LiteraryMary95 There are truly 3 out of 5 factions you get to experience/learn more about when you read the first book, but you get to know the other 2 factions in Insurgent. Abnegations is the first faction to be introduced because Beatrice was born into that faction. What were your impressions of Abnegation? What did you think of the rules, clothing, and ways of life throughout the first book? Do you think they're a little over the top with how they live their lives? Does it remind you of something in real life?

Jules:) Well...stiff. I'm not crazy on the whole "wear gray and be solem so that you are always preferring others", but I do agree with a lot of their ideals.
Like giving to the poor and preferring others...just wish they weren't so unlively about it.

message 3: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 Yeah, I like how the others call them Stiffs hahaha I can't see myself dressing like that either, but still I would dress modestly in color

message 4: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 I agree with you. I live with a lot of Abnegation ways and tend to find myself in Tris's position all the time, like with the mirror

Ditto. Except, I wear grey a lot (just not by itself. I also wear blacks, blues, and purples).

How do you do your make-up without a mirror? Or what if there's something stuck in your teeth? And I'd assume you can't look in any reflective material either, so that outs water and anything metal.

Well, she only looked in a reflective surface once a year...who knows unless Ms. (Mrs?) Roth enlightens us.
And I only recently started wearing make-up, so not that weird:)

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, you're probably right, but a lot of female authors go by their maiden names, and I wonder if that changes the Mrs. or not (I'll have to look it up).

message 9: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 I also don't wear makeup even though I'm 17

message 10: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 Hahaha yay! I be 18 in June so...

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, I feel so little:( I'm a freshman.

message 12: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 I'm a junior who is supposed to be a senior...

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

While, that'd make you a junior here.
I'm actually a grade ahead, so that makes me extra little:(

Marilyn wrote: "I'm a junior who is supposed to be a senior..."

How'd that happen?

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, so if you weren't a year ahead you'd be a sophmore. Yay, you're not too much older than me! *claps*

message 16: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 Well when I went to private school for kindergarten, there was only 2 enrolled so the school decided for the 2 of us to wait until the next year despite the fact that I already went to preschool

Old? Me? Gosh no, I'm only fifteen years old...."

Well, two years, and when you said you were in eleventh grade I assumed you were three years older than me...I'm going to stop rambling now.

Just a little because I feel like I should be finishing high school agewise, but then realize that I have a whole other year to finish first.

I think you're kind of lucky. You've got the advantage of being older than everyone in your class (which is an advantage, trust me) and you have an extra year to figure out what you want to do with your life after highschool.
I have one less year.

message 24: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 Oh I've known what I wanted to do since elementary school and haven't changed my mind

message 25: by LiteraryMary95 (new)

LiteraryMary95 Kindergarten/Elementary teacher

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I want to be a YA book author or a cartoonist, but I've got no clue what college I want to go to yet. Three years isn't that long...

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Three years left in highschool before college.
And come on, you can't be that bad at drawing!

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Well...I'm not sure what to say to that...you writing's very good, so it makes up for it.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL, you're welcome:)

message 31: by A (new)

A H I like the Abnegation....i like their self-lessness. But I think it would be a really difficult life to live.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I didnt mind Abnegation as much as some of the others, i like how they are commited to help one another but yeah it would be hard for me, since i tend ti stare at myself alot.....
