Louise | 89 comments I picked it up at a paperback sale a few years back - and I'm trying to cover at least half the states with books I already own :-)

message 5: by Louise (new)

Louise | 89 comments 5 left to go!

Suzanne I can't wait to start book shopping!

message 14: by Barbarac (new)

Barbarac (bcb72) | 64 comments I like your list. I haven't started mine yet but I want to make sure I read books I already own like you, so I still have to make an inventory around my house and my kindle. I will come back to your list for inspiration.

message 15: by Louise (new)

Louise | 89 comments I always start out wanting to read mainly books I already own - but then get tempted by all the exciting new titles I discover!

I know that feeling. A few years back I tried to be good and stopped going to libraries and bookstores until I finished all my books at home...but now with electronic books...they are everywhere you look! Such temptations :)

message 17: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 49 comments Cool to see Trouble No More on your list. I love Tony's work--I taught at the university where he works and learned about him through that. Enjoy it!

message 28: by Louise (new)

message 30: by Jayme (new)

Jayme Louise wrote: "The audiobook was awful, but I have friends who read it as a regular book who loved it :-)"

After reading the book I can't imagine listening to it, but I am not a big fan of audiobooks. I get to distracted.

message 31: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Louise wrote: "24 books done! Think I'll be finishing this in 2014 :-)"

You and me both! I keep getting distracted by other books I want to read in-between!

message 32: by Louise (new)

Louise | 89 comments I've even swapped a few, because I read other titles that qualified :-)

message 33: by Jayme (new)

Jayme Louise wrote: "I've even swapped a few, because I read other titles that qualified :-)"

I have probably swapped a third of the books that I originally started with, and I am really distracted with other books right now

message 48: by Martha (new)

Martha | 7 comments I just discovered this discussion group So interesting Around the USA in 52 books Love it. I went through my 2014/2015 books and my list is below. I would recommend "The Promise" for Texas It is a not only a story about the 1900 Galveston Hurricane but it weaves a beautiful love story throughtout its pages. Also for Massachusetts I recommend "Inside the O'Briens".

Someone is Watching........... Florida
The Home for Wayward Clocks... Iowa
The Boston Girl............... Massachusetts
Where They Found Her.......... New Jersey
Delicious..................... New York
Mean Streak................... North Carolina
Every Fifteen Minutes......... Pennsylvania
The Personal History of Rachel South Dakota
Dupres
The Promise................... Texas
The Bishop's Wife............. Utah
Winter People................. Vermont
Gray Mountain................. Virginia
Morning Glory................. Washington

In looking over my list for 2014/2015 I found I had a lot of books with the same state as a setting. So now I have to read 39 more to meet the challenge. Don't think I will get there but I am definitely going to be on the lookout for books with the states I haven't read yet. Plus Louise's list is so complete I will also take those suggestions!

Martha | 7 comments I forgot to ask.. Is Around the USA just fiction or can we add non fiction? Like The Wright Brothers..North Carolina

However you want to do it is up to you. Some people restrain themselves to books about a place written by people from that place but that's the most extreme. Non-fiction is fine, genre is fine, even poetry. It's nice to have some variety, in my opinion.
