Have You Read?
Second on my tbr pile. Since school for teachers has resumed (students start next Wednesday), my reading time is reduced. I'll get to it soon. Definitely before the end of August.
Has the next person read:
The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, Book 1) by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, Book 1) by Suzanne Collins
Nope, but I hope to get to James Patterson some day. I'll probably start with the first Alex Cross book.

Yes, HR! Creeped me out and made for great discussion at our book club. Also, it's short.Have you read The Enchantment Emporium by Tanya Huff?
Nope, couldn't get past the schlocky movie to want to read the book.
Have you read A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, Book 1) by Deborah Harkness
Have you read A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, Book 1) by Deborah Harkness
(@ Kathleen : The movie certainly didn't do the book justice. I found The Time Traveler's Wife to be a great read, though maybe too long at times.)Haven't read it.
Have you read Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
?
Yes, Tess is one of my all time favorite classics. Read it over 40 years ago as an undergraduate in college. I'll keep your comments in mind Someoneyouknow.
Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, Book 1) by Orson Scott Card

?"HNR that or Ender's Game but hope to get to both before the year is out.
LOVED A Discovery of Witches and I'm not that much into this Vampire love genre but I just downloaded the second book.
HYR
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
Yes, I have, but I can't say I enjoyed it. Most of the characters annoyed me and I feel that it's not really a book about all-consuming love but about hatred and its consequences.HYR Atonement by Ian McEwan
?
I love the movie so I then read the book. I LOVED Rebecca!HYR The World Above: A Retelling of "Jack and the Beanstalk" by Cameron Dokey
?
I agree, "Rebecca" is amaazing, as well as other novels by Daphne du Maurier. She's a great writer!Haven't read it.
HYR The Collector by John Fowles
?
Yes, "The Collector" is a very good book and I also recommend the movie based on it, the acting is really top-notch.I've read the abridged version of it when I was a kid.
HYR A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
?
No, I didn't care for The Kite Runner, so I have given A Thousand Splendid Sunsa pass. HNR.HYR Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace ... One School at a Time and/ or Three Cups of Deceit: How Greg Mortenson, Humanitarian Hero, Lost His Way?.
Read it and really creeped by it.HYR Snow Flower and the Secret Fan By Lisa See? Did it make you cry if you did?
I read Three Cups of Tea and bought copies for some of my reading pals but now I'm scared to read the Three cups of Deceit.
HNR; is it like The Joy Luck Club?Rebekah, I read Three Cups of Deceit: How Greg Mortenson, Humanitarian Hero, Lost His Way in one day. Krakauer wrote it because he felt duped by Mortenson, formerly his friend and fellow mountain climber. Krakauer is a very good writer. Why scared?
HYR Gone With the Wind?
Loved Gone with the Wind!I'm scared it will make a hero of mine fall and there just doesn't see to be enough heros lately. :(
Snow flower is similar in that it is about the Chinese culture of women but this is based in China in the narrative of a woman who endured footbinding as a sign of beauty.
HYR The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde?
HNR, but hope to start the Fever series soon.
HYR Devil's Bride (Cynster, Book 1) by Stephanie Laurens
HYR Devil's Bride (Cynster, Book 1) by Stephanie Laurens
I haven't read it. It's one of those books that I am not planning to buy, but I'd like to read it if someone borrowed me a copy.HYR Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld
?
I have not read this book. Never heard of this author, will have to try and read it.HYR The Marriage Bed by Constance Beresford-Howe
