I've heard a lot of good things about him. I might have to read one of his books for Saskatchewan.
Would Yann Martel's stint as Author Laureate in Saskatchewan qualify him for this part of the list? (Life of Pi takes place off the BC coast, and he currently lives in Montreal. Silly, mobile, Canadian authors.)
Nomadic people! LOL! Since you make up your own rules about the challenge, you could pick either province.
As long as he lived there long enough and when he was old enough, he'd qualify, I'd say. If he lived in Saskatchewan for the first three years of his life, for instance, the only memories he has of it are probably fuzzy and unreliable. But since he lived there for a year (at least according to Wikipedia), he probably remembers what it was like fairly accurately.
The nomadic authors get me too. It's one of the reasons when I'm choosing books for myself for my Around the World, Around the US, and Read Across Canada groups based on setting rather than author most of the time.

I'm also picking mine based on setting. Miriam Toews books seemed to be from so many different places, mostly in the US so I picked A Complicated Kindness as it appears to be in Manitoba. Also Margaret Atwoodyou would have to research which ones focus on setting if you are selecting in that style... Alias Grace definately is close to where I live, is based on real historical events, and has a lot of references to setting
Jean Roberta lives in Regina, Saskatchewan and writes a lot of, for lack of a better term, adult fiction. Some of it is geared towards heterosexuals, some of it is geared towards lesbians, but most of it seems to involve sex of some kind and isn't for the under-18 crowd.
