When you're recording a podcast, it's really difficult to picture who might be listening. I also want to know how to tailor or book selections and discussions to who is actually listening to our program.

So, go ahead! Introduce yourself!

Kimberly Chapman | 4 comments Thanks for setting up a group, Linsey!

I stumbled across the podcast when you mentioned it on a thread in the VF boards. I had a listen to the first episode and really enjoyed it, even though I hadn't read the books. I added some to my to-read list as a result. I really connected with what the hosts said about authenticity, ie corporate focus-study pseudo nerdisms versus the real deal. We can indeed smell 'em a mile away, and they stink.

I'm an avid reader, deeply into the Richard Sharpe series right now after stumbling across that thanks to Masterpiece on PBS. I never would have imagined that I'd be so into war books! But the characterizations are so awesome...I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I'm also a writer. I was a real-life paid journalist and copy editor for Network World Canada before moving to the US, and I've had one traditionally published novel plus now an indie offering. Details in my profile...I don't want to be spammy here. :)

Looking forward to the next podcast. I tend to listen while doing dishes or making extremely odd/nerdy cakes. More on that in my profile too. :D Weekly Readers will join my other podcast faves like Judge John Hodgeman, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, How To Do Everything, This American Life, Planet Money, and The Skeptic's Guide To the Universe.

Well, I guess I should introduce myself as well.

I'm Lindsey, and this project was my baby. After going to see The Nerdist podcast during C2E2 and then seeing Kevin Smith do a Q&A, and BOTH talk about how fun podcasting is, I decided that I wanted to try it myself.

I've been a life-long reader, and always have at least 2 books started at a time. In addition to being almost like a virtual book club, this is giving me an excuse to clean out my overfull bookshelves and to make room for new material.

I'm insanely new to the world of graphic novels, having read Maus in high school/college and not much else. I blew threw Watchmen this year and I'm relishing that chance to talk about some of these books with other people.

My favorite series by far has to be Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I will read anything I can put my hands on, so it's hard for me to pinpoint actual genres and authors and books that are my favorite.

Right now, I just finished the books for this week's show, but I'm also reading:
The Sandman, Vol. 4 Season of Mists by Neil Gaiman
and
The Good Soldiers by David Finkel

Stephanie Palmer | 1 comments Hello,
My name is Stephanie. I love to read and am usually reading three books at a time, but not all at the same time...too confusing. I'm doing a lot of reading for a writing project for school over the summer and into the next couple of semesters. It is a topic I enjoy reading about and doing research in so it isn't all bad. Because of this I don't know how much fictional pleasure reading I'll be able to squeeze in this semester but if you all keep posting about how great a book is I'll probably have to read it (hint: post a lot about how great books are to force me to take breaks). To give you an idea of what I've been reading for my project i just finished Darkness at Noon,Journey into the Whirlwind, and A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. Here is what I am currently reading:The Cultural Front: Power and Culture in Revolutionary Russia
The Voices of the Dead: Stalin's Great Terror in the 1930sEveryday Stalinism: Ordinary Life in Extraordinary Times: Soviet Russia in the 1930s
