GUYS CHECK THIS PLEASE:
I'd love if you wrote RECOMENDED on the top of your reply to this thread whenever you have a book that you really liked! Thanks!

"In this thread, everyone will post their reviews/opinions of the book they have read this week AFTER you rate/review it on your page. The purpose of this is so everyone can see what you read this week and read your review without having to visit each profile. Some of you have their profiles locked, so this saves you the trouble of unlocking it.

ANY COMMENTS THAT ARE NOT RELATED TO THAT MATTER WILL BE DELETED.

The format will be like this:

Name of book.

Author.

n/5 stars.

"Your simple opinion/extended review/one word that expresses what you thought of the book. GO CRAZY! Anything counts. Don't feel pressured."

Link to your review.

Also, this allows us to be organized, so even if a member didn't log in for about a month, they can add the book they've read to the appropriate thread.

THANK YOU ALL!

EDIT:

As I've mentioned in the guidelines, one word or a simple opinion counts as a 'review'. I only called it that because Goodreads calls it that."

Now let's see your achievements, awesome people.

Yikes!

One of the worst book I've ever read, and I had many.

You know that book that makes you hate its writer, this one is.

I know that's not a review, but it says "What did you think?" up above, yes.

Review:

If you think that you understand the story without reading the book you are just kidding yourself :)
loved this part as a book and hated it as a movie.

Please stop laughing at me by Jodee Blanco

She doesn't try to win you over, she just tells it like it is. That's why it's so moving. This is one of those books that everyone should read. Arabs have this weird viewpoint that it's okay to constantly tease and torment their friends. They don't see the effects that it has. Yes, the book was moving. However, I was disapointed that after all those years and what she had become, she was still trying to prove herself to all her old classmates. I guess that old habits die hard.

Genre: Young Adult, Mystery
Finished Date: 19.July.2012
Rating: ★★★★★
Review: had me at the first sentence...

≈ It was completely engaging and so unputdownable. When I find that it's a crime mystery I almost died of happiness. And the characters? they were absolute joy to read about esp the narrator Hartley. She is sooooo hilarious and snarky which I totally loved. Her best friend Samantha is no less fun. They just complete each other. Chase! that guy *sigh* I liked him so much. Bottom line, perfect characters. ≈

I won't lie to you. I'd written off this book as a boring pretentious 'american great' before I even bought it(for a book club that, sadly, never made it beyond the planning stages), and I only grudgingly picked it up because it was the smallest of my current to-read list and I needed something to read on the plane.

I'm not going to tell you about how wrong I realized I was, it kind of shows in the rating. But I will tell you this: I didn't feel bored throughout the entire book. Not once.

The story is about childhood, about innocence, racism, and injustice in a time where racism was painfully justified. The narration is, if slightly annoying at times, light and enjoyable enough to follow. And the characters are lively, real. Atticus might rank right up on the very top of my favorite literary parents list, with Calpurnia. Yes, I'm quite aware of the fact that she isn't technically their mother, but the way I see it, she's earned the title. The kids are proper kids, Dill being my favorite. Be warned, though; after the first fifty pages or so, a southern drawl will be stuck in your head for a while (I've been unconsciously using ain't for a week now.)

Don't be me and judge this too fast. Pick it up and give it a chance. I'd like to think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
