I read the Beaumonts back when I was just starting with mysteries. Over the years he went from hard boiled to pacified.
I used to love the J.P. Beaumont books, but think Barry's right (boy, does it hurt to say THAT!) about them. Haven't read one in a long time. Of course, I love the Crais books, whether Elvis & Joe or standalone, except for HOSTAGE. That one was pretty bad.
Dan: Good looking month! I liked The Breathtaker; loved Mission Flats and am intrigued about your comment about the crazies worse than Tomlinson in Chasing Midnight
You were busy reading this month Dan! Looks like quite a few good ones too. J.A. Jance has always been one of my favorites!

I too really liked Mission Flats but have pretty much given up on Randy Wayne White.
Sandy wrote: I too really liked Mission Flats but have pretty much given up on Randy Wayne White.i liked Doc Ford better when more time was spent on him as a marine biologist rather than yet another secret agent man, but I'm still plugging away at the series.

2. Boca Daze,Steven Forman. More hijinks in Boca Raton that Eddie Perlmuter manages to control.
3. Two Minute Rule, Robert Crais. Released convict's cop son is killed. He doesn't believe official explanation, and his investigation turns up some interesting facts.

5. The Killer, Jack Elgos. IRA hitman finds out all is not as it seems.
6. Free Fall, Robert Crais. Elvis investigates special unit of LAPD after a cop's girlfriend comes to him for help.
7. Chasing Midnight, Randy Wayne White. Doc Ford gets tied up with caviar gangsters and crazy eco-terrorists. For a change, someone might be nuttier than Tomlinson.
8. Mission Flats, William Landay. Boston DA found dead in small Maine town. Case leads to investigation of several other deaths that aren't quite what they seemed to be when they occurred years before.
9. Bad Chemistry, Gary Krist. Female ex-cop moves to DC to become social worker with unusual results.
10. The Breathtaker, Alice Blanchard. Tornados bring more than the usual destruction in Tornado Alley.
11. Drift Away, Jeff Shelby. Noah continues in Florida and helps out girl and her son.
12. The Innocent, David Baldacci. Audio book I didn't finish because I can't do audio. The 3 chapters I listened to didn't do much for me anyway.
12A. Desert Heat, J.A. Jance. First Joanna Brady book is start of her new career.
13. Until Proven Guilty, J.A. Jance. First J.P. Beaumont book where he investigates murder of 5 y.o. girl.
14. Key Wierd, Robert Tacoma. Taco Bob heads to Key West after his possum farm in Texas folds. From possums to sunken treasure makes for a very wierd book; I'll try the 2nd one in the series if I can get the Kindle edition for $2.99 like the first one.
