So Jem must live because I just realised that Cassandra's new series the main character's last name is Carstairs so she must be a desendant of Jem right? Therefore Jem has to live to have kids as he has no brothers or sisters to carry on the Carstairs name. So do you think he they will be Tessa's children as well?

I relly hope that that will be true. I thought the exact same thing when I read the summary of the story. It would be so freaking awesome if it were possible that Jem could live after all, and that Tessa could have his children. So I guess we'll find out next year. I really can't wait.

Yeah, but i read that there are other Carstairs that are still alive during Clockwork Prince, he has extended family, with the name, he is not the last male to carry the name on. I believe he will die, especially after the last few snippets that Cassandra has posted. (of Clockwork Princess) but Will IS the last Hereondale male to carry on the name (besides his dad, and I do not see them having more kids at their age) but in reality, they all are dead anyway, it was hundreds of years ago by the time we get to TMI

I was SO excited when I saw the name Emma Carstairs in the summary for Lady Midnight! I am pretty sure that Jem didn't have any existing family, so that means that he has to live for at least a while longer, to have kids. Fingers crossed that he'll live!

I would love it if Jem and Tessa had children but we are all forgetting that Tessa CAN'T have children.

I don't think that has been confirmed yet? But I don't think she would have kids either way, it must be terrible to watch your children and grandchildren die knowing you can't follow them.

i'd say that since Tessa can't have kids that he would probably be with someone else although ...it can always be different

maybe it doesn't necessarily have to be a direct descendant. it could be a relative....

Jem becomes unsilent brothered in CoHF. TDA are set 5? Years after that so if he and tessa had kids they would not be the age Emma is so its probably a distant relation. Tessa can have kids she and Will have children it says in Clockwork Princess epilogue and their children feature in TLH.
