I loved the early Anita Blakes & have had a love-hate relationship with the last dozen or so. Well, some I just hated, but I've read each of them because the world is still evolving & I really, really want to see how certain things turn out. I'm hoping that Hamilton will wrap things up in another book or two & put her to rest, though.
As a character, there is no love lost for me. I like the new Anita better, she's not so I'm better than the world.
Favorite man, so many to chose from, beside Jean-Claude, I would say Micah and Wicked.
They are certainly interesting. You never know if you are going to get mystery/crime solving or erotica.
I don't have a favorite villian.
ive read through #6 and am still enjoying it even though i havent heard the greatest things about the latter books...im going to keep reading as long as im still liking it...
I love this series anita is awesome kick butt chick. I don't know if I prefer anita now or beforeshe just the same to me just evolved by neccesity. My fav guy is either jean claude or micah not sure which there just so different. In some books it did get quite erotic but with them being incubi/succubi it was to be expected. The most memorable villian for me I think was obsidian butterfly
I think Otto is one of the more memorable. He & Edward are the main reasons I'm reading now.
I love, love, love this series. I have read all the books for Anita Blake. I know some of you dont like her lastest books but they still do it for me. I will have to say I do love Edward and I do think Otto is very memorable. If I would have to choose my favorite love interest for Anita it would have to be Jean-Claude. I think because he was the first and plus I have a thing for vampires. Dont get me wrong I do love all of her other guys as well
I don't know about loving all her guys. Richard is such a conflicted jerk. I really hated him for several books, now he just sort of disgusts me most of the time.
I'm the same Horace. He was OK to start with and then he became such a jerk.
I love Micah and Nicky.....oh let's not forget Nathaniel. Asher....so over him. And Jean Claude is awesome.
Most memorable villain for me was marmee noir. Or the Harlerquin.....tough choice . LKH has written so many brilliant villains. Obsidian butterfly's priest was scary. Actually the nursery scene in that book made me sick. When I re read it, I rather conveniently skipped those parts.

Ok...I love all of the Anita Blake novels. But I hate Richard. He is so whiney and so worried about what he thinks is right and wrong that I hate pretty much every scene he is in. Reminds me of too many politicians. Lol...that being said, I love Edward. He is my favorite out of all the men. But Jean Claude is my favorite of her men. I wish she would give more story lines to Edward/Ted.
yeah I like Ted/Edward as well. he has gone from being a threat to a friend( I prefer him as the friend)
I love how he has a family now( I hope they stay in the storyline).
he just seemed so lonely before.

whew!! so Im not the only one that would like to strangle anita. :) Ive yet to like her but I just finished book 3. Im told I will begin to like her. I soo love jean claude. Ive only heard friends talk of Micah so im very interested in reading his story line
Daria, don't give up on Anita! yes some thing that happen you end getting frustrated with her. but there are some story lines you will miss out on. I hated book 1 originally. but Anita becomes someone completely different from that book. be prepared for change.
oh and Micah.....mmmm yummy. if you miss out on Micah you miss out on Nathaniel too. love them both. what book were you up to? i think there are a couple you can skip and come back to when you are ready to read them.

smiles tks all for ur awesome comments. I am in the middle of lunatic cafe right now and I have the next one after that. A friend of mine also said to skip some books ... but Im trying to read them in order.. grinz.. hard when i want to strangle the lead character :)
Oh god no - don't skip any books, you would miss out on so much character development.I like how Anita's character changes throughout the 20 odd books - and a lot of the time, it was her digging her heels in, kicking and screaming.
They are one or two books that I don't particularly like the story of, for example, the one with the fairies.
Sit back and enjoy the read - LKH will bring you on a great adventure.
Blood bones.. smiles im reading now.. with Magnus.. is a fairy.. im more than 3 chaps and ive not wanted to strangle anita.. yet. we will see ty for all the awesome responses
I love Anita Blake series! My favorite guy is Micah, or is it Nathaniel, or maybe Jean-Claude, or Asher! Oh, I am so confused!
Marsha, I am in love with Jean Claude, Micah , Nathaniel but I never loved Asher.
Daria, I'm so glad you have stuck with it. You would have missed out on such an adventure.

once you meet them you will understand. I suggest you read strange candy and Micah ( the short side stories) as well.....I'm not sure of their order. but they are worth a read
I was glad that Jean Claude was actually in the last book. The few before he was more just a phone call in her head or barely in a scene or two. I like that the last few books were about her being a US Marshall, but really would like more Jean Claude mixed in with the US Marshall cases.
I have just started the first book and I am loving it so far, can't wait to get to the rest of the books
I love the early Anita books and haven't read further than book 10 (which I didn't finish). I did try to start the next couple or so but they proved to be as boring as #10 so I quit. Would be grateful though if some kind soul had made a digest of JC scenes, I'd read them :)I liked the character of Anita because she made sense. A lot of these kick-butt chicks are completely unrealistic, and that is not the kind of unnatural I enjoy in books - vampires, hell yes! Anita's a killer and that's a career choice that suits her somewhat psychotic personality. She's at the same time ashamed of her own psycho aspect (it's not approved in society, and deservedly so) so she gets freaked out when supernaturals display it, but she's fascinated all the same. So she's not very nice, true, but what pro killer is?
The "new" Anita is not a character, it's simply a tool the author works her sexual - fantasies? frustrations? whatever, I don't care - off. Self-therapy. Whatever, it's her life and her books, I don't mind.
Men, well - that will be the one and only Jean-Claude. But I love Asher too because JC loves him, lol. And I understand why - it's the kind of love the adult feels for the spoiled brat he, the adult, cannot afford himself to be any longer. Lost youth thing, and JC lost his long before he became vampire :)
The most impressive villain was the Aztec mummy-cum-vampire in the 9th book... he's innocent in a way but can't be allowed to stay in this world.
If I write what I liked about the series it will be another long sheet, lol, so I stop here.
