Name: River Danielles Gender: Female
Age: 19
Alpha: Empathetic Contagion- (view spoiler)
*If the emotion is particularly strong she may start to feel that way (Ex: someone is depressed and thinking of committing suicide, those feelings may transfer over to her)
Appearance:

Description:
River has a flawless tan complexion along with shoulder length, layered hair that is a light brown and falls in loose waves. Her side bangs often fall in her face to hide her piercing green eyes that seem to hold a deep sadness. She stands at 5’11” with long, lanky limbs and light curves that are usually hidden by the baggy clothes she usually wears.
River is a very anti-social person, she doesn’t want to be but in her mind she has to be. River hates her ability, that’s why she is always avoiding people. River has few to no friends because of how hard she tries to stay away from people, she was always looked at as a freak and a weirdo when she was in school, it hurt but she forced herself through it and became the tough, stubborn, smart, sarcastic girl she is.
Background: River’s powers started to kick in when she was 10 years old but she never thought of them as powers she just thought she was a very empathetic person or at least that’s what her parents told her. River was able to handle her families emotions because most of the time they were happy so the emotions she felt were wonderful but when she turned 15 her mother was hit by a drunk driver while she was on her way home from work. Everything in her home changed, the happiness was gone and River couldn’t handle all the sadness so she locked herself away from her father and brother who needed her the most right then. She avoided her family all together, she hated herself for doing it but she didn’t know what else she could do that’s, when she learned about her ability to pass on her own emotions. Once day when she was having dinner in silence with her brother and father she felt the enormous amount of sadness emanating off both her brother and father, she couldn’t take it anymore and she tried to remember all the happy moments in her life to wash away the sadness and soon the darkness that had she felt from her family was gone, replaced by a warmer, fuzzy sensation, happiness. After that she started to spend more time with her family but she always knew that her family was only ever happy because she somehow made them that way. River graduated high school as the valedictorian and could have gone to any school she wanted to with a full scholarship but after what she had to deal with all those dreadful years of high school she chose to take online college courses so that she would never be forced to be around hormonal teenagers again. She has always wondered if there are others like her and will always be looking.
Family: Father (Darrel), Younger Brother (Elijah)
Other: She always wears the necklace her mom got her for her 13th birthday.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Name: Serena Park-MarksonGender: Female
Age: 22
Alpha: Sonic (view spoiler)
Appearance:

Description: With straight black hair and cloudy blue eyes, Serena could be considered a beauty. She stands at 5' 6" with a strong physique and a heart-shaped jawline, smooth cheekbones and creamy skin. Her smile is a bit forced at times but her gaze is firm, if unfocused. She looks very young for her age, but she lets the comment slip by as if she never heard it.
Serena has a problem with people thinking that she's weak. She also has a problem with people pitying her after they find out that she has a disability. After all, she's completely blind. She has the cane, the sunglasses, everything to give signals to everybody else that she is a handicapped, hopeless, helpless weight to society that pretends to be good natured so that everybody else around her doesn't have to feel bad about being lucky bastards that can see.
Well... That's not entirely true.
Serena is definitely a convincing liar. Her personality allows her to have no remorse for lying every day to everyone she meets and knows about being blind. And it also allows her to taste the burning fear of being discovered and turned into a lab rat. Due to the latter, Serena is hesitant to let people get close to her, and physical contact is as scary as the thought of being without her Alpha... being truly helpless.
Background: Serena has always had a problem with letting people in on her life. Her mother and father babied her out of pity for both her and for themselves; for being burdened with such a child. She hated the ways she appeared to them, nothing but a pain. Serena knew from the time she was born, she was different. She wasn't blind. She wasn't impaired. And she wasn't a cripple. But from the way people spoke to her, the way she saw them move with her 'mind's eye', they thought she was. Her retenas were damaged beyond surgery, beyond medicine's capabilities of healing. A doctor's diagnosis at the age of 4 confirmed that she would always be in need of a cane and braile training. With every extra special comfort for their daughter, Serena could see her parents withering.
Serena hated it. She could definitely see something. Shimmering blue lines, every time something made noise. There would be a brief pause, but if she snapped, she would recieve a picture of everything around her. In front of her. Behind her. Under her. Above her. But it wasn't normal.
Normal.
Serena hated that word. It was what caused her to have to hide, to cower in fear, to sweat icy bullets every time she thought someone was close to discovering her secret, or even beginning to sniff at it. She couldn't let anybody know. She didn't want the horror stories of laboratory testing to come true. She just wanted to live her life in peace, without the fears that startled her into obediently reading braile and bruising when she pretended to hit doors or tables.
It was a good couple of years before she came to realize that she was stuck like this: between acting or the threat of crazy scientists. And she's come to the decision that fear is better than pain.
Family:
Father; Christopher Markson
Mother; Regina Park
Other: When the sounds she hears are too loud, or there are too many conflicting soundwaves, she has the tendency to pass out from sensory overload and/or bleed from the ears. What with the lack of reports of people like her (blind, but able to use echolocation), she does not actively seek out other Alphas; though a part of her wants to know that she isn't alone with her 'gift'.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Name: Oliver RileyGender: M
Age: 21
Alpha: Hyperkinetic - For Hyperkinetics the mind's imaging systems and muscle control are perfectly in tune with the motor skills center of the brain. Hyperkinetics possess flawless aim, perfect balance, and greatly enhanced motor skills. (Traits: emotional, athletic, suspicious, unmotivated; Analysis: Hyperkinetics tend to have a deep mistrust in authority and typically resist seeking help with emotional and psychological problems. Hyperkinetics create troubling situations for themselves by not accepting assistance when needed.)
Appearance:

Description: Oliver is the kind of guy that has a lot of "friends" but no best buddies. He is sociable to a point and can be rather friendly if he wants, but he never lets people get too close. This is partly due to his abilities and partly because it is very difficult for him to trust people in general. He hates being told what to do and will go off on someone if they try to. He just goes around doing his own thing most of the time at his own pace(meaning some days he is crazy productive and other days he just stays in his room watching movies. Some days he is surprisingly sensitive and understanding and other days he can appear to be an emotionless robot.
Background: Oliver grew up in Texas on a farm and it wasn't long before his parents discovered his abilities. A six year old doing Olympic status tricks wasn't normal and would soon catch the attention of others if they weren't careful. They moved after that and started homeschooling Oliver at the age of eight. They let him go play at the park after dark when the rest of the kids and families had gone home so he could still have his fun. By the time he was heading into high school, his parents decided that it was time to let him socialize more and were surprised at how well he started fitting in. They let him join sports such as gymnastics, wrestling, and soccer so long as he promised not to be the best of the team or group and restrained himself. He was still recruited for college athletics which is how he got to the town where this takes place.
Family: Mother- Cassandra Riley-deceased, Father- Bill Riley
Other: Oliver has yet to know about what and Alpha is. He just thinks he has superpowers in a way(His mom told him he's special :P) and does not search for other Alphas like him.
(I tried really hard to make her different from Gary Bell (for those of you who have seen the show), but if you see anything I can do to make her less similar without inherently changing her character, let me know.)
Name: Kara Addison
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Alpha: Transducer (view spoiler)
Appearance:
Description: Kara looks very young, like she's twelve, or maybe fourteen. She has bright orange waves of hair that reach almost down to her waist. Each morning, her mother brushes and braids her hair, as Kara hates it being loose, but likes it too much to cut it. She has grey eyes full of naive belief in humanity, very pale skin, and a small face. Her voice is high and quiet, and her speech is often comparable to that of a precocious, overly-intelligent child.
Her mother is very overprotective, and Kara despises her for that. They have a rather strained relationship, especially as Kara relates best to her father. Her curiousity and thirst for knowledge is insatiable, she is incredibly smart, at least as far as academics are concerned. Along with her "peculiarities," Kara is unfortunately tempermental. Anything can set her off, and any mood (good or bad) is liable to change in an instant. As she is very sensitive, Kara is easily hurt. With that sensitivity though, she is quick to pick up on other people's feeling; if they're angry, sad, happy... However how she attempts to comfort or interact with these people is often poorly-recieved.
In her mind, she is a circus freak, and finds herself very alone.
Background: When Kara was litte, she was originally treated for schizophrenia. When Kara was ten and managed to figure out how to change the tv channels via her ability, her father realized it was some sort of ability, and took her off the medication, much to her mother's dismay. Though it is likely Kara has some mental disorder, it remains currently undiagnosed. She was homeschooled after a disasterous first grade and graduated from high school at fifteen. She has multiple college degrees already, and is currently working for more. Her father jokingly calls her a professional student.
Family: Faith - mother, normal (non-Alpha), works from home; Sarah - younger sister, normal; Tyler - father, normal, financial advisor
Other: Has an expired driver's permit, but does not have a license. The first time she tried to drive left her terrified to where she did not speak for a week, and she has not asked to drive since. Even being in a car makes her uncomfortable, let alone a bus or any other vehicle lacking a seatbelt.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

(Sorry, it's short.)
Name: Derek Johanson
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Alpha: Influencer (view spoiler)
Appearance:
Description: Derek is pretty average. Average height, with plain, short, light brown hair, and typical brown eyes. He hates being average. So he loves being able to push people. It takes him above them, makes him more than just average. He is smart and obviously good at convincing people, most people, anyways. Like any other Influencer, he is selfish, caring only about his wants and desires. A sophisticated, intuitive mind accompanies his abilities likewise.
Background: Derek was spoiled as a child. Everytime he told his parents he wanted something, he got it. It wasn't their fault, of course, they stood no chance. It didn't take Derek long to figure out that he was special, and that he would always get his way, and he is at fault of constantly abusing his ability. After moving out, he started attending college, but it is irregular, as he only goes when he feels like it.
Family: Only child, moved out after he graduated from high school, and hasn't really talked to his parents since.
Other: Lives in a penthouse upstate. He doesn't own it, of course, but he did manage to convince the landlord to let him "borrow" it indefinitely. He can only push people if he touches them, so eye contact or simple voice command does not do the trick.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
