Does anyone else think the darkhunters series by Ms. Kenyon isn't what it used to be? I have completely stopped reading the series. There are too many pantheons to keep up with and the graphic torture scenes are just too much. I think if she has too much on her plate at the moment (movie and television deals) she should stop writing the series for awhile. It just doesn't have the "punch" it used to.

they have gone down-hill since archeron for me - I barely finished up Retribution...and have no desire to even read the latest one...I wish she would go back to the original greek pantheon and forget the NA stories, and could care less about the Nick books...she also left me hanging on her BAD series which is looks like she isn't going to continue, ditto with her Knights of Darkness series under her kinley mcgregor name
I totally agree. The last one I read was Acheron and that was only because I was curious about the character's backstory, since it had been hyped up since the beginning of the series (And was totally disappointed, by the way. The best "tortured past" story she ever did was Zarek's and every one she's done after that one has paled in comparison). I feel like there's just too many characters, too many pantheons, too many creatures. It's all just become bloated and unfocused. And don't even get me started on how awful the Dream Hunters series is...
acheron was the first book i read in this series. it was very hard for me to keep reading as he was tortured over and over again. the second half of the book was just ok with me. i loved acheron, didn't care much about tory. the first and the second half of the book didn't even seem to be written by the same person.
I think she ends up having a crush on her own character so she ended up putting him in a pedestal. I love the first part of Acheron but the second book was just ok. Ash is one of my all time favorite characters but with the second part of Acheron, there are scenes, whose only purpose seems to showcase how good and saintly Ash is. I think Tory is boring compared to other heroine, I kinda expected Ash's partner to be more kickass.
I totally agree with everyone's comments. THANK YOU for expressing what I've been complaining about to fellow friends of mine that also have read the Dark Hunter series. I feel abandoned by Kenyon. I do not like the direction of the stories after Acheron's story. I do not care about these recent characters and extra pantheons she's introduced when there are others like Savitar and Jared that I have been waiting on to read their stories.
I no longer buy her books because I'm just not interested and the writing is mediocore.
Also, I didn't think Acheron's story was all that great. IMO, she dresses him up to be this big bad ass God and then when the time comes to kick ass, he's lackluster. Let Acheron kick ass. I finally found a series that has a bad ass character and the author lets him be bad ass and boy, does he kick ass (Jericho Barrons, Moning's "Fever" series).
I must say her last 'time u time was good but not as good as her first few ones...too many pantheons are confusing me....
Anita, ah yes! the fever series :) loved it. jericho was the shit, no doubt about it. i pined away after i finished the series and didn't like the next few books i read because they couldn't compare.
oh please don't, I hope she will not stop writing there are 3 arc left on the series and I love the DH series, yes the Pantheons keep on expanding but I just love them..'Time untime' was not SK's best book...but I hope next year's book Styxx will be EPIC!EPIC!!!if you are new to the Dark hunter series its best advice to start books before Acheron...Because Ash's book is too much for the heart of a new reader.:)
I hope she won't stop writing about DH...there a few more characterss stories that we need to read like Savitar, Urian ( he needs to be loved and love again) Sasha, and the guy who is a slave to Stryker's wife ...you know that horrible woman... what was her name again??? tsk-tsk...forgot again

It only gives you more reasons to understand the characters of the book, you also have to remember that not everyone is going to have the same problems!

I never could get into this series. It was hit or miss for me. I think I only read like 5 books in the series Including Acheron's book (which I loved) but out of these 5 I read, I only liked 3. And when I saw how many books were actually in this series, add to that it didn't really grab me, I decided not to continue on with it.Plus there seems to be no middle ground with this series. People either love it or hate it.

I believe it is either Jared or Jaden one of the two. I will say this I became a fan of the series but it is not the same as before. Acheron's book or at least the first part was great a bit repetitious but overall okay the second part was awful we had an Ash that was completely out of character. Not to mention his HEA is one boring annoying character. I expected someone completely badass and powerful not someone his mother hand picked for him.
The last few books have not done anything to further the overall storyline. We are getting side stories that I really do not care much for and babies after babies after babies enough with them.
I want to eventually read all of the Arcs within my lifetime. I am hoping Styxx will get everything back on track and I am hoping we get an Artemis book. Sorry but the Dream hunters are not that great move on please.
I really enjoy and think highly of Ms. Kenyon as an author she is really great and is very considerate of her readers compared to other authors that I shall not mention but we need the series to move on to other characters and to the overall story line.
What I love about this series are their moving emotions that you could relate to,Its not only the romance and the extra spice we crave on a book..the meaning it throws about Life and how we deal with it through tough times and still able to move on is what I saw hidden between the lines of each story, That is why I'll always Love the Dark Hunter series because of the "inspirations to continue life"that gives you:)*crossing my fingers on "Styxx" book...let it be EPIC...
The series is very long, maybe it will take 10 years more and I hope I could get through the last book, please Lord I want to read it all hahaha:)
I gave up after Retribution - she still had so many ppl in the original group to write about that I didn't think she needed to add in the Native American element - and it was just horrible - I haven't picked up one of her books since
Retribution wasn't my favorite, but Time Untime was a lot easier to follow. My problem is that if she's following the 3 arc plot - Acheron, Jared, Unknown...and we get one book a year. It'll be...18 years before the storyline resolves? Then there are the Dream Hunter books that focus more on Noir and Azura and *that* fight. And in the middle of this, we have the CON books that are real but not real and how they're all going to integrate together?
I still read the books (mostly because Nick is my favorite character) but I'm more concerned that she'll stop writing before we get closure or answers.
