The Host discussion

Pure sauntered through the entrance of the mall. Though she rather enjoyed picking up new fashion trends and making sure she had clothes to compliment her pretty face, she wasn't in a shopping mood... surprisingly. However, she came anyway, as she believed if she saw anything at least decent enough to pique her interest, she would be put into a shopping mood. Pulling out the device called a 'phone,' she began texting a few friends, not paying attention to where she was going as usual. For some reason, though, she never believed she would run into anything or anyone.

Eric walked around the mall. Not really taking interest in the shops. He was playing a game on his phone. Suddenly he ran into someone. "Hey watch-" he began but then recognized the girl. "Oh its a Seeker."

Pure squeaked slightly as she collided into someone, her finger losing her grip on her prized cellphone. These human contraptions were so addicting and as much as she knew it was healthy to get away, she couldn't leave the phone alone. She had never felt anything so... obsessive in her life."Oh, I am so sorry!" She squeaked, obviously nervous as she rushed to pick up her phone. Dusting her clothes off, she cleared her throat."I wasn't watching where I was headed... sorry again." This time her voice was relatively calm, but she was obviously still nervous.

One of Eric's eyebrows raised, "Aren't Seekers all..." he started but shook his head, clearing away the thought. "It's fine, it was completely my fault. Should of watched where I was going." he told her. Running a hand through his brown hair.

As soon as those words escaped his mouth she grinned; so he wasn't mad at her... good."Oh, I'm glad to hear that," she alleged, holding her phone close to her chest, feeling the heat of the electronic device through her shirt. Her eyebrows then furrowed and her lips puckered slightly. Then she obtained a sudden wide eyed, arched eyebrows looked."Oh, so you are a seeker as well? My apologies for not recognizing your face earlier." She grew fidgety again and pulled on her skirt, tidying up herself out of nervous habit.

Rook walked into the mall with nothing in particular to do. He passed by the pair talking and continued to examine the shops.

Rook noticed the sisters. Sister souls? That was unusual. They must have requested to be put together. He smiled to himself and looked back at the windows.

Pure happened to glance away from the man's gaze, taking heed to the scientist nearby. She had seen his face somewhere, but she did not know exactly what it was that he studied. Being her socially awkward self, she tried to figure out a way to gain his attention. Waving her hand offhandedly, she cleared her throat, making a small sound."Excuse me..." She called, hoping to gain his attention.

Eric could tell the the lady Seeker was nervous. Maybe she was new?
He looked where she had called. "Do you know him?" he asked as she called over a scientist.

"No..." She answered simply, glancing at him."I'm just curious." Brushing a stray strand of hair from her face, as it had gotten stuck to her lip with the lip gloss she was wearing, she glanced at the scientist one more time, trusting he might have heard her."Oh! Where are my manners?" Gently hitting herself on the head with the soft palm of her hand she then held out her hand to request a handshake."My name is Pure."

Eric modded, smiling slightly, "Nice to meet you Pure. I'm Eric." he replied.

"Ahem," she exclaimed, her cerulean eyes flickering down to her waiting hand."Are you going to shake my hand?" She asked him, her tone suddenly confident and sassy, but it was all meant to amuse. She was serious about the handshake, however.

Slowly, to make her impatient he reached his hand towards hers and shook it. A grin growing on his lips the entire time.

Rook then walked back and bumped into Violet.
"Oh excuse me!" He said, turning around.

She could tell, by his slow movements, that he was trying to tease her. When she glanced up, any doubts were erased as there was a grin plastered on his face."You've got a sense of humor; interesting." Taking her hand back, she smoothed out her hair."So what are you doing here at the mall? You don't seem too set on shopping..." She murmured.

"You're right, I'm not shopping," Eric said. "I'm just thinking. Walking around with others seems to help. Are you here for shopping?" he asked.

"You could say that..." Her voice trailed off for a second, her lips pursing."I usually like to shop, but I wasn't in the mood. However, if I find something interesting enough, I'll buy it." She then laughed gently, holding up her phone."But as you can see, I wasn't really paying attention." She then looked up into his eyes, smirking."Now what were you thinking about, mister? To me, it seemed like you were playing on that phone."

Eric chuckled, "Yes I was. I was actually taking a break from my thinking." he looked into her eyes, "And what I was thinking about is confidential. So no I can't tell you."

Her eyebrows furrowed, her face gaining a childish look as he mentioned keeping his train of thought a secret. She could respect his wishes, but now she was really curious; secrets always beckoned her forward."If you say so," she murmured, shrugging the strap of her satchel higher up on her shoulders, as it had begun to slip."Would you like to hang out with me, Eric? I can't let a handsome young man such as yourself walk alone," she alleged, grinning from ear to ear.

Eric smirked, "And I wouldn't let a pretty face like yours do them same..." he said, but in a less striking way then usual. He kind of actually liked Pure.

"Well come along then." Without a second notice, she hooked her free arm in his and began walking, glancing up at him as she was probably a few inches shorter by comparison. If only she had wore her heels today instead of the flats."So Eric, tell me a little about yourself..." She suggested.

"Well I'm a Seeker. But you already knew that." Eric said. "There isn't much else to me. I live in this host to hunt down humans." he didn't smile. Even though he was a tough guy he still didn't love the violence that came with the job of being a Seeker.

"I'm not the best Seeker... I'm actually quite clumsy," she informed him, a small laugh escaping her lips."But I try my best." Taking regard to his set expression, she looked confused for a moment."You don't like your job?" She asked him, canting her head to the side.

"No I do," Eric said, "But some things that come along with the job can be... disturbing." he said, looking at Pure from the corner of his eye.

"What do you mean?" They didn't harm the humans, did they? That wasn't part of the job. Perhaps it was... the humans themselves. Maybe they did crazy things to avoid being captured. Perhaps they commited suicide -- but it couldn't be possible that his job was purposely harming the humans. Harming those people meant harm for the souls being placed in the host.

"No. It's catching the humans before they have souls put into them. You know that we have to dispose of the older ones right on the stop, don't you?" Eric asked her, his eyes a little wider.

Pure suddenly stopped, right in her tracks, gripping Eric's arm tightly with her freshly manicured nails. With pursed lips and furrowed eyebrows, she glared at the ground. She supposed it made sense, but it was shocking nonetheless."No, I didn't... no one ever told me..." She murmured. She figured people didn't tell her given her sensitivity."I'm always there when there is someone young... Relatively at the least."

Eric touched her shoulder. He had not meant to scare her. "It's ok Pure. It's what has to be done. For the good of the planet. Humans know nothing but hate, violence and destruction." he tried to reason with her.

Pure glanced up from the ground to Eric. It was true... the planet was suffering, and with the humans practically gone and subdued, the earth could heal while the souls were there to reign."Still, its just sad." Her hold lessened on his arm and she let go eventually, absently tucking her hair behind her ear."As you can see, I am an awful Seeker." She laughed, lightening her own mood.

"You just have to get used to it," Eric told her reassuringly, "Then it won't be as sad. I promise."

"And you are already used to it?" She asked him, staring past his shoulder instead of giving him direct eye contact."I can't see myself killing people though..."

Eric looked at his feet, sort of ashamed, "Well its not as bad when they fight back. Which they usually do. They are very violent. Many Seekers have died trying to catch them."

She gently pushed his shoulder, as if to tell him he did not need to be ashamed."I agree... Have you seen any of the movies or the shows they had on air the first few days we came here?" She pulled a disgust face."There was a lot of blood and gore in many of them... and... Reproduction. I can't see how humans enjoy watching something so intimate between two people... that should be kept private." She then smiled, canting her head to the side."Plus, as long as the Soul itself isn't harmed, they can get a new host, no?"

"Yes humans had a sick way of getting pleasure out of that sort of thing..." Eric agreed with a disgusted look on his face. "And yeah sometimes. But it depends on how much time the host body is dead... Sometimes help gets there too late..."

"Oh my..." She really needed to study up on the rules of their ways relating to host bodies."We shouldn't dwell on this..." She proclaimed, hooking her arm in his again."What were your plans today, Eric?" Pure asked."Did you mean to walk around the mall all day?" She asked, taunting.

"Of course not," Eric said, "But I didn't have any other plans besides this."

"Do you want to come to my house then?" She asked, her blue orbs wide with hope as she glanced up at him. There wasn't much she could offer there, but it always got so lonely in such a large house and she didn't know what to do with most of it."I can cook you something, or maybe we can watch a few movies..." She murmured, biting, softly, her bottom lip. She then checked the watch on her wrist."And by human standards, I believe night will be falling soon..."

"I'd love to," Eric said with a smile.

"Oh, goody!" She squeaked, tugging lightly on his arm as she lead him the other way back toward the exit where she had come in about an hour ago."I'll try to entertain you, I promise." She grinned up at him, acting more like a child now than anything.
