We've already had our first nomination for September. It is William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury nominated by Aloha. Keep the nominations coming.

Aloha | 69 comments Thanks, David. It's a book that would be great for discussion.

Beth (eparks4232) | 21 comments I'd be good with that, too. I've never read it, and have it sitting on my shelf waiting.

Angus (angusmiranda) The Sound and the Fury is amazing! I won't make nominations for September since it looks like we'll be doing The Tin Drum (which I nominated) for August.

Traveller (moontravlr) | 2 comments Sound And Fury seconded.

OK, nominations for our September read have been open for almost a month and to date the only book nominated is William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury. I will close nominations on Friday next, 24th August.

Katy (kathy_h) My vote goes to The Sound and the Fury so I will hold my nomination until later in year. I have had this book on my TBR shelf forever so would appreciate the chance to be motivated to read and discuss it.

Aloha | 69 comments Since it's the 9th, does it mean I lead The Sound and the Fury group tomorrow, David?

message 9: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 69 comments Never mind. It just occurred to me to check the main page, where it says the discussion will start on the 17th. Oh, good, because I am very, very behind in my book reviews.

Aloha | 69 comments Too many good books are being waved in front of my nose, and great people to have a discussion with! Not a bad problem to have.

Totally agree. And then there is, of course, real life... (which in my case involves a job, a 4 year old, and a spouse who works 60 hours a week.

Angus (angusmiranda) And oops! I'm not even done with The Tin Drum. I'm really going through it slowly. Not that it's a bad book, it's just that I've been really busy lately. :/

message 14: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 69 comments I hear ya about real life. That's what takes up most of my time. Whine, whine, whine. It's. Good thing I don't need much sleep.

It might be a good idea to convert our September read to our October read and move the start date for The Sound and the Fury to say, October 1st? What do you think?

message 16: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 69 comments I think that's a good idea, David. It looks like The Tin Drum needs a little more time, too.

message 17: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 21 comments I would love that!

message 18: by Katy (new)

Katy (kathy_h) That would work for me too!

message 19: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 69 comments I saw that the group read for The Sound and the Fury has been changed to October 1. Thanks, David.
