Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) If you ever got the chance to whisper ideas into Steven Moffat's brain and influence his decisions in making Doctor Who episodes, what sort of stories and ideas would you tell him?

Me, I just had this brilliant idea! The Doctor should totally visit Flatland! For those that don't know about Flatland, voila: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWyTxC... I don't know if it could work or not, but Flatland is such a classic science concept, and I think the Doctor would have such fun being 2-D.

Well there was that one episode "Fear Her" where the doctor was a crayon drawing. :)

Why does Dr. Quantum look like Robert Englund? (Freddie "Nightmare on Elm Streets" and Willie from original "V" series)

I'd rather actually "write" the stories than whisper them into Moffat's ear.

I seriously need to dig up my "Degeneration" story I wrote some years ago. I think I have it on 3.5" floppy (yes it's that old) somewhere, not sure where all my discs actually are. I also have some of the original draft notes and a print out on paper. I'm not sure which are the most complete versions.

There should be an episode where the adipose come back. They're entertaining but they don't have to be the focal point. Y'know, they could be minions to a...a humoungous adipose thats HUGE and trying to take over Earth and they eat/consume people. Okay, not very suspensful but I enjoy the idea!

CaptKirk42 Classic Whovian (klandersen) | 1146 comments Mod
Yes the Adipose need to be seen again. Maybe just as a cameo the doctor is running somewhere maybe away from the main baddie of the episode and off on a side street (or corridor) a pack of them are running and one of them stops and waves. The Doctor gets one of those confused looks on his face.

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments I think this idea would be really cool!

"While traveling, the TARDIS lands at the scene of a party. A masquerade, in fact, in the year 5 trillion. But as the Doctor discovers, its not an ordinary masquerade. This galactic get-together features aliens from all over the galaxy, and they are using forbidden technology to steal human's identities, to suck them away and use them as masks, because what better mask to hide behind than that of an entirely different race? The Doctor must race against time to save the humans of the Earth."

No no not Flatland! I mean good idea and all but i can't STAND that movie! "Me me me me me" SO ANNOYING! To me at least...

ϻαđίѕσи ~ I'm gonna be free, and I'm gonna be fine, but maybe not tonight If i wrote a DW i would bring back the Flood from the Waters of Mars. I don't know how but if Steven Moffat wants children freaking out behind the couch that's how you do it. Although that epi is really specail so maybe i wouldn't....idk

message 10: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Oy, I wasn't thinking of the movie "Flatland," (which I've never even watched) I was thinking of the book and the classic science concept of a 2-D world, where the inhabitants see only in 1-D. Since Doctor Who is very scienc-y, I would love to see them do some really wibbly-wobbly stuff! :D

message 11: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments That would be pretty neat!

message 12: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments never heard of that movie though...

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. A long time ago we had to watch Flatland the movie because the teacher thought we didn't understand the concept (which we did) and it was really annoying. Each dimension had different "thoughts" which they put into a phrase and sang. I.E. 1st dimension was "me-me-me-me-me-me" Because it was a dot and had no dimension therfore it only knew itself. That type of thing. I swear, I got nightmares.

message 14: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments That sounds like one annoying teacher! She underestimated you! That's horrible!!!! How old were you?? How old did she think you were?!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

She treated us like we were in Second Grade. But don't eve nget me started on LA.

The books on our reading list I've already read about three years ago. I'm in the Gifted LA class too, so that's saying something. She totally underestimates me and the rest of the class. We were given a worksheet that I did and still have from Fourth Grade. Also, some- no MOST of the worksheets, assignments, and lessons we do are the same as the regular LA class's. I'm just thinking, please challenge us! I've already done this millions of times so if you could please just teach us stuff that we are supposed to be learning, that would be great!

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest!

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 1085 comments While we're complaining about gifted programs... I was never tested and to this day I don't know why! I don't mean to sound like I'm bragging, but there is really only one person in my grade who I would consider smarter or more intelligent than myself. Almost all my friends are in gifted and they get to do fun things and not waste their time in literature classes! I've always been so embarrassed that I had to waste my time and they didn't because for some arbitrary reason they got tested and I didn't. Someone told me it was because you had to ask to be tested. But that's not true; my brother was in it and he never asked to be tested. Ugh! Sometimes my school system makes me so mad! Now I can't even get my schedule changed and school starts on Wednesday!

message 17: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments Now I don't want to seem like I'm bragging, and please know that I'm not, but...hearing you guys makes me really glad I'm home-scooled.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL! Yeah, the Gifted programs and the LA programs in general are really, really bad. I don't get it. All of them just underestimate the students. I don't get why the teachers don't get that either. It seems obvious to me...

message 19: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Janeen, you're homeschooled? *choirs start singing* SISTA, SO AM I! :D And you're right - hearing all your stories makes me extremely glad that I'm homeschooled. I wouldn't call myself extremely gifted, but I'm not dumb, and I would be bored in school. That, or I would be made dumb. The schools where I live don't exactly encourage thinking. Plus, they don't have a Latin program.

message 20: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments *angle music*

SOUL SISTER! Wish we could get together.

*grasps for*

"That, or I would be made dumb."

LOL.

Yeah, I probably would too. Or I'd go all rebellious. Normally I'm not anything like that, but just hearing about schools make me think, "If I were here, I'd..."
I wouldn't be bothered by peer pressure, about boyfriends or any of that rubbish. I'll get a boyfriend when I darn well please, thank you, and I WILL use the name GOD! *more angle music, rightly*
I've heard that you're not allowed to say the name of God because people of all religions are going to be there.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Testify, Sista!

(That just seemed appropriate since you're in that, 'No you didn't!' attitude!)

message 22: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) You're right on, Janeen! The boyfriend silliness is just plain stupid where I live. The girls and the boys aren't looking for a lasting relationship - they're just playing a game, and a very silly game at that.

I've been to public school when I was younger, and it was awful. I was turning into a brat, my brother was being labeled as Attention Deficit Disorder, and all the teachers wanted my brother to be put on drugs. So my mom basically them to go to hell, and she pulled us out and homeschooled us. That's why I am forever grateful to her.

message 23: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments A ridiculous game, definitely! My friend got "asked out" when she was only twelve! That's insane.

THE TEACHERS WANTED YOUR BROTHER TO GO ON DRUGS? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!

message 24: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) I am. They proclaimed that he had Attention Deficit Disorder, and they told my parents that my brother should be put on ritalin. One of those teachers even said that my brother reminded me of her "soon-to-be ex-husband"! The nerve of her! I'm thankful to be homeschooled.

message 25: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments Wow!! No kidding.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

The nerve! Seriously, you could probably sue her minorly for that! I'm not kidding, my dad's a lawyer. Emotional distress...

message 27: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments Your dad is a lawyer? o_0
What's it like having a lawyer for a father??

message 28: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Nah, suing's not worth it. The best way to defeat her was to get smarter than if we would've if we stayed in the public school. So far it has been a success!

I also second the question as to what it's like being a lawyer's daughter.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Eh, not so much different. Except when guys at school begin to talk to me and I reply casually: Y'know....my Dad's a lawyer... Then they back off rather quickly....

message 30: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) *snicker* That should do the trick!

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

You can get rid of guys so easily that way!

Yeah, I don't know, maybe they're scared they'll get sued for harrasment...? IDK, it's pretty funny though!

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, guys. OFF TOPIC ALREADY!!

message 36: by Marlene (last edited Aug 19, 2012 10:06PM) (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Right! ANYWAY...

I also would love an episode to feature Emily Bronte. She was such a fascinating, moody and tragic person in real life, and I think she would make a great Doctor Who historical character. Plus at her deathbed, she refused all medical treatment, saying she would have "no poisoning doctor" near her. Yo guys, what if she was referring to the Doctor! What if he did something that upset her (for some reason)? Then it would make a lovely heartbreaking episode! *rubs hands in glee*

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Yrah? Never mind! You probably meant yeah...

Eris, that would be AWESOME! I agree. Another cool historical figure would be Albert Einstein. He seems really... I don't know...quirky! Just like the Doctor!

message 39: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments YEAH!!!!

....Who is Emily Bronte??

message 40: by Marlene (last edited Aug 22, 2012 04:16PM) (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) She wrote Wuthering Heights and was an amazing poet. She liked to take long walks in the moors, she was of a mecurial temperament, and was very intelligent. Her sisters were Charlotte and Anne Bronte, and all three sisters died before the age of 40.

message 41: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments Oh no! :(
That's awful.

message 42: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) It was. :( All the sisters probably died because they lived in a vicarage next to a graveyard (their father was a vicar before he died), and the drain-off from the bodies contanimated their water supply. They were all so brilliant! And Charlotte had just gotten married and she was having a baby.

message 43: by Janeen-san (new)

Janeen-san (misswannareadalot) | 1507 comments GGAAAAH! That's even more horrible! Poor orphan baby :(

message 44: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Not even orphaned. The baby died with Charlotte. :( :( :(

message 50: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Don't exterminate me, please don't exterminate me! Here I'll give you something nice - here's a tweet from Steven Moffat:

"So. The three tease words for the next run of Sherlock ... Rat. Wedding. Bow."

I'M SO EXCITED! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAL!
