Isaac Anyone spotted some cool anniversary editions yet?
I've found one on Amazon with some nice cover art: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/19...

May this book never be forgotten.

Paul Tupper Yeah, I just read this edition. It was abridged, for which I was grateful. Still an amazing read.

Isaac I did not know it was an abridged edition.

From the looks of the Amazon preview, they cut out the first chapter and a lot of the later ones.

Many fans of The Night Land recommend skipping the first chapter. It has practically nothing to do with the main story. But I still like it because it has a thematic link with the the plot.

Many of the later chapters are also relatively non-essential I suppose because by then...

*minor spoilers*

...the main goal of the story has been reached. Yet we have to watch the main character make his return journey as if it was as just as important as the main quest.

*end spoilers*

I love the whole thing though. And, if you can face it, you might want to check out the unabridged version, even if not to read the whole thing.

That first chapter in particular is not for everyone, but The Night Land is a unique book, and imo worth revisiting down the line.

Michael Hill It has been decades since I read The Nightland, in two books. It is excellent and made a real impression on me at the time.
Yet another book I want to read again some day.
