Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter: Thoughts?

Here's a copy of my review for this novel (no spoilers):
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a fictitious account of President Abraham Lincoln's secret life as a bloodthirsty vampire killer, and the events that fueled his rage.
When I first heard about Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, I thought, "No way. This has to be a comedy." But no. It's not. It's written as a biography, and is very well-written at that. The structure is pretty clean as well, with little excerpts here and there of a "Lincoln diary."
I myself happen to be an Abraham Lincoln fanatic. I wrote tons of essays and reports about him, especially on his childhood, so I consider myself to be quite knowledgable on this. And I kid you not, over 90% of this book is pure and total fact.
Yes. It is. So, basically, this is an actual biography on Abraham Lincoln. Edit out the vampire bits, and just about everything else is true.
Now, about the book itself, it was very entertaining, in my opinion. Those who aren't big fans of nonfiction will probably find it difficult to get through. If you are, however, you should enjoy it immensely.
One of my favorite things about it is how the author didn't pry at the history, or push aside things to fit his story in. He didn't say "this event in history wasn't true, but this one was." He found the cracks between the facts and laid down his story in those. Really, there is no possible way of knowing whether or not Abraham Lincoln really was a vampire hunter not. For all you know, this book could be completely true. That's how well-written and well-researched this story is.
This novel his highly recommended.

I read Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter before joining this group, and I agree with almost everything you've said. I was surprised at how accurate it is too. And I also assumed that it was a comedy :). Though it isn't one of my favorites, I do love how well-researched it is
I agree with your review too Faize. It was well researched and well written. I enjoyed it immensely and finished it over the course of less than 5 days (got it evening of Tuesday and finished first thing this morning)Considering I also read over half a dozen ebooks, worked on some baby blankets, plus cared for my family and home; I think that made a pretty good time to get through 14 chapters. I loved the sudden twist in Chapter 14 though- never saw that coming
As I said in the first thread, this is not a book I normally would have picked up. I guess I put it in the same league as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which I didn't enjoy to the point I couldn't finish it, which is very very rare for me. I was pleasantly surprised by this. It's well-written and clever in theory, though I did find the execution lacking at times. As a biography it was good but the vampire story element was missing something for me. I never felt fearful or really any kind of emotional connection to this book, which is something that makes me love a book.
Overall, it was a pleasant read but not really my taste.
Nice review Faize.I finished reading the book in two days which surprised me since when I first tried to read I almost give up. Its a good thing I didn't.
Like I said, in one of my posts, I didn't know Abraham Lincoln that much. And if I have read a biography about him, it contains only brief details of his life. So this book got me curious. The author is a genius for combining the concept of vampires with real history. And the last part was unexpected. Though this one didn't scare me at all; still it was a fantastic read' cause I find Lincoln's life interesting. [I'm not American btw] So I decided to read a biography of his. Though I haven't got to pick anything yet.
So it is a good book??? I started it before but couldnt stay interested in it. Does it get better if you keep reading it?
I enjoyed this book so much, I decided to start reading some of the other books out there similar to this genre. I have Grave Expectations to start and would like to move on eventually to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies :)The rest that I want to say, may spoil so I will hold off on that :)

I really love this book! I only read it to make fun of my friends boy did that bite me in the butt! lol! The way the story and history was weaved to gather had me on google just so I did forget it was just a story. lol!

The way the story and history was weaved to gather had me on google just so I did forget it ..."As I explained to my husband what made this so thrilling for me was in fact that he took a well researched and well written biography of Lincoln (which has holes and gaps as would that of many historical figures and just laid the vampire tale over it like grout between tiles. Also my kudos to the photoshopper in those pictures :)
Whilst I enjoyed the beginning, towards the end, I too thought it lost some of its momentum. I did like the way it spun fact and fiction together so well, and vampires are always a subject I am in favour of, so it was, overall, a good read.
Oh, and without meaning to give anything away, why does the novel not go back to the beginning of the story (with the guy being given the journals to write a novel about) and resolve that situation - unless we are meant to speculate that the vampire who gave him the journals is one of the main guys we come to learn about through the journals themselves?
When i started reading this book i was apprehensive, its one of those titles that makes you think Really Lincoln, Vampires. But i was surprised to find i actually liked it, the format the language and the story. i practically raced throught the first half and now im finding it to drag and im having to make my self read a few pages at a time.(excuse my spelling for someone who reads an awful lot my spelling is appalling )

But you are right that it would have been nice to see H come back to the store. Plus that way we can learn what happened to him (A, H and S)
I read it for the second time this month. Although I don't often read paranormal-creature fiction, I really enjoyed it; the fact & fiction fit together so well.
Although the story is well researched and well written it does not change the fact that the story is dark and depressing. I prefer to not read depressing stories as I read to be entertained
