Janice (jamasc) No problem. As I come across books that are set in Canada, I'll put them into whichever province/territory they fit. We may end up with a great resource ourselves.

GateGypsy | 126 comments Rockbound by Frank Parker Day. I read this the year it was the winner of Canada Reads; or, rather, I listened to it on CBC :)

GateGypsy | 126 comments Also Fog Magic by Julia L. Sauer, if you're into Children's Lit.

Janice (jamasc) Rockbound sounds interesting. Hmmmm.

Robin | 30 comments I think Rockbound is what I'm planning to read also. I read Fall on Your Knees when it was an Oprah pick and there was a lot of hype about it. My friends all enjoyed it also and it was a book that we all read super fast.

Lots of controversy about Rockbound, that the author wrote the story based on actual people and events, and the community didn't much appreciate it... :)

Rita Joe is a famous Mi'kmaw author in Nova Scotia.

GateGypsy | 126 comments Just discovered another author! D.R. MacDonald, who has several Cape Breton-set books: Lauchlin of the Bad Heart, Cape Breton Road, and All the Men are Sleeping.

The Bishop's Man is set on Cape Breton Island.

Betty This morning, I listened to a recording of Cape Breton's fiddle music, consequently looking up two books about it:

Talking Cape Breton Music: Conversations With People Who Love and Make the Music

The Cape Breton Fiddler

Nice, I love this style of music. And love that you brought some other "senses" into this list. Thanks Asma.

Michelle Ferguson (michelleferguson1) | 4 comments Might I humbly suggest "From Away" by Michelle Ferguson as a Nova Scotia read?

Yes you may, Michelle, since the book is relevant to the group. We love suggestions around here. :) I do ask that, next time you're discussing a book or author, you use the add author/book at the top of the comment box, though. It makes it easier for people to find what you're suggesting. Thanks.
From Away does sound like an interesting book.

Nona Lightner (marienona) | 10 comments I just placed a hold on 'From Away' at my library. It should come in sometime next week.

Thanks! Sorry I am new to Goodreads and haven't quite figured it out yet! I see the button you are talking about and will use it next time! Thanks again!

Fall on Your Knees sounds like it might be my cup of tea.
