Tonight I picked up a signed paperback copy of Warning Signs..... from the hands of the author!!!!
I told Stephen we were reading this as a group read this month and he found it very curious because he said it was very timely and would relate to the recent shootings in Aurora.

Well, Dustin,, after reading all your threads/comments about meeting Stephen White, and your personal connections to the books, and everything else you said, you have talked me into re-reading Warning Signs! So I guess I will join the group read, when I can pick up a copy. And I think I am going to have to read those last seven chapters of Line of Fire, as I want to be caught up on the story before the next one is out.
It kind of freaked me out when I started reading the book because it is so timely. I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep going but Stephen White's writing is compelling so I did. I took it on vacation with me, 5 days at my sister-in-law's farm in Montana. I'm home now and only have a bit more. I'm at the scary, too real part!
I loved this one the second time around, just as I am sure I did the first time! It sure jumped out at me how I am going to miss having new books in this series, but guess I will just periodically go back and re-read some of the others. White skillfully weaves multilayered stories, and complex characters, in a story that seems to indeed be an early "warning sign" of events to follow in our real world. I imagine that even this author was a little startled, maybe even horrified and saddened, by more recent events that come a little too close to his fiction. Even so, I sure am going to miss knowing what is happening in the lives of Alan Gregory, Lauren, and Sam. I really like these people!

I started it but before I got very far I got hit by arthritis in my hands. Hope it goes away soon so that, among other things, I can go back to picking up physical books. Thank goodness for kindle.LOF is still sitting by my bedside waiting for me to get back to it.
I hope you get back to LOF soon. Its the best of the series in my opinion. I don't think you will be disappointed.
I read it too close to the Aurora shootings. It was too much like real life. I would have to say Warning Signs has been my least favorite of the Alan Gregory books.
Sometimes there are a lot more factors in how I like a book than the material that is on the page. For me and Warning Signs, it was the timing of real life events and reading of the book. It was just too much all at the same time. I am a huge fan of Stephen White and you can tell that by my reviews. I am really going to be sad when the last of the series is written.
I can understand that.
For me, I thought Warning Signs was one of the better books in the series. I rank it slightly below the following favorites: Kill Me, The Siege, Dry Ice, Line of Fire, Higher Authority and I happily gave Warning Signs 5 stars.

Well, I finally finished. Of course, I'm about two months behind.I really enjoyed. Nice little tour of Denver thrown in.
