Trails
Cassidy looked around, hoping to see another rider that she could go down the trail with, but she saw none. Sighing, she spoke to Rose, "Looks like we can't trail ride either. Sorry Rose. I guess we can just go back and try to find someone to ride with. There isn't much we can do alone." With that, Cassidy turned Rose back towards the barn.
She nodded and quickly mounted Slash swiftly. Slash stopped a hoof and bobbed his head a little bit.
"Let's go then!" Cassidy turned to Rose. "Let's go Rose!" Rose started to trot down the trail, but went slowly so Slash could catch up.
Evalina laughed some and kicked Slash gently to catch up to them "How fast do you want to go?" she slowed Slash down as soon as she got next to Rose.
"As fast as you want to go. Rose used to run the trails near my home to train. She'll pace with Slash though, that's what she's good at." Cassidy patted Rose's neck and remembered the days they used to run the trails, the morning dew dripping on them from the high branches.
She nodded "Slash is also good with trails, where we're from we're surrounded by forests and trails." she then made Slash go faster and over to the right side of the trail.
"I was born and raised in Russia but now I live in Tennessee." she smiled and let Slash go faster and she gave him his head.
"That's cool! I'm from Kentucky. I like on a little farm. It only takes me an hour to get to the Kentucky Derby every year. I really wanted to race Rose there, but after the accident, we came here instead."
"They any good?" asked Cassidy. She had always loved racehorses and was devistated when she and Rose were in the accident.
She nodded "They are, we have our own racing track plus we race them in the woods so that they get spooked but they know how to deal with it." she smiled and Slash went a little faster.
Delta pulled Allegro to a stop under a canopy of oak and ash leaves. Ahead of her was a long corridor of trees whose brances came together as a ceiling of green. Allegro snorted wanting to get on the move. Delta turned to look for Kelly and Pages. "Ready?"
Kelly looked up from her daze. She blinked and nodded. "Which way are we going?" she asked as Pages came to a sudden stop. Pages look back and nickered. Kelly patted and rubbed Pages' neck. "I'm fine, girl. Okay."
Delta shrugged. "Your choice. I don't mind." Allegro shook her head and stopped a hoof impatiently. "Sh, stop girl." Allegro quieted down and swished her tail in silent protest.
Kelly sighed. "I kind of...umm...can't see where I'm going." She gave a meek smile, trying to make a joke out of it. Pages stomped her foot and snorted. "Shh, girl."
"Sorry, I meant right or left. I know there won't be much different." Allegro took a step towards the right. Delta nodded. "Walk on, right it is." Allegro swung her head happily and trotted briskly across the leaf littered forest floor towards the right tunnel of trees.
Kelly felt Pages lurch forward, nearly falling forward again. She pulled back to her stomach really quick. Pages gave a startled nicker. Pages trotted forward with Kelly's permission. Kelly sat forward and used her knees to prop up and down in a post. She felt Pages neck turn against the reigns as she followed Allegro down the narrow pathway.
Light filtered trough the canopy above and cast dappled shadows against the ground. Del closed her eyes and she could see the shadows cross over her eyes. Allegro nickered in pleasure and stamped a hoof into the grass. Del opened her eyes and pulled Allegro over to skirt a rock. "So Kelly, besides sports, what else do you like to do?" She tried starting a conversation.
Pages lifted her feet high to avoid the on-coming pieces of rubble. There seemed to be more than usual scattered around this part of the trails. She pulled back on Pages, telling her "easy". Pages slowed to match paces with Allegro. Kelly turned her attention to Delta. "I love to play with Gem and take walks."
Delta nodded. "I spend most of my time walking around the farms and hills. Kentucky is pretty much all hills." Allegro shook her head in agreement.
Kelly nodded. "Hawaii is just beaches and mountain. We never lived near the mountains, always sea side. I used to love to gallop Zander along to shoreline. I still did it after my accident. I miss it and have been waiting to ride again so I can at least run in the field." Pages tossed her head, feeling uneasy about the surroundings. "Whoa, Pages," Kelly repeated.

((sorry I was gone.))
((that's alright!))She laughed and nodded "We do, if your ever in Tennessee your more then welcome to stop by and visit."
"Really? I mean, I don't leave Kentucky much and I'll be here, but I will!" A smile lit up on Cassidy's face. Rose could feel Cassidy'd joy and she whinnied.
Rose lept forward chasing Slash down the trail. Sweat started running down her head, but she shook it off concentrating on her goal.
Rose's hooves pounded against the trail as she got closer and closer to Slash. A pain started to trickle in to the back legs, but she ignored it and kept running. ((What day of the week is it in the role-play and when are they starting the training?))
Rose bounded up next to Slash, slowing down once she approached. The light wind blew through her hair. She lifted her head and whinnied.
((They can ride on this Sunday because it's the first day here and the horses need to get used to their surroundings.))
((Oh okay. Is there an orientation or anything later?))Rose slowed down to a steady walk. Her back legs ached, but she couldn't limp on both of the, so she kept walking.
Cassidy pulled Rose over to Evalina and Slash. "Yeah it was. I can see a field just ahead. Want to go check it out or head back?"
Cassidy smiled and her head bobbed. "Let's go Rose!" Rose stepped forward, she did a slow trot to the field, but after reaching it she slowed down.
((Yes Lauren. I've been trying. It's hard for me to think of that much to say. I'll get better soon, hopefully. My writing could use that help too.))Rose stopped moving even after Evalina and Slash passed them. "Come on Rose, let's go!" Rose still didn't move.
Evalina slowed Slash down and turned around "What's wrong with Rose?" She walked Slash around the mare and looked for any sign of an injury.
((I know Lauren.))"I'm not sure exactly, but sometimes she does this when she's in pain." Cassidy slid off Rose and walked around to Rose's back legs. She ran her hand down them. Her eye brows scrunched together before she stood up. "Her back legs are swelling, a lot."

Just on the other side of the arenas, near the edge of the property, is a narrow trail that is covered in greenery and foliage. This is a journey meant for horse-back only and is barely visible by foot. Designed for this purpose, the trails divide at a fork-in-the-rode about a quarter mile down. There is the Left Trail and the Right Trail. They both hold an expedition that leads to uncharted areas that can be found by anyone with a sharp eye.
The Left Trail leads to some back pastures lush with trees and ivy. The grass is tall there, so be weary of where you stand. There is a small pond that the horses sometimes relieve stress into by swimming or reviving themselves with a fresh drink of water. Flowers bloom every spring and in the winter the ground is laden with snow, making the pasture transform into a winter wonderland.
The Right Trail leads to some old ruins of Spring Briar. There was once a Mayan temple museum on the same grounds as the stables. When the museum was sold, it was bulldozed over and very few remains are still around. There are small "shrines" and god-like figures laying around in the midst of everything. Not many people know of the past of Spring Briar and none speak of it. The horses often get antsy around this part of the woods and prefer the Left Trail. As you continue down the path, past all the "shrines", you discover the brink of the property and yet another pasture that is even more lush than the Left Trail. For those that dare go past the remains of the museum, which is few, the reward is this beautiful field. The grass is always fresh since there are no other animals that eat it back there, but there are numerous bugs that pop up, so always stay on your horse.
