Fantasy and Vampire Book Club discussion

Well we all know of the TV series True Blood. But this is the Original( and I think the best) story of Sookie Stack house and her friends.
There are a few questions that this series leaves you with, who do you think Sookie should end up with? Team Bill? Or Team Eric? Or Team Sam?or....well who else is a possible love interest? Lol. Alcide , Quinn I know, but I am out of date...I only have up to book 8 on my shelf! The others I read at the library. Maybe I should refresh my knowledge.
Anyway this is a great series. What do you think of the series?

I love Harris' writing & have read most, if not all her books. I have to say that details don't stick well. They're kind of fluffy escapes for me. I really don't care who Sookie winds up with, though. Ms. Harris will let me know in due time.

These are some of my favourite books - and introduced me to the whole Urban Fantasy/modern vampire fiction - although it did introduce me to the old stuff also. I went back and read Carmilla & Dracula after Sookie.

I have only read the Sookie books - tried to read the Aurora Teagarden & the other ones, but couldn't get into them.

As long as Sookie doesn't end up with Sam I will be happy.

I will always be a Team Eric fan :] I've read up to book 11, i know book 12 just came out but i'm waiting for the current True Blood Season to end, I like to keep the story lines separated.

The sookie stackhouse series changed my reading habits. Before I hardly used to read and after I started reading the sookie stackhouse series it opened my eyes to many many other books!

So, I have a question: which is better, the True Blood television series, or the book series? I started on the television series and lost interest after the first couple of seasons...

I've read the whole Sookie series & watched all the True Bloods, but I couldn't tell you one is better than another. They're too different. Sometimes I like parts of one better than the other, but that's about it.

We were so far behind here in Australia. And I only heard about true blood here on goodreads. I found out it was on the American equivalent of cable TV.
Anyway I went out and bought the seasons as they came out. They have only just released 4 which was pretty quick seeing how long it took for season 3 to come out. I like the series, but I like the books better. However when I watch the series, I do find myself getting quite engrossed with the characters more than usual. Maybe because I am seeing it rather than imagining it.

I always find I prefer which ever I read or watched first I read sookie books well before the tv series so prefer the books, but I do love the show. Think sookie should be with bill .

I like the books but the TV series seems much deeper and darker - I like the way they focus on all the characters in detail rather than just Sookie. But I'm still looking forward to reading the final book!
I think she should go for Alcide- but then I just watched the latest episode this am and the actor is very cute- plus what have they done to Eric's hair?! In the books I prefer Eric.
Bills just too old fashioned!

I got started with the tv show but enjoy reading the books. I have read all of them. I want the show to bring in Quinn because I liked the couple of books with him in it but ultimately I think that she should end up with Bill.

I like these books though the book before the current one was a complete let down. It had a very disappointing story compared to the rest of the series. The newest book is still on my to-read list so I'm hoping the story will be better.

I love the Sookie series. I started reading them after the second book came out. I'd have to say that I'm Team Eric. Although I watch True Blood, I'm disappointed that it doesn't really follow the books.

I'm Team Eric and I would say you can't really compare the books with the TV show as they are so different - I enjoy both for what each has to offer.
Charlaine Harris is coming to Adelaide next month and I have a ticket to her talk and signing - can't wait!

I watched Season one which alerted me to the books.. then I read the books, (the bookpeople website had the first 8 or 9 books for £9pound.. even my poor student self at the time couldn't resist that bargain!)..
I now love the books more then the series which is usual for me I usually prefer which ever was the first version brought to my attention. I will be devastated when the series ends, as before the southern vampire mysteries I very rarely read, now I read all the time and think it is fantastic. As for who Sookie will end up with I am kind of just interested to see how it turns out. I do like the prospect of her ending up with Sam, however although Sam is an amazing a friend to her I think it could be a bit of a cop out ending as there has never been a full on love affair like with others. But I love the series so much that I am not going to get hung up on it and keep an open mind. I have no doubt that Harris' will have her reasons for taking the finale in the direction it ends up taking. :D.
