This is the only book I've read by this author. I had no idea what to expect when I started reading it. I had no idea the author wrote Christian novels. Nevertheless, I thought it was a beautiful story written really well. I just loved the two protagonists.
I really enjoyed this book and intend to read more by this author... It's also the only one of his books that I have read.
Thunder and Rain is his latest... and took on a whole new flavor I wasn't expecting from him... still good. Hope you enjoy!
Started with THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US then researched his other works; I think I've read five or six and now reading his latest, THUNDER AND RAIN. Have no problems encouraging my students or my 12 year old grandchild to read his work.
I saw this on a book shelve in Barnes and Nobel. It was recommended by one of the staff. It is awesome! It is not just a love story, but a beautiful story of life. To see this incredible story unfolded and bloom into an amazing tale of love, loyalty, survival, and respect for one another. The ending is one of the best parts of the book. This book will make you think of yourself and how far would you go to stay alive. Read and enjoy!
This novel makes me want to become like Ben Payne. The ending is totally unexpected but equally heart warming. I give this novel 5 additional stars.
I read this for a book group and loved it. My first Charles Martin book and not my last. Looking for the next best one to read.Just to mention, I didn't think it would be my "cup of tea" genre', but wow, its a wonderfully powerful book. Any book that I am still thinking about a week after finishing, well, it left an impression for sure. Often they have been forgotten as soon as read.

Writers are so creative, and where on earth do they get all their ideas!!!!!!!
My favorite is "Wrapped in Rain". It is the one that got me hooked on Charles Martin and still my favorite, though I do love all of his books.
My first and favorite is When Crickets Cry. I went through a box of tissues. I could not believe that a man as young as Charles could write so knowingly and with such depth of feeling. It is like he is an 'old soul' meant in the very best way. Truly he is an artist. He paints his individuals with precision and wraps them in real flesh and emotion. I look forward to his next offering.
