got ever so slightly red in color and he pulled his hand back, somewhat hurriedly. "Sorry..." He mumbled. What the hell was wrong with him? Acting this way, in front of a girl no less. He cleared his throat awkwardly and followed her into the room with the book.
