hey guys, ive recently noticed that the book Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James is becoming more and more popular, and before i read it was wondering what it was about? how good is it?would you recommend it?

apparently, the love scenes are really detailed but its a really good series? what do you guys think?

Liza (gracefulserendipity) | 2 comments The message you sent made me laugh, only because if Kristen Stewart did play the female lead role it would be ironic as some people claim this originally started as Twilight fanfic.

I've heard good things and bad things about it. My twitter friends that love Romance and other similar genres gobbled this book up. (I'm not a huge Romance fan.)

Certain blogs I love to follow whose opinions seem to mesh with mine hate it, because of the relationship between the characters and the alleged abuse. I haven't read it, so I can't say if it's true or not.

I think if you read all the pros and cons out there you'll see for yourself if it fits you.

I'd ask more about the relationship and what issues people had with it, before I got it. If that type of thing bothers you, you might now like it.

Emm (emmatebby) | 4 comments I have alot to say about this book... Where to begin.. Right.

First off, i hate it.. And i'm starting to think that i'm the only one too, everyone says how GREAT it is.. please no. It's a pornography, with a repetitive scene over and over again.. I'm so angry at this book, i've almost finished it and boy.. i'm never going near this series again!

Terrible misunderstanding.. i went into the local asda to buy a book, i picked this up.. look at the back.. thought hmm this could be interesting, not knowing anything about the book, 1 week later, i'm sitting their just disgusted by it.. and then everyone started talking about it.. i've read some reviews, saying it's such a good romance, PLEASE... He does the same thing to her over and over again... this is not a twilight fan fiction.. hell no.. might have a few things in common... but the Main thing the whole way through the (sex) is just uh... i can't describe it.. I think everyone is so shocked by it's detail, and that's why people like it so much. You'll have to read it for yourself, but personally, hell no. I say don't even bother..

Angela (angieerickson) | 1 comments This is not Teen Reading Material and was never Twilight Fanfiction.

This is a Romance with sexually explicit content. It is rated mature for adult audiences and contains BDSM. The reason for the media attention is that its a romance with intense BDSM scenes that has made its way into mainstream romance reading. BDSM content is usually reserved for erotica material.

Lissa Smith Reads'~A Bookaholics Bookshelf (lissasmithreads) Just to weigh in…. I don’t think young adults should be reading this, period! As for where the success of the book came from, I haven’t a clue. I have read the whole series. It had a good start on a building romance but was ruined by graphic reparative kinky porn. Had the author stood by her story line and grew the character Ana into a strong woman and helped Christian deal with his demons, for me it would have been a enjoyable read.

Yes, I’m giving off mixed signals, because if you skip all the porn it okay. In fact, it’s no different than one of lifetime or the hallmark channel’s cheesy movies. (Not all are cheesy but you have to admit some are.) I was just put off because the characters never grew or learned anything and the sex was not my cup of tea.

As for Stewart playing Ana….. NO FREAKING WAY!! I wouldn’t waste my money at the theater, though she has a huge fan base most would not be old enough to see this type of move, so it would be a financial down fall for the studio to cast her in the lead role.

Kimberly | 1 comments I read and it and I absolutely love it!But then again Im 22.I dont think it should be on a young adults reading list.and i know im 22 and on here but that because i usually just read ya books.I also would not let my teenager read that if i had a choiild that was that old.But in response to what lisa said about the kinky sex parts.I think it was one of the things that made the book great that the author didnt hold back.(But my favorite was the emails). But that is just my opinion.I dont think it would be a good thing for a ya group to read that because there is no way in the world this book is consicered ya in any sense...

i have to agree, i didnt expect so much sex in this book and it kind of shocked me lmao. but i loved the book and my favorite parts were the emails and him giving Ana his heart when it was very hard for him to love at all. i did like how the authour was very discriptive about all the sex scenes and i have to say it was a very different book to read. :)

Sherry (momarabbit) | 4 comments I get a good laugh from it but after reading these comments maybe I shouldn't. To clarify I am 29 and no where near a teen but LOVE all YA novels. The story line is great but the explicit content is boring and repetitive yet I am on book III. It is like a car crash you just can't look away from.
I suggest borrowing the book from someone just in case you are one of the many that are turned off by reading it, that way you don't spend your money on something you'll never read.
