Indie Sci-Fi?

Wow, so either nobody in this group is writing strong indie sci-fi, or nobody's reading it. Wonder which it is?
The end of the world is just the beginning. That's the tag line I'm using for my next novel scheduled for publication in 2013 through Whiskey Creek Press. It's titled Splinter and is an apocolyptic sci-fi novel that takes place in the year 3001 on a space station orbiting Jupiter. I don't have much available now as it was recently contracted, but you can be sure I'll be screaming all over Goodreads, Twitter and Facebook once I get more info - cover art, ARC, blurb, etc. So don't worry. You'll know when it's coming :)
Sounds both unique and intriguing. Thanks Sherri!
There's one. Anyone else either working on writing sci-fi or reading it in the indie market?
For example, I read Empire by Michael Hicks last year -- I really liked the first two, but the end of the third one disappointed me (I have a thing about endings), and I haven't read any more of his work since. Looking for more sci-fi that might have ended up on the shelves at Baen.

I'm writing a sci-fi series in short/serial format. The first two installments are out and I'm getting good feedback on them. It's definitely far future/deep space stuff.Might try Steve Umstead's Gabriel books, too.
You already know about my book, so I'll avoid self-promotion. I recently read On Silver Wings, Friends in Deed, Alone on the Edge and Sovran's Pawn and reviewed them all.
I've heard good things about Umstead's books.
Thanks Cassandra for the recommendations with links.

I recently published a novel called Prometheus Comes that probably falls into Space Opera (at least part of it--two interrelated story arcs). It has received a couple good reviews. One review can be found here on Goodreads, the other on Smashwords. Free samples can be found on both sites.
If you are willing to give me an honest review, I would be happy to send you a Smashwords coupon for a free review copy. I'm not afraid of constructive criticism. Otherwise it is on sale at Amazon for $0.99. It's the last day of the sale so it will be going up to $2.99 tomorrow.
Hi Christopher. Sorry I haven't responded sooner--busy proofing Book 2 in my science fiction series. Never quite worked out what space opera os so not sure if it woll interest you, but feel free to have a look at it: IMPERFECT WEAPON http://www.amazon.co.uk/Imperfect-Wea... or for the US http://www.amazon.com/Imperfect-Weapo... It's available as an eBook and in paperback and the first 3 chapters are available for download onto your PC from http://www.abpotts.co.uk/ImperfectWea... :-) I hope that helps. Best regards.

I do indie book reviews on my blog, and I'd be happy to give yours a run-through. If you want to send me an e-pub or a Smashwords coupon, you can find me at eisengoth (at) gmail (dot) com.

The WOOL series by Hugh Howley.
The first in the series is a novelette that Mr. Howley is now offering for free everywhere. Get it. Read it.

I can't say I'm writing far future sci-fi, but my near future (100 years) military and sci-fi is out. Mind, I'm always on the look out for good military/hard sci-fi.

I've seen a fair amount of the near-future stuff and the what-if-speculative kind, but my real love is space opera. It seems to be hard to find outside of a few trade-published authors these days.
Any recommendations would be welcome!
