Azura was laying the the shadows of the meadow. The sun was high in the sky and keeping her trapped in the semi-dark location. She had come here after finishing her hunt. She wanted to tell her new friend, Lucas, what she was, but was worried about what he would say. Dragons, at least her family, had poor reactions and relationships with vampires. It was one of the reasons she had pushed so hard to travel to this camp with her brother. She wanted one last adventure with him before he had to return to complete his training. Before he left on an adventure where she could no longer follow.
Lucas flew down in his dragon form, landing right on Azura's stomach, sitting back on his haunches, and tilting his head to one side as he looked down at her, his big blue eyes curious and concerned. He let out a soft roar, pawing at her stomach gently, a silent question in his eyes.
Azura looked down at Lucas, her eyes glowing a bright white. She reached down to stroke his head. "Hey, Lucas." A sad smile played around her lips. "I bet my brother sent you."
Luckas blinked, sadness washing into his eyes. He crawled up to her neck, snuggling up under her chin, and letting out a soft purr, his big blue eyes looking up at her, wishing he knew what was bothering her.
Azura leaned hear head over, resting it lightly on Lucas' back. "Have you ever wanted to tell somebody something, but were worried about their reaction?" A tear slipped out and trickled down her cheek. "About seven years ago, I made a mistake. It's cost me everything." She took a deep shuddering breath. "I'm going to lose my brother, all because I'm a vampire."
Lucas blinked, peering at her with a worried gaze. He climbed off her, shifting back into his human form until he was laying next to her, his blue eyes showing a hint of surprise, but more importantly, they were clouded with sorrow for her. He looked at her, his gaze unwavering. "What makes you say that?" He asked softly, touching her arm softly with his hand.
"I'm not allowed to go any where near the family home. I'm not supposed to be near anyone in my family." Azura met Lucas' gaze. "According to my parents, our family has a standing pact with a pack of werewolves or something like that. I don't remember all of the history that I learned when I was younger, but basically means that I'm an exile, because I broke the terms of the agreement." A few more tears trickled down her cheeks. A shudder ran through her, as her eyes flashed from white to their normal red, then back to white. She was losing control of herself.
Lucas furrowed his brows, unsettled by her sadness, and he could practically feel the fear radiating off her. He scooted closer, wanting to comfort her. "Hey... hey... just.. calm down... okay?" he murmured, stroking her cheek gently with his thumb, gazing deep into her eyes. "It's okay.... I'm sure your brother will understand... he's a nice guy, I know," he murmured. "You won't lose him... I'll make sure of it, okay?" he murmured, feeling a pang of sorrow for her once more.
Azura shuddered as her sobs broke loose. She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around Lucas. "Thanks, but I have too. I can't let him turn his back on the rest of his training. He needs to go back home, so he can start his Master Dragon train before his next birthday. I have to let him go." It sounded like she was trying to convience herself more than Lucas. Her head was resting on his shoulder, tears soaking into his shirt.
Lucas furrowed his brows feeling a little confused. But he hated seeing her like this, and he simply wanted it to stop. He couldn't help wrapping his own arms around her too, his chin resting atop her head. He didn't know what to say now, unsure himself anymore. He let out a soft sigh. For now, he simply wanted to be there for her, even though he didn't know what to say at that moment. He rubbed her back gently, in an attempt to comfort her.
Azura cried until she couldn't any more. Even after she stopped, she did not let go of Lucas. "Thanks," she mumbled against Lucas' shoulder. It was the first time she had cried about anything in a long time and it was the first time she had told anyone her fears about losing her brother. She leaned back from Lucas and whiped her eyes, the rubbed away the pink trails her tears had left on her cheeks.
Lucas blinked, and nodded slowly, though he didn't pull away from her fully. He looked at her, sighing softly, and kissed both her cheeks under her eyes, as if to wipe away the tears. He looked at her, his gaze warm and welcoming. "No problem," he murmured, smiling softly. He looked at her now, and felt as if he could feel her pain and sadness.
Azura blush slightly when he kissed her. "Did any of my ramblings make sense?" she looked down at the ground, before looking back at Lucas. She was not sure of what all came out while she cried.
Lucas blinked, and nodded slowly. "A little bit. I'm sorry though... I wish I knew what to say..." he murmured, frowning a little and letting out a soft sigh. "But.... I'm glad you told me... and I am happy to listen," he murmured.
"Do you think I'm making the right choice. In my family, you have to be a Master Dragon, in order to eventually be the leader of the family. Irvine needs to go through this training. Everyone one else in our family who could take over after my father, well they aren't exactly the brightest bunch." Azura reached for Lucas' hand. "I want to keep him in my life, but that's not what's best for the family. Or him. He does not deserved to be exiled for standing up for my mistake."
Lucas's eyes clouded with sadness when he heard how torn that felt. It was confusing, and a hard choice. He squeezed her hand gently as he thought for a very long moment, his brows furrowing. "If you let him go, and you think that is the best choice, then it is what you have to do," he murmured softly, though it made him feel bad in saying so. "Maybe you can still keep him in your life even after he leaves.... like... an email or something," he murmured thoughtfully. "But I think you should let him go," he murmured, feeling his heart clench. He felt like a jerk for saying that, but he hoped she wouldn't see him as one.
Azura nodded. "E-mail sounds good. Mom and dad are still stuck in the early 1900's. We need to catch our dragon family up in technology." She wrapped her arms around Lucas and pulled him into another hug. "Thanks for helping me."
Lucas let out a soft sigh, and smiled, hugging her back. "Hey... it's no problem," he murmured. "I'm glad to help," he said, sighing once more, and glad that she felt what seemed a little bit better.
Azura let go. "Okay enough mushy stuff for now." She looked up at the sky. She shook her head, long white hair tossed from side to side. "Is Irvine still with Sarah?" She could feel changes in the air pressure and see an Irvine shaped spot in the air in the distance.
Lucas blinked, a little disappointed to hear that, but rolled away a little, smiling. "Yeah, she's still with him," he said with a small sigh. "Why? is there something wrong?"
Azura shook her head. She grabbed Lucas' hand and stood up pulling him with her. "I don't think so." She watched the clouds grow in the sky. "Unless you don't like to get wet." she remember on time they had done something like this in the training room. They had flooded the whole place and gotten grounded for two months.
Lucas grinned, and nodded quickly, chuckling and standing with her. "All right, well, where do you want to go?" he wondered, tilting his head to one side.
Azura dropped his hand and back out into the open meadow, just as the rain was starting to fall. "I don't go any where, when it rains. I dance in it." she lifted her hand and twirled, further out, not caring of the size of storm her brother and Sarah had created. The drops of water were warm as they trickled down her skin.
Lucas blinked, watching her a moment, tilting his head to one side. He smiled softly, and strode out to her, stopping in front of her. He took her raised hand in his, his other arm wrapping around her waist as he twirled with, her, grinning.
Azura rested her free arm on his waist. She hummed a quiet song, that went with the flowing, rythmnic nature of the storm. She stepped a little closer to Lucas so that she could rest her head on his shoulder. "Is it wrong to wish, we could stay like this forever?"
Lucas closed his eyes as she hummed, smiling softly, enjoying the tune. He blinked, a little surprised when she stepped closer, but he didn't pull away, and indlstead, looked down at her with a warm gaze. He thought about her question a long moment. He chuckled softly. "Of course not," he murmured, pulling her a little closer as they continued to dance. He felt a small flutter in his chest, and wondered briefly was it was.
Azura breathed a sigh of relief at his answer, then started humming again. Everything right was so soothing. From the moment she met Lucas, she felt calm in his presence. Now dancing in the rain with him, close enough to hear his heart beating in time with hers, she felt more relaxed and centered than she had in montths. To have his support, helped strengthen her resolve so send her brother back to their home to complete his training alone. ((in my head these are the songs she is singing... Lothorien, May It Be, and Only Time all by Enya.))
((Those are really good songs :D))Lucas closed his eyes once more, and smiled softly, letting his mind wander as she began to hum once more. Feeling the warm drops of rain trickle down his arms, the feel of her heart beating in her chest as well as his own, strangely in sync with one another, the calm feeling that flowed through him as they danced in the rain... it was somewhat overwhelming, and he felt butterflies in his stomach, but it was also a silent relief, knowing she would be okay if her brother left, glad that he was able to comfort her through such a tough decision. He felt warmth flood through him at that thought, and he breathed a soft sigh, losing himself in the moment. There were no more words needed to be spoken.
((I love Enya's music. I can play a few of the piano, I wish I could play all of them.))The rain slowed to a drizzle and then slowly stopped. A light breeze lew through the meadow, carrying the clouds away. Azura did not move way from Lucas. "Forever," she whispered, "let's stay like this till the end of forever."
((Mmm I think I'm falling in love with that music as well :) ))Lucas tilted his head down to look at her, and felt a pang of sorrow. He drew in a deep breath, and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "I wish we could," he murmured, though he knew it wasn't possible. After a long moment, he pulled away from her a little, sighing softly. "But it simply isn't possible," he murmured sadly.
Azura sighed and looked into Lucas' eyes. "I guess that you are right." She looked toward their joined hands. "Maybe not like this, but friends forever." Her eyes were hopeful, she looked back to him.
Lucas smiled softly, and nodded. "Yes... of course," he murmured, gazing deep into her own eyes, and feeling a spark of affection for her. Yes, they would be friends forever, no doubt about that. And maybe... maybe something a little more.... though Lucas wasn't sure about that.
"So," Azura said. "I like dancing in the rain, but staying wet, not so much." Her eyes sparked mischievously. "I can show how I dry off quickly. If you trust me."
Lucas blinked, and grinned, nodding. "I would love to see that," he chuckled, eyes flashing with curiosity. "I trust you," he said, nodding once more.
"Great," Azura breathed. "It's a good thing that you are a dragon, or this might freak you out a little." She moved her hand that was resting on his waist out to the side. A red flame sparked to life in her hand. She smiled as she watched the fire. Then it seemed to melt like ice, running through her fingers and dropping to the ground. The flames circled their feet, then seemed to attack them. Azura looked at Lucas as she felt the flames coating her body like a glove. "To the touch, it is cooler than an actual fire, but still hot enough to dry clothing, because it is so close and concentrated."
Lucas blinked, and smiled, chuckling softly. "Wow... that's amazing," he told her, looking at the flames in awe. "A good way to dry off too," he chuckled, grinning at her with an amused look.
"Yes," Azura smirked and the flames rushed up their bodies, covering them completely. "It is also good for scaring people." She was more used to the flames, so she allowed them to dance over her. The flames played in her hair and created tattoo like designs on her skin.
Lucas smiled, and.watched the flames with a mixture of awe and amusement. "I would think so," he murmured, gazing down at Azura. She felt like some mysterious yet amazing person, and he wished he knew more about her. But then again, he liked a mystery.
Using her fire always made her feel playful, especially, when she did not monitor the flames to closely. Right now, with them dancing unchecked across her skin, she could barely stop herself from doing something out of character. Azura leaned forward and kissed Lucas on the nose. Then she dropped his hand, turned and dashed away. When she had made it about 15 feet she turned into her dragon and ran in a circle around, Lucas. The flames were still shimmering across her skin.
Lucas blinked in slight surprise, watching as she ran off, then turned, running back at him. He smiled as he watched her run around him, and chuckled softly, but also watched in awe. She looked so... well to put it quite simply, beautiful with the fire running across her skin. He watched, feeling amazed and pleased, wishing he had the power she had to do the same. He felt his skin ripple as if he was about to change, but he didn't. He simply watched.
Azura came closer and pointed to Lucas and then the air. She wanted him to fly and see what she was doing from the air. She turned away and started breathing fire across the meadow, using her power to change the color.
Lucas blinked, and smiled, nodding as he shifted, flying up high into the air. After a moment, he floated there, looking down at the meadow curiously, his blue eyes bright with excitement.
Azura darted across the field, flashing different colors, as she changed the hue of her fire. She created a blue dragon that was looking over its shoulder at a gold dragon that was breathing fire. She then moved back to the blue dragon and lay down curled up, creating the eye of her picture.
Lucas looked down in awe, his eyes widening as he gazed at the picture. It was so amazing, so beautifully crafted, and well done... thee firey effects made it all the more better as he gaze down at it, taking in the picture as a whole, and smiling brightly. He sighed softly, simply staring at the picture.
After a little while, the flames turned red and scorched the ground, burning into the meadow, a black version of Azura's fire drawing. The flames danced along her skin a moment longer, before they too went out. She rolled over onto her back and looked up at Lucas high above.
Lucas smiled, roaring softly as he flew back down to her, landing on her stomach, and crawling up to her neck, sitting down on his haunches and looking at her. He grinned, his eyes wide, and bright with a mixture of amusement and amazement.
Azura lifted her head, so that Lucas slid down to her middle. She picked up him up then rolled over. She lowered her head for him to climb on top.
