This is really really good. If I'm reading and the words and structure of the sentences make me shiver, I know I'm in the company of a WRITER. There be metafiction here, but it's done so cleverly, it's all silent unless you look for it. This book has negative spaces like in visual art. So cool.

I just want to read it and re-read it again, and not even for the story (though that's pretty cute) but the righting is just like ambrosia! I want to meet Cath Crowley and unravel her secrets! "Negative spaces" I love that.

Well guys, I really-really liked the book so here is my review: I was watching, out of curiosity, a show on the Mtv called ''teen cribs'' and it got me frustrated and a little bit mad. There are parents out there who intentionally allow their children to brag about THINGS. When there are kids and teenagers who can't even make it through the day! But who cares right? As long as I am the one with the big house and fancy car. -and these people call themselves cultured and sophisticated, yeah right! You'll say: did you just wake up and smelled the coffee of social differences? No, but I just had to let it out of my system.
So, I'm getting to my point and connecting all of the above rant with the current book: well it was definitely a young adult book worthy of reading! It was really fast paced and it didn't have any vampires, angels or dragons but what do you know!, it was interesting even without them! Its main characters are Lucy: a vivid and smart girl who is in search of a graffiti artist, the Shadow and Ed: a boy who grew up without all of the above amenities in life and through his talent in graffiti (and with Lucy's help at some point) tries to revive the dead bird inside him...
What connects them? Their love about art and their belief in second chances.
Conclusion: It is not always something bad lurking in the shadows.

@Anastasia- Love the review! And I totally agree that shows like MTV cribs really showcases the hypocrisy and singlemindedness of society, which glorify such mindless extravagance.

Yes, all of this needless and mindless extravagance as you say, makes me angry sometimes.
Someone might call me weird or even bitter but for me a house is just a place to live in and diamonds are just shiny rocks.

Couldn't say it any better my friend. Materialism and consumer culture is running the world into the ground

Yay! Hope you enjoy it ;)
I just finished today. I'm not really good at making good reviews, but all I have to say is I really love the way it's told. Usually when read a book that was alternately told by two characters, it is usually a collaboration. This one was not so I thought that was interesting.
