So this is probably pretty obvious if I go through your goodreads, but tell me your favorite authors and why.

**Note: It would be awesome if we could get some more members. :D

David Mitchell is probably my favorite author. I hardly ever read a book more than once, but I have read Cloud Atlas, Number9Dream and Ghostwritten multiple times, and each time I've read them I have found something I didn't notice before. You all might want to catch up on Cloud Atlas, as it's been made into a movie. If you do it now, no one will think you jumped on the bandwagon. Also, since Cloud Atlas is a collection of interconnect short stories, I don't see how they can do it justice. It spans from the 1700s to post-apocalyptic time, so... it's pretty much impossible.

Mika Waltari is another of my favorites, although it is nigh on impossible to actually get ahold of one of his books, as a lot of them have been out of print forever. The Egyptian or Sinuhe the Egyptian made me love historical fiction. Also, one of the only authors I will read again and again.

Gary Jennings, another historical fiction genius. Aztec series is great up until the 3rd book, as he died while writing it and everything that has come after is just published by some dingleberries who can barely write using his notes and name. His book called The Journeyer was bad ass... it's about Marco Polo, and while writing it he actually traveled the Silk Road, and accidentally got thrown in jail a time or two.

There are others, but I'll let you all weigh in before I write so much no one wants to read what I have to say.

Richard Holloway | 21 comments George R.R. Martin - His characters are more life like and likeable than any other character in all the books i have read. I have got attached to several of his character but he is not afraid to kill off a main character, which sucks sometimes but you just get attached to another.

Robert Jordan - His Wheel Of Time series is a work of art. The first book is about a sheltered country boy and his friends and by the the time you get to book 6 (aprox) he has become the most powerful man in the world and his friends are his best generals. The character development is great and every book is fresh and leaves me wanting to read the next. Which is quite an accomplishment since the series is around 13 books at over 1000 pages each.

And OF COURSE.. Stephen King - Anybody who can scare the shit out of me through words is talented. Reading IT i literally had trouble sleeping for days. The fear he made me feel for the little kid in The Shining. I have never seen an earlier example of the way our society is going with its reality tv show obsession than with The Running Man. He wrote it in the early 80's before it all but yet it is weird how it could be around the corner.

George R.R. Martin started out writing several episodes of The Twilight Zone and wrote the series Beauty and the Beast, which starred Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman in the late 80's.

Megan | 34 comments I only have one favorite author, Emily Bronte being her. yes, Wuthering heights is my all time favorite book, ever. this has nothing to do with the twilight craze where Wuthering heights is Bellas favorite book. I think it is well written and one of the best love stories there is.

I don't really have favorite authors but more like favorite books. I loved Stephen kings all dark, no stars but dislike some of his other books because I feel he takes forever on details. and I loved haunted by Chuck Palahniuk but hated most of his other books...guess I'm just picky lol.
