Belladonna road into town with rose. She looked around and saw that a lot of people were looking at them. She shrugged. The townspeople were always wary of newcomers. "Where to?" She asked rose.
Rose slowed her horse as she followed Belladonna. "Uh an inn would be good..." She said softly. "I need a place to stay, eat drink, rest that kind of thing." She said, looking down at her pouch of money realising she barely had a couple of coins. She was just hoping she had enough.
Belladonna frowned. "You could stay with me if you like."
Rose looked up and frowned softly. "Uh well thats very nice of you but I couldn't take advantage of your hospitality like that." She murmured.
Belladonna shook her head stubbornly. "I wont take no for an answer. Your staying with me."
Rose took a deep exasperated breath. "Ok ok I shall stay with you, if you insist. Where do you live may I ask?" She said softly as she nudged her horse forward as she continued to follow her.
Belladonna smiled and led rose to her cottage at the edge of town. She dismounted her horse and walked inside, holding the door open for rose.
Rose smiled softly as she slipped off of her horse, tying him up, before following her inside. "Wow its so lovely." She said softly as she tugged her hood down. "You have a wonderful home." She said sweetly. "Um are your sure I can stay, im not intruding am I?"
Belladonna shook her head. "Not at all. Your always welcome here." She said, looking around at her one room cottage. "I need to make a run to the apothecary.....would you like to come?"
Rose smiled and shook her head. "No thank you, but its kind of you to ask, um where am I allowed to stay?" She asked softly, looking around. Unfortunately it was small but she had insisted. She just hoped she wasn't taking up too much room.
"Wherever you like." Belladonna replied with a friendly smile. She grabbed a basket from beside her bed and put her hood up. "I must be going. Please make yourself at home." She said before walking out.
Rose gulped and nodded. "Thank you again." She said as sat in the small wooden chair, watching the girl leave. She would sleep on the large chair. It was best. She put her satchel on the ground and took out her book. She needed to eat and drink and by the looks of it there was only bread and jam and some cheese, and she needed something more. She had to use magic sometime, otherwise her magic would lash out and get her into trouble again.
Lord Fides, govorner of the town, was deep in his papers when a messenger boy scrambled past. "A dragon! I saw a dragon! They've been following me! I am the only survivor of the destruction of the village to the north!" Lord Fides stood and found the captain of his guard.
"Get everyone who can hold a weapon on the wall. Hold them off while we evacuate the city. The town is already lost. Torch the farmland, slaughter and bury any animals that cannot make the trip, melt down and bury any treasures that cannot be packed, and get these people out of here."
Rose laid down by the tiny fire and relaxed peacefully as she watched the flames dance before her eyes. She felt her fingers tingle and knew she'd have to use her magic sooner. She sighed and sat up, muttering an enchantment before fruit and vegetables appeared before her and a nice chunk of meat. She knew exactly what she'd do. Make a hearty stew. She began cooking.
(( oh I thought you were starting that for someone else.. And plus how would she know she's not been warned or anything ))
((There's a warning going through the entire town.))There came a knock at the door. "Um... anyone in here, we're under attack and ordering a full evacuation."
(( oh you mean like a warning bell got it sorry ))Rose opened the door hearing the bell. It was annoying as she looked at the guy in front of here. "Why what in gods name is going on?" She asked. Why is it she's always getting mixed up in some kind of trouble! "Ok thank you for telling me I'll just pack and leave now." She said closing the door. She sighed and began packing her stuff up as fast as possible. She needed to find Belladonna.
Belladonna was in the apothecary, oblivious to what was happening. Then she heard the bell. Belladonna dashed outside to see what was happening.
Rose needed to get to Belladonna then get to her brother. This was worse than she thought. She grabbed her things and ran out of the house and down to the Apothecary. "Belladonna!" She yelled.
Belladonna had just stepped outside when she heard rose call her name. She ran through the crowd of frantic townspeople and to rose. "Whats going on?"
Rose stopped. "Somethings wrong, people are being evacuated. We have to leave now, get your stuff and go." She said. She took her hand and pulled her through the crowd and got her back to the house. She let go of her and got her horse and hopped on. "Come on."
Belladonna mounted her horse, now feeling a little afraid. She looked around frantically. "There's so many people. Which way?"
Rose pulled her hood up. "Just ride and don't look back." She said. "Follow me." She said before taking off. She took her horse into a gallop and headed for the forest again.
Belladonna followed, trying not to look back when she heard a scream.
((To the forest?))
((To the forest?))
Lord Fides galloped ahead of all of the villagers on his black stallion, leading them down the least treacherous and most well-defended roads. Largely because of his leadership, only three villagers and a few livestock were killed before they made it to another military fort, where the held off the dragons with ballistae. The army of reptilians withdrew, but Fides simply sighed, shaking his head and holding back the tears as he knew that his homeland, the land of his father's grave, was being burned and shredded by the dragons. He couldn't think on that now. His village was a collection of refugees now, and he had to arrange for lodging for everyone with the lord of this land."Okay, everyone. I'm going to try and get all of you room, but remember that we're doubling the population of this fort and that it's unsafe to leave the walls, so it will be cramped, and you should be prepared to move at any time. Captain-" He turned to the captain of his guard, who was always at his side, but found that he was not there. One of the soldiers produced the captain's helmet. Fides recognized his captain's son and in quick steps gripped the arms of the barely nineteen boy. "What happened?"
Through his sobs, the child told him.
While the military men were holding off the dragons with crossbows to give the refugees a head-start, he had deemed that it would be more helpful for them to defend the actual villagers at that point, and he sent the rest of the men to do that. But when the other soldiers got his horse for them, he planted his pike in the ground. "I'm staying here," he had told them. With only one crossbow and his sword, he managed to fell two of the beasts before one of them torched him.
