I'll be interested to see what people think of this one. I really struggled with it. I found it too chaotic and didn't find any other characters compelling. The narrative is deliberately fragmentary reflecting the effect of the narcotics but for me this made it a very difficult read.
You can tell that Narcopolis was written by a poet. The book has the mystical feel of an epic poem. The style of the prose really suits the theme of the work, mirroring the drug induced haze of many of the characters. It deserves its place on the Booker shortlist. 4 stars (http://vikzreadsthebooker.wordpress.c...)
