This topic is for discussing Delirium and Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver. Enjoy :D

💖 Gabriella 💖 (gabb_) LOVED Delirium and Pandemonium.. I probably had a heart attack at the end of Pandemonium and I cannot wait until Requiem comes out. Oliver's society was really imaginative.. Honestly, when I bought the book I had no idea as to what it was about and I was shocked with what I read. I soo love it. Love Alex.. TEAM ALEX all the way.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1040 comments I agree, Delirium was really good. Haven't had a chance to grab Pandemonium, but I'll try to soon!

💖 Gabriella 💖 (gabb_) As for Pandemonium, it's a must read. Oliver also has wrote, two little extras about Delirium that I hope to read..Hana and Annabel

Brianna | 9 comments I hear that this series is kind of low on the whole action scenes. Is that true? If so, was it hard to get into, and keep interested?

💖 Gabriella 💖 (gabb_) There are definitely action scenes in the book. They may not be the entire book, but there is most definitely action. I can think of a few instances where I was sitting straight up, reading as fast as I could, because it was so exciting. However, the beginning of the book is slow. Even though it was slow I did not find myself less interested. They really are great books and the whole concept of this society is really, very interesting. I would give it a try if I was you.

Arica Matedne | 2 comments Theres action, but it dosnt have it alot. Though what action scenes there are, are exciting and fast pace; You really feel like the situation is going on right aroung you. Also, Pandemonium almost had me crying at the end. :'(
Team Alex 100%! Cant wait for Requiem.

Limited action but more than Matched. It had my attention though from start to finish

Meaghan | 46 comments I loved Delirium (I assumed everything would eventually end how I wanted it to), Pandemonium got sketchy for me in parts Bc I'm not a huge fan of love triangles, and Requiem made me completely batty by the end!

Brianna | 9 comments Thanks guys. :)
I definitely want to read this more, now. I find the whole premise of love being a disease really intriguing.

I have read Delirium,Pandemonium and Hana and I enjoyed them immensely, when I first started the book I did not even know what it was about, I was pleasantly surprised. I read a lot of dystopia books and I must say that I enjoyed this dystopian society. I also just ordered Requiem,Annabel and Raven. If I was you I'd totally get on reading these :)

(get them from Amazon.com, super cheap!)

Requiem was amazing!!! Enjoy :)

Angelina (halcyondreamer) I really enjoyed Delirium, but I felt the concept was unoriginal.
Another good YA dystopian book series, Matched by Allie Condie, had pretty much the same storyline.
Delirium had a better introduction to the series, but Matched, I think, ended better.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1040 comments Cool, good to know about the Matched ending. I've only read the first book in that series so far, so I guess I need to keep reading :)

Prarthana | 7 comments I love delirium. the characters, the style of writing the very the concept of the series. Love as a disease-really makes you think. I personally think it could even work as a pick me up book for someone who is feeling all jaded about love after a bad breakup or something! :p in a way I think any dystopian book can really put your problems into perspective and delirium does the same with issues regarding all the themes it deals with. Most importantly its an enjoyable read that difficult to put down. I hate the cliffhangers at the ends of both delirium and pandemonium though! :p

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1040 comments Angel wrote: "I love Delirium! The book messed with my 'feelings' lol. Love as a disease is a very intriguing concept. I'm going to read the short stories then continue reading the series with Pandemonium. I'm s..."

Hope you enjoy the shorties and the sequel, get ready for another massive cliffhanger!

I agree about Oliver's writing style, pretty amazing :)

Nordlys | 11 comments I didn't like Delirium as much as I had hoped. I thought it was alright, but I had no problems putting it down, and I prefer books that I just can't put down:) I haven't read Pandemonium yet, not sure if I will. I have some other books I want to read first anyway.

Kayla De Leon (kayladeleon) THE ENDING OF REQUIEM WAS HEARTLESS AND CRUEL AND COLD AND OMG THE FEELS.

Audrey | 26 comments I lovelovelovelovelove Requiem, Pandemonium, and Delirium! Currently my favorite books:)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1040 comments Lol so good!

Made Rexvi | 6 comments i haven't read requiem yet, since pandemonium was a disappointment to me, it's on my to-read list though, but i'm not too sure about reading it.

Lex | 14 comments It was okay. The plot was interesting but the characters aren't very deep.

Zoe Cannon (zoecannon) I liked Delirium a lot. The world wasn't very plausible, but I didn't have a problem with that, because it felt more like an allegory about teen love to me than a sci-fi novel. It didn't need a plausible world. I thought Lauren Oliver did a great job of exploring what it's like to fall in love for the first time, and wrapping it in the framework of a dystopian society.

I was not, however, a fan of Requiem. It felt to me like the author made the world too big in Pandemonium and then wasn't sure how to handle that in Requiem. Plus a love triangle, blah.

I honestly think Delirium would have been better off as a stand-alone than as the start of a trilogy.

I haven't read Requiem yet but I actually liked Pandemonium more than Delirium, though the books were completely different so Delirium probably could have worked as a stand alone.

Amber Myers | 21 comments OMG!!! I loved every single book in the Delirium books and let me say great books XD loved them i mean how is love against everything? Like who came up with that idea. The only thing is the last book kinda cut off a lot DX like the end was great but what happens next? I mean there is a little bit more that could have happened and i would have loved to know. Why is it up to me to fill in the little details for myself? O.o its killer that way DX

Hehe I think I'm one of the few who really liked the ending :)

Amber Myers | 21 comments @David
I liked the ending it was just really open haha :P

Mary (marydons) I tried the first book a couple of months ago but I didn't like it very much. Then 2 weeks ago I saw that my town library had the second book so I decided to try it. I didn't make it very far. Lena (I think thats her name) is just a very flat character. She has no emotions and just sits around for weeks after she's found.

Delirium was great! Pandemonium sucked though.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1040 comments Amber wrote: "@David

Lol oh ok, I know what you mean, it was definitely open!

Amber Myers | 21 comments @David
yeah that was the only thing that bothered me other wise it was amazing

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1040 comments Hehe I don't think you're alone!

Amber Myers | 21 comments Glad to know :D

Tiffany | 9 comments i absouletly loved this series! i wished it did not end! Also wished that it would become a movie/ tv series

Isabel (isabellacey) I kinda liked delirium but i HATED the ending! I am a fourth through pandemonium and i cant finish it! I hate it its so sad and i already know how it all ends! Its just continuing to be sad, if they brought back Alex earlier then maybe i'd finish it.

Gabrielle (gabbilupe2012) | 7 comments I so want to read this series

Charysse | 1 comments I'm currently reading Delirium and it's not bad.
It's a good way to pass time, but I wouldn't recommend it.
The characters have little depth to them and I can only really appreciate Alex and Hana because they seem to be the only good characters in the book.
The book had a lot of potential, but it definitely did not meet the expectations I had for it, which is beyond disappointing.

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) | 364 comments I agree Charysse - so much potential, but...
I did really like the first book, but the next two were disappointing.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 1040 comments Personally, I loved the whole series, mostly because of the overall concept and the quality of the writing. I don't know, maybe it just resonated with me for some reason...not sure why :)
