Daniel Beegan (PadreDan) | 1 comments This would probably be considered a violation of separation of church and state now, but when I was in junior high from 1963 to the end of school year 1964, the New Haven, CT, public library had many approved biographies of the saints and I devoured them. I would encourage all of you to read the books and watch the movies. They remain good role models.

The Very Rev. Daniel Beegan
Archpriest, Roman Orthodox Church

Ce (ceckis) | 2 comments I like reading the life of saints, but the ones that really changed me in a radical way are: Saint Agustin, Saint Francis, Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint Tomas of Aquinas, Saint Edith Stein and Blessed Mother Teresa. Been reading their material (when ever I can get one of those books over here).

Ann Maertins (chatterann) I don't want 2 get into an argument w/anyone, but is there somebody who would b willing 2 have a good conversation w/me and explain why Catholics pray to saints?

We don't pray *to* saints, we ask them to pray for us. It would be like me asking you to pray for me.

We look to the saints as human role models who exemplify a Christ-like life.

Ann Maertins (chatterann) but how are their prayers any different than ours? My prayers will appeal 2 God just as well as their prayers would. their prayers are not more "powerful" or special in anyway. just cuz they are in heaven doesn't change anything.

also, Please try and find where in the Bible it says God never refuses anything to a pure heart. Because if I pray to the Virgin Mary asking for money to fall from the sky, and she asks God, that will happen?? sorry, but I doubt it.
