Scott BonassoAuthor and reader of controversial books
Sociopathic violence, mental illness, addiction, horror
Fucking awesome group idea, Ariel! Thanks for having me!
I can't help but write dark, disturbing, raw books. It's just where my mind goes. Glad to know there's a group on here that appreciates that!
Don't want to spam my own books on here in case it's against the rules. Are there rules for authors posting their own work?
Kimberly ChapmanFavourites I find important...as in controversial books? I tend to love hearing about books that get banned, particularly kids' books, because that generally means they're awesome. My husband and I bought the Captain Underpants set when we were newlyweds because we heard Southern US schools were banning it. Now our 6-year-old is in love with those books. And we make fart jokes with her. Fart jokes are funny.
I tried to read Lady Chatterly's Lover as a teen because I'd heard it was so controversial in its day, but it was dull. I think modernity ruined me.
Lately I'm into discussing gender issues such as stereotypes privilege, the changing nature of gender roles through history, etc. You wouldn't think that'd be controversial, but apparently it's worth rape threats. Not so much to me, but others I know.
I'm on Goodreads as both an author and a reader.
I meant favorite controversial book. sorry. :P
My favorite is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov so far.
My favorite controversial topics are mental illnesses, hallucinogens, corrupt systems, and a variety of different sexualities.
I am a reader, reviewer, and aspiring to be a writer.
Kimberly: I love the children's book Go the Fuck to Sleep lol. I also used to read The Adventures of Captain Underpants when I was in 4th-5th grade <3
Scott: thank you very much. I thought so too. ^_^

Hii, My name is Karina (or Natasha, you can call me either, I respond to both.) I enjoy a lot of topics. My favorite being cannibalism and murder right now. Serial Killers interest me a lot and self mutilation and total power exchange. I'd say BDSM but that's getting up there in popularity with the wrongly labelled 50 Shades of Grey. I do a lot of crazy research because I'm writing a novel about a Cannibal and his victim (who the cannibal keeps alive and cares for by feeding his victim bits of his own body) to keep the meat fresh. So eating people and Stockholm syndrome galore.
I do review books, but I haven't found many with things I actually want to read.
Greetings Ladies and Gents, my name is Michael and I must first thank the person or persons who made this group possible. Now lets get down to brass tacks and tell you why I joined. When I was a young man I had a natural predilection for sleaze, exploitation and deviant human behavior.Transgression became a life long hobby and obviously as one would, I became a connoisseur of all things taboo. Then along came the first edition of Apocalypse Culture (published by AMOK) which led me to where I am right now.
While we live in an age where we can look up akk the fucked up stories and images, I still say Apocalypse Culture is relevant and interesting,
I opened up a Goodreads account for the following reasons:
1)I love books. I really and truly do. Everything about them is far superior to most people.
2)I have a librarything account, but its like an internet ghost-town with hardly any activity.
3)I love seeing people's reading lists, especially when you find one of those little gems which you had no idea of, or different editions.
One topic that stimulates me is Cannibalism.
Now while some may find this topic too pedestrian, follow me back to late 19th Century China. During this time China was going through a countrywide famine and people resorted to cannibalism, nothing new here, and similar cases are found throughout the annals of history. Now here's where things got weird; it was said the hunger had gotten so out of hand that children were sold as cattle. Now I don't mean they just killed them and displayed the prepared meat in the windows...no-no-no-no-nooo that would be all to simple.
You would go into the butcher shop and ask for the flesh of a child. Then the butcher would bring out the children and parade them in the same manner one would witness at a livestock auction. You would point to an ass cheek (one of the more expensive parts of the body from what I gather)or any other part. The child is beaten to tenderize the meat, and his/her throat slit to drain the blood.
Once the process of slaughter would happen, the child is cut up just as a beef cow or hog would be.
And the rest is epicurean cannibalistic history.
And there we have it folks.
When I was a kid, my older brother brought home a copy of "The History of Torture." That was in the 60's. It was creepy, but it was hard not to pick it up and read it! In a couple chapters of The Burn Rose Pirates, I got a bit graphic - Chapter 42, for example, discussed the skull bashing and skull collecting that went on thousands of years ago in what is now Peru. For all intents and purposes, it was organized serial murder. Blog Entry on Ritual Use of SkullsW.D. Currie
Hi, I'm Adrian. I joined this group because I like most controversial topics. Mental Illness, torture and all topics about gender are interesting to me, among others. I have a high tolerance to things that might make most people squeamish, like Michael's story.
Hello, Great group, Finnaly, do they still burn books, apparently so. My LGBT erotica books have been banned in Rome, I wear the badge proudly, therefore I didn’t see an authors page, hope I am not breaking any rules…I am Jane Brooke, a 22 year old lesbian British savage writer of LGBT/LESBIAN/HETERO all genders erotica and I have this year 8 new books from Amazon and of course with my PIC on my page. My work described to me by my readers is banal, URBAN, RAW, Ultra sexual, profane, beautiful and finally bullet in the head MY GENERATION-REAL. I do a yearly jaunt through the underground sex, scene and fetish clubs of Europe, and infuse my work with what I see, as a voyeur in these freedom loving people’s private lives. My work is not for the weak-of-heart, so SEAT BELT REQUIRED, and since I am done whoring myself, a girl uses what she has, BIG SMILE, WTF just dropped an ash from my cigarette into my tequila shot, smoke in my eyes, collateral damage of being a writer, Cheers Jane from London
New from Jane brooke the 1st stunning lesbian hit woman erotica novel (DEATH AT THE SAPPHIC BALL)(Loads of lesbian sex) as she hunts and then takes out three men that killed a lesbian couple. LESBIAN EROTICA...CHeers Jane from LondonDeath at the Sapphic Ball
Hello to the group! *looks around* Kinda quiet in here. Can we change that?My name is SM. I'm a reader and writer of stories, erotica, dark erotica, dark fiction.
I mostly read fiction... I love non-con, kidnap, torture-porn, serial killer porn, stockholm syndrome... bittersweet endings, Mental illness, suicide attempts, gender dysmorphia, etc etc ect. I'll give almost anything a try, though I have a particular fetish for m/m fiction, older man/younger man (teen) stuff. I know. So naughty.
Ummm, what else am I supposed to say? I forgot already. Oh, my point for Goodreads... I like to talk about books. I don't want to get slammed or bashed for liking the books I like - I already know I'm strange and weird, thanks.
Hello. I find controversy mainly in the various conspiracies that go on in this world and how we think they play out as opposed to what they actually are. I ams also an author of many different genres. Check out my author page by clicking my name.
Hi. My name is Robert. The literary appetites expressed within this group are most alluring.I am the author of a novel, The Swami Deheftner, that explores such themes as paranormal spirituality, BDSM (female dominant), psychic powers, esoteric Yoga practices, the secrets of Harry Houdini, and animal intelligence.
It is good to be among friends.
Hi everyone,I'm interested in books on mental illness, addiction, and sociopaths.
My favourite controversial books would probably be:
Less Than Zero by Brett Easton Ellis. A scene in that book stayed with me for days.
Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. This was very disturbing. Horror, sadistic violence & pedophilia. I found the insights into the mind of the pedophile fascinating.
But generally I stick to books that deal with mental illness. I'm usually disappointed by them though.
I want to thank you for this group. Somewhere to discuss books many people don't want to discuss!
What up everyone? My name's Avery, my favorites are pizza, chinese food, fantasy, video games, graphic novels and putting uncomfortable things like everything this group mentions in people's faces and making them think about it. I hope this group is still active...I'm also an author trying to figure myself out. Nice to meet you all.
Welcome, Avery! I joined a couple of week ago too, although this group doesn't seem to be as populous as some of the others on GoodReads. But it's good to see that quirky folks like us aren't alone.I noticed a couple of other groups here for those readers/authors with a sweet tooth for the freaky and the uncanny, but they require permission to join their group. I applied to join, but I never got a response from them. Meh. So here I am.
By the way, one of my favorite genres is stuff from the Decadent Movement (Octave Mirbeau or bust!). Nothing is sexier than decay!
How rude of me! I never formally introduced myself. My name is Christian Vago (says so on the tin can), and I recently published my novel The Rotted Garden, available in two volumes since the damn thing spans just over 850 pages and my publisher insisted on two volumes.I first got in touch with the dark side (cue that crazy 'God warrior' lady from "Trading Spouses") when I was in high school and discovered the Marquis de Sade. Later on I teased myself with Sacher-Masoch's Venus in Furs. Then I moved on to the Decadents, especially Octave Mirbeau with The Torture Garden and Diary of a Chambermaid. I've been living and working in Korea for a while as an English teacher and got first-hand taste of Korean-flavored S&M...although I shouldn't kiss and tell here...yet.
My novel takes place in the autumn of 1848. A young French noblewoman and her fiancé seek to avoid the revolutions in much of Europe (as well as her personal demons) by accepting an invitation from a Russian count who owns an estate outside St. Petersburg. She meets other aristocrats there who, she assumes, are also seeking refuge from the bloody revolution...but before long she notices that these nobles have far nastier reasons for holing themselves up at this count's estate. What started as a journey to find peace and leisure becomes a horrifying experience. Enter a palance of decadent parties beneath which lies dungeons of torture, madness, despair, murder, suicide, and pervesion...each one made into an art form.
Send me a message if you're interested.
Hello everyone! My name is J. Michael Storm and I've just released my first erotic novel, The Taming of Jenesa...
I like all kinds of genres but in erotica, I am into dark taboo, specifically non-consent...
Send me a message if you like, I'll answer any questions put forth to me, or visit my website at: http://j-michael-storm.tumblr.com/
Hoping to get to know a lot of you and your works!

Hello! My name is Joshua Ebert. I'm a writer of poetry and fiction. My favorite books include The Femme's Guide to the Universe by Shar Rednour, which is a guide to life by a lesbian porn star, Wasteland by Francesca Lia Block, which is about incest, Mind Fuck and Quid Pro Quo by Manna Francis, which are M/M erotica books with dubious consent and interrogation/torture.I am interested in a number of controversial things. As far as fiction goes, I really like incest. I think it creates an interesting dynamic when done well, and I like the taboo aspect of it. I also like M/M romance and erotica, mostly because of my fascination with the male anatomy (ha-ha-ha).
I'm excited to see where this group goes!
