Travis (travishiltz) Uhura in the Abrams movie.

Everybody and everything in the Abrams movie.

Much as I have a huge list of what's wrong with that movie, I couldn't fault the casting...until Uhura.
She does nothing, except get mooned over by the men in the cast and while we are told she is the 'best of the best', she doesn't do anything.
Plus, Nichelle Nicholas is such a babe, anyone else was going to come up short in comparison.

theⓋeganⒶrchist (theveganarchist) i thought of another character, balok (clint howard). i didn't have too much of a problem with him until he said, "but first, the tranya". he might as well have said, "but first, oogoo!" (if you're familiar with gilbert gottfried, you know what i'm talking about)

Aside from the bad dubbing, I liked Balok.
I always wondered what happened to him and that Starfleet guy that went with him?

Leland (lelandhw) | 32 comments I used to hate him. But I've come to like the adult Wil Wheaton so much that I just can't hate Wesley anymore.

message 13: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) Leslie wrote: "I used to hate him. But I've come to like the adult Wil Wheaton so much that I just can't hate Wesley anymore."

I think my problem with Wesley was that the writers never seemed to know what to do with him.
Seems like every Trek series has one character like that.

message 14: by Sinda (new)

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments I've always liked Wesley. Although yeah, they never really knew what to do with him. However, they did give him some good moments.

Lwaxana Troi is unbearable. I still have to skip those episodes.

message 16: by Sinda (new)

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments I just watched Deep Space Nine season One episode 16, "The Forsaken". I beg to differ. I find Lwaxana to be a great character.

I don't have a least favourite character. I just support unliked characters in this topic.

message 17: by Linda (new)

Linda Wrage | 2 comments I have to agree -- Lwaxana Troi is my LEAST favorite character by a long shot. There were a couple episodes where she wasn't as obnoxious (like the DS9 episode mentioned - "The Forsaken").

message 18: by Sinda (new)

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments Okay, I'm not that far in to Deep Space Nine- I just started season 2. But I HATE Vedek Winn.

Yeah, but in her defense, you are supposed to.

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments Yep.

Adam Collings (adamcollings) | 3 comments Winn is an awesome villain. The kind of character we love to hate.

message 22: by Sinda (new)

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments At the moment I just don't want her anywhere near where I am. I'm on ds9 season 2 episode 5.

message 23: by Todd (last edited Apr 12, 2013 12:33AM) (new)

Todd (nerdytodd) I hated Doctor Pulaski. Probably mostly because she was so mean to Data who was probably my favorite TNG character. Pulaski was just a B**CH for, like, no reason!

Side note, Diana Muldaur also played two characters in TOS and after realizing that, I hated them too. That is how much I hated Pulaski. lol

No way! I love Lwaxana Troi!! Plus, you can't hate Majel Barrett Roddenberry , Gene Roddenberry's wife, the computer in MOST of the Star Treks, and Nurse Christine & Number One in TOS, she is a TREK LEGEND!!!

I started off hating her because I really liked Dr. Crusher, but I guess I got used to her because by the end of S2, I didn't mind her anymore.
Deanna Troi annoys me, mainly because she's always "I feel something but I can't put my finger on it" and sure, sometimes it's useful, but I just find her rather obnoxious and blah.
Also Q. Currently doing a rewatch of TNG and am so tempted to skip his episodes because he's just pointless in my opinion!

message 27: by Jody (new)

Jody | 7 comments Kes and Pulaski, definitely. And now thanks to the Titan books, Riker is becoming that way. He was never my favorite on TNG, but I tolerated him must of the times and enjoyed him a few others. But with the Titan books I found myself wanting him to become a redshirt on an away mission and have Comm. Vale take over.

David Lebron | 1 comments Wesley Crusher & Troi's mother. Hands down!

message 29: by Julio (new)

Julio | 4 comments Harry Kim and definitely Kai Winn!

message 30: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 32 comments Ooooo I hate Kai Winn. But she's so deliciously evil that I kinda love her too. LOL

message 31: by Sinda (new)

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments I hate Vedek Bareil so much I would gladly punch him in the face.

message 32: by Julio (new)

Julio | 4 comments haha i just plain hated her.

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments I hate Winn and Bareil. I just hate them so much.

message 34: by Julio (new)

Julio | 4 comments a punch in the face...thats a lot of hate haha. i took a little pleasure when kai winn got killed off in the end. i was like, its about damn time!

message 35: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 32 comments I just saw Dr. Pulaski in an old 'Murder She Wrote' episode. I say 'Dr. Pulaski' rather than Diana Muldaur because it was Dr. Pulaski, just not in a Starfleet uniform. UGH.

message 36: by Sinda (new)

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 13 comments Well, I just saw Deep Space Nine season 3 episode 13, Life Support, and I have celebrated because Bareil is no more.

Shadowdenizen | 14 comments Gotta go with Vic Fontaine. He needs to be shoved out of an airlock, hologram or not.

message 38: by Ken (new)

Ken (kensamcampo) Dianna's mom, oh and ugh Rom, just somebody get him out of there.

message 39: by Ivy_359 (new)

Ivy_359 (gods_silliest_jester) You last to people are wrong! In my eyes.
Have you noticed that the not-main-character Vulcans are annoying?

message 40: by Nette (new)

Nette Guess (sillynette) | 1 comments Mud is a great one to hate. I didn’t like Q in TNG but he grew on me in Voyager. I absolutely dislike Kes. Her low voice, her useless input. Hi y’all! I’m new here! I’m gonna participate in the current books as soon as I finish Black Widow: Forever Red. Cheers!

message 41: by Lee (new)

Lee | 7 comments Q is the one that pops to my mind when this question comes up. I've never been a great fan of episodes in which the crew meets a much more powerful being, and Q was that, ramped up a lot.

Having said that, I recognize that it's a great portrayal and suitably annoying like he's designed to be.

message 42: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) I like the cosmic characters, just find the limits of a television budget can let them down.
Really enjoy Q in the novels, when writers don't have to worry about paying for cgi and can just go wild with his powers.
