Lorraine Can't decide!

Joann(san diego shutterbug) I was kinda sad to see it end like it did.i honestly thought with her husband the way he was & how much they clicked when they went back for their friend who passed that they would get back together.true love like that is a rare thing, two people who love each other they way did should be together

Rachael I loved the ending. It wasn't predictable at all. It suprised me and I love books where the ending shocks me. I thought it would be differend, but I loved the ending.

Joann(san diego shutterbug) It definatly was shocking. It wasn't as predictable as his other books has been.definatly one of best books.

QUEEN BAP SOMETIMES IN LIFE YOU HAVE TO MAKE CHOICES YOU DO NOT WANT TO

Aisha Oaktree i both loved it and hated it. had she made different decisions the ending would have been different. But as her mom said all decisions have consequences, too bad she never had to pay them.

Michael I thought the ending was surprising, though most say that it was predictable.

QUEEN BAP I WAS A LITTE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ENDING . BUT AS I STATED SOME PEOPLE DO THINGS THEY DON'T WANT 2 DO

Aurora hasan its not fair!! they should be together!! =(

Cassie Ummm yea I didn't like it. It, to me, was predictible and I knew what was going to happen.

Karen Although I like happy endings, this one was not disappointing. I was choked up and tears were rolling down my face.

Cassandra Caves I feel like that ending was perfect... i mean ofcourse i wanted her and dawson to end up together but that was just too cliche. I do agree that I predicted the ending as soon as the car accident happened though. I am not disappointed at all.

message 13: by Nat (new) - added it

Nat I knew how it was going to end way before the ending came so I guess I'm going to say that I wasn't dissapointed

Carla I was very dissapointed in the ending of this book. I was sure they were going to end up together. My favorite character died.

Vincent Gabriel Good. i like tragic endings :)

message 16: by Dawn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dawn Osborne I agree with Cassandra. I would of loved to have her get back with Dawson, but that would of totally changed the name of the book and where the story was going. I was sad that Dawson had to die, but I do like the ending. it was very fitting and went with the story line just perfect. I am actually just finishing up Krisin Hanna's "Home Again" and it has some similarities about the story line.

Charlotte Davis It was as plain as the nose on your face where the ending was headed and yes I wanted them to get back together again as well...It takes a good writer to make me cry actual tears so I guess I would have to give 5 stars for the writing and 4 for the actual story...A little too predictable for me but that's just me...

Lauren Gill The ending to this book was wayyyyyy to predictable for me. I enjoyed the story line and reading through the book but by the last chapter, I could of guessed exactly how the ending was going to play out.

message 19: by Karen (new) - added it

Karen very predictable ending.

Emily I'm always disappointed when a main character dies at the end of a book.

Robbyc I was disappointed, because I knew as soon as the bar fight it was gonna happen.

Ainur disappointed.

Aditya I loved it

Elise I wasn't disappointed at all, I think it would have been too obvious if they had gotten back together. The ending made the book, but that's just my opinion.

Jools From the start i was thinking okay which one is going to die!!!!
Once Dawson was killed you could see what was going to come next.

I'm glad they did not end up together. Somehow them ending up living a happy ever after would not have sat well with me.

message 26: by Lacy (new) - rated it 2 stars

Lacy Thomas I liked the book itself, but was disappointed in that I have come to expect so much more from Nicholas Sparks. That was definitely my LEAST favorite of his.

Paula I did not like the ending. I was ambivalent about wanting to see them together and wanting her to work out her marriage. I guess seeing them together would have been too predictable. I would have liked him to live and go on with his life though and have some other connection to her in the future. I guess he does have some connection i.e. his death saved her son, but it was so sad that after all he went through he died in the end.

message 28: by Dawn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dawn I think predictably I would have liked to have seen them together. However, as others have written, life is not always fair and the fact that she chose to work on her marriage is good. I think it is terribly sad that Dawson died but in the end he gave her the greatest gift anyone could have given her...the life of her child. I wasn't as disappointed as I expected to be knowing this.

Cei I'm really not into reading adult love stories because I can't relate with the characters but I was moved when I started the first chapter and found that this one is pretty interesting. I was finding time reading this after my review class and when I was nearing the end, I can't help myself but to cry.lol. Maybe it was the first story I've read with that kind of ending so the emotions are new to me :) So I end up crying and asking my friend "Why must it happen to him?" Her expression was like "If I only knew you would be like this, I could have altered the ending" :P

(excuse me, I'm not that good in english :])

message 30: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Minton I was so disappointed in the best of me. It was mediocre at best and
was so predictable and at times boring. .I felt like I was reading new moon again!! I loved Dawson but I wanted to punch Amanda for heing such a baby. All she did was whine...give me a break. I'm giving Sparks one more try but if this next book is as baf as this one...ill just stick with Nora Roberts.

message 31: by April (new) - rated it 1 star

April I know not every story has a happy ending in real life so I shouldn't expect them to in fiction either, but personally reading is my leisure activity to escape from the grind of 'real life' and so I don't care for books that end like that. I feel like I wasted my time because I'm not at all satisfied or relaxed when I turn the last page. I'm just glad I got it from the library and didn't pay for it, I would have been even more disappointed if I had ;) I just don't think Nicholas Sparks is for me - I gather this is pretty typical for him.

message 32: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Minton April try Nora Robert she's really good and her charaters make it to the last page. If you haven't read the blue dahlia I think you would like it. You can get it at your local library.

Kevin McArthur I am a die hard fan of Nicholas Sparks and have been for several years. I've never been disappointed in one of his books until reading The Best of Me. Definitely not his best work. I think it may not have been ready for release and was rushed.
Will I continue to read his work? Absolutely.

Klara Monika It was a shock.

Denise I thought that the ending was a bit bittersweet for me, because I honestly thought that they would rekindle their love. But the bravery that Dawson put through to save a life, was absolutely incredible. But it clicked when I read the end and he gave her son his heart, which was the best of him.. I thought it was absolutely incredible.

Brianna I Loved the ending! It was sad but so sweet what he did. I cried...<3

Kanika the ending was you "nicholas sparks style", i mean he ends every book of his almost like "not happy after" so it was good ending.

Mistery I was very sad (:, O) when I read that Dawson had died, but I thought the end touching. I wish I could go back again and feel all the emotion I felt when I read the end. I criede a lot.

AngelinaT I was shocked and so sad!

Corinthia Harvell I too loved and hated the book. I'm not an avocate of adultry, but I was rooting for Dawson and Amanda. I cried too and had already figured out before it was revealed that Dawnson had died and his heart was the donor heart used for Jared.

Mandarie I was not disapponited but i was really surprised. I anticipated that they would get back together in the end and do the Happily Ever After scene but it was not to be. I cried after this one for sure. What a great book! Love Nicholas Sparks

JainL I was really not expecting the ending to be like it was . I thought it would be happier but it wasn't for me.

Joana Adiao i hope nicholas alter the movie ending :)

Corinthia Harvell She's my favorite author, I have almost all of her books.

message 45: by Tom (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tom Cruz The most unpredictable part to the ending was the fact that the accident resulted in her son's injury rather than her husband's. After that, yes it was pretty predictable, but Sparks just ties it up so eloquently with his writing. Even though you know what's coming, you just want to keep reading because his words translate the emotion of the story so well.

But I loved the ending paragraph. It really brings Dawson back to life when Amanda says 'I love you' to her son, because she was also talking to Dawson as his heart kept beating in Jared.

message 46: by Deb (new) - rated it 5 stars

Deb Predictable...

Mariana I didn't like the book, but I gotta say the ending got me

Antionette Having lived my life thus far(40 years) and seeing and experiencing what I have I realize that you really have to sleep in the bed you made...This story it was bittersweet...he lived his life loving only her...there was no other way but death...smh. No other way...

Lacey Ericson I loved the ending!

message 50: by M (new)

M Well, I was almost sure that Amanda and Dawson would end up together...So, yes, I was really disapointed with the fact that they didn't and that Amanda continued living the life that didn't make her totally happy. Although it was kind of a nice and beautiful explanation for the title of the book ("The best of me" because he actually gave her the best of him).
