Hi Donna,I'd like to nominate a book but the link in your message doesn't work so I can't check whether she has been read before.
Here's the link. http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...
You can also access the group bookshelf from the links in the box in the upper right corner of this page.

Is there a topic or theme to fit with the books we nominate? If there is and I've missed it, I apologize. My nomination is set in 1940 in London and is a mystery/spy thriller. Widely available. I'll nominateMr. Churchill's Secretary by Susan Elia MacNeal.
How are we going to go back in time? Nominations open until August 4th with voting through 7/11. I want a clock that continues to go backwards. ;)

Hi Jannene. Thanks for catching that.:)
Hi Jannene. Thanks for catching that.:)
are we allowed to nominate a book we haven't read yet?(if so i would be happy to get it ahead of time in order to be able to still function as a discussion moderator)
I'd like to nominate The Gigolo Murder by Mehmet Murat Somer, please.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/64...
Hi Rachel. Yes it's fine to nominate a book you haven't read yet.
Judith - no set themes this month so your nomination is fine too.

I'd like to nominate "The Last Kind Words" by Tom Piccarilli. I just read it and recommend it because it has an original plot with well drawn, unique characters in an imaginative mystery.
I'd like to nominate The End of the Wasp Season by Denise Mina. This is the second in a series, but I read it first, and it stands alone just fine.
I just bought this, would be nice to read it with you guys:The Baptism of Billy Bean by Roger Alan Skipper.
A thriller that will grab you and keep you continually engaged in the white collar crime of medical insurance and suspense is my nomination of MARKER by Robin Cook. It's one of the best mystery and suspense novels I've ever read.

Hi John, it looks like you are the author of this book. Unfortunately, we do not accept nominations from authors for group reads.

See the list of rules in message #1, John. You can open a thread about your book in the "Author's Corner" folder or in the "In the Press, Blogs and Sites" folder if you'd like.

Of course, it's one I don't yet own. Hey ho.
I would like to nominate
Deadly Nevergreen by Goodreads author L.J.Clayton. It is not part of a series and I am happy to put my reputation where my mouth is (so to speak) and 100% recommend it as a real gem of a gritty crime novel that will probably be most liked by people who enjoy Minette Walters or P.D. James.
It has just been released but is available worldwide in Kindle and paperback form. It is also available to borrow from the Kindle Premium library and is currently a Goodreads Giveaway.
I am not the author but I am part of the publishing house that has published it. If it goes through as a read - I may be able to make it free to download from Kindle for a day so that members can get it without having to pay for it. We won't be making it free otherwise.
I would like to nominate
by Nora McFarland she sent me an ARC which I read during my vacation. Funny with a good mystery - it was good but not too heavy so sounds right for end of the summer.
Hi Ruth, I'll have to nix that one, I'm afraid. It's being published on the 7th of August and the group members will probably not be able to get hold of a copy in time. (See comment to rules in post #1)
How about nominating it next month?

nice read also especially the second half of the
book after she had established the characters.
HiI nominate
It's by a north east british author and is being made into a series right now. This is the first one of four and they are set on the Shetland Islands. I dont know about US libraries but it is readily and cheaply available on amazon.com

Voting through 8/12. http://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/19...
This month we will have just one open category but the top 2 books in the voting will be the two featured books.
General rules for Group Reads
1) If your nomination wins - you will be the discussion moderator.
2) One (1) nomination only per person. Authors: no self-nominations, please.
3) Please do not repeat an author we have read in the last year. Check the bookshelves to see the authors we've read in the past year. http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...
4) For your nomination please include Title, Author and Link (use the "add book/author" link at top of comment box).
Since we are an international group, please check to make sure the book is readily available. Is it available in paperback? Used? Your local library? The last thing we want is to nominate a great book that no one can get!
Finally, a word about series - the joy or bane of a mystery reader’s life! Please consider whether the book you are nominating would be best read by someone who has read all the previous books in the series or can be enjoyed by someone new to the series too.
