V for Vendetta, Inception, The Adjustent Bureau (to an extent), Chronicle (for the cleverness of filming rather than the storyline), I, robot, loads more, I love films, they are just another way of telling a story :~)
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.I don't care if it's not at all steeped in any sort of truth to the legend. If you assume that going in, it was one to remember from...what, 1991? most of my favorite movies seem to have production dates clustered around 1991-1997. Call me old I guess.
Gettsyburg is also a favorite of mine. I can't keep a dry eye during Pickett's charge.
...and since I'm on that subject, if any of you can keep a dry eye all the way to the end of the movie Deep Impact, you're either a Vulcan from Star Trek, or you're simply made of stone. Nobody believes me. Then they watch it. My wife actually got mad at me for not "preparing" her for it, even though I swear I warned her :p
Haven't seen District 13 yet but its on my list. My favorites are Grave Encounters, Insidious, Paranormal 1, 2 and 3 (haven't seen 4 yet), The Ring, Shawshank Redemption, Season of the Witch...wow I have a lot of favorites lol. I'll stop here even though there are so many more.
Any Vincent Price movie. I adored him growing up. I also love the Thin Man series. William Powell and Myrna Loy were just so funny in their roles.
I think books and movies complete each other, halves of a whole. I agree with Victoria on Chronicle and Inception! Smart action movies are my favorite--ex: Looper. Joseph-Gordon Levitt is FANTASTIC!!
I have a Flickr account where I review movies, which is a fun way to incorporate writing into things.

Top five: The Fog, Gone with the Wind, Withnail and I, American Beauty and The Haunting (1963). All awesome, all shaped me.
