I think I would prefer LeBouf. He's got the skinny nerdy thing going on and he has better acting chops. I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around Daniel as Ig. It doesn't fit. It's like having Hailey Joel Osment play the part.
Well, on his blog, Joe Hill said that he was extremely happy with Radcliffe as Ig. That's high praise, if the author thinks you're perfect for the part.
I actually think Daniel Radcliffe could pull it off... I really liked him in The Woman in Black, and only thought of him as "Harry" when The Boy kept saying "Jeez, why doesn't he just pull out his wand and _______?" whenever something bad happened. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the accent... I've never heard him do an American one and Ig isn't British...
I can't wait for this. I'm excited about Daniel doing the role. I think Shia would've been perfect if it were a comedy. In his defence I've only seen him in the Indian Jones movie and the Transformer movies. And all of those had that drama/comedy feel to it.
Same here - I've become much more a fan of Radcliffe than LeBouf -- and I think that he has more than enough acting chops -- he's been in film/stage since he was a child.
Has anyone else seen some of the shots of Radcliffe's "horns?" -- pretty nice interpretation, I thought.
they weren't what I pictured when I read the book but I think they're growing on me. (no pun intended)
I'm excited for this movie, I'm definitely going to go see. I like Radcliffe. Only ever seen him in Potter, but loved those, so I've no problem with it. Can't wait!
Ratcliffe played his part pretty well I thought, though (view spoiler).
Watched it and loved it, differed a lil from th book but still loved it
Jennifer wrote: "Watched it and loved it, differed a lil from th book but still loved it"Did you see it as a sneak peek somewhere? Lucky!
I'm re-reading right now in anticipation of going to see this the afternoon it comes out. I can't wait.
The horns are nothing like I imagine, especially because I'm reading right now, but they do look good.
I guess I'm a little behind the times...I want to wait to see it in the theater since I was already planning on it. (old fashioned O_o)
Rachel wrote: "i'm waiting too. It costs as much to rent on Amazon as a movie ticket."Really? That's a little silly! I love the movie theater experience and can't imagine paying the same to just see it on my couch.
Neither can I. I do hope that all the obnoxious moviegoers who talk/use their phones during movies choose to watch this one at home.
Rachel wrote: "Neither can I. I do hope that all the obnoxious moviegoers who talk/use their phones during movies choose to watch this one at home."I was at a movie yesterday (Gone Girl) and a man in the row behind me let his cell phone ring and go to voice mail THREE times during the movie. It was an obnoxious melody, not a ring. The movie goers that were squawking at him were more disruptive than his ringing phone, but it's the first time I've been in a movie where a patron has been asked by management to leave.
The theater where I saw Gone Girl has strict cell phone policy-use your phone during a movie, you're out, no refund. I saw Annabelle last Monday and the girl next to me was talking and texting and the girl next to my boyfriend was texting. The reclining "leather" seats are less of a draw when audiences are rude. Luckily Horns is playing at the chain where I saw Gone Girl...and I have gift certificate money from winning a contest.
As much as I love the movie experience I don't go to the fancy schmancy theater here. The regular theater is $10.75 and that one is $18. I just can't justify the expense. If I ever win the lottery....I think I'll have a home theater and then I can just eject anyone rude whenever I want!
I just got past the part of the book where we read Merrin's Morse Code letter. I wonder if that made it into the movie. I teared up.Again.
I picked this up on DVD last night at Wal-Mart, I was so excited to see it there I stopped in my tracks and darted across to grab it like 'yay, it's mine'! I've been eagerly awaiting my chance to watch it, so it was exciting, lol.I liked it quite well. It's been awhile since I read the book, so I don't remember it perfectly, but from what I do remember, it seemed like a good adaptation. I liked Daniel Radcliffe's performance, and while things went a little crazy towards the end (when the crazier stuff happens, lol), it was still pretty fun. The Merrin/Ig parts of it had me getting all teary-eyed, and when we see what happened to Merrin, I was almost wanting to cover my eyes, I didn't want to watch. There were also moments that had me laughing though too.
I'll definitely give it a re-watch soon, it was good :)
I feel I've won a little victory. I've run a movie/book club at the local library for a little over four years. They've never been willing to try anything even bordering on scary, but last week we decided to do Horns for our March selection! I can't wait!!!
I just watched this with my son and am completely flabbergasted at how poorly they adapted this book. I loved the book for so many reasons and this movie showed NONE of them.Had I watched this movie without reading the book it would have been an ok B Flick, but this movie was NOT a good reflection of Joe's book. :*(
Now I feel badly that I talked the book club into doing it! I know some of the lazier readers end up only watching the movie, and like I said, all by itself it would have been ok, but I don't want them judging the book by this movie.I'll never talk them into stepping out of their comfort zone again!

Radcliffe is an interesting choice for Ig, IMO. Better than LeBouf, I think, who comes off really cocky in his films. I just hope this film makes it to release. I still wish there was a way to see what the pilot for Locke & Key, which never did air.
