Yeah...I really have no idea how to view this kind of stuff with ebooks. It seems to me that there are lot more limitations placed on ebooks then there are on regular books. Though none of my friends have ereaders so it's not a problem that I've had to deal with yet though I can see it coming up in the near future.

There are systems which enable you to lend an ebook. Like a dead-tree book, whilst it is lent you can't read it. Google 'lending ebooks' for you specific ereader and you will find an explanation of the what is allowed. Normally it is part of the copyright/licensing agreement and different for each publisher.
