A shiver crept down Eli’s spine as he took his first step inside; the passage was cold, damp, and dark-not a good combination. The cold was particularly bothersome to Eli. He had grown up in a place where it was almost always warm, even when it rained. Maybe the lowest it got was 40 and that was only during two months of the year. But, while Eli always loved basking in the sun, for once he was happy to be in total darkness. If someone came down the passage, they’d have to be carrying a torch, so he, Jamie, and Maya could either hide, or Eli could charm the person into turning around and leading the way back, all the while Maya and Jamie following behind out of sight. Hopefully, they wouldn’t run into anyone, although he found it strange that the passage was out of use. It was always supposed to be lit.

Maya's grip tightened on Eli's hand, as well as Jamie's. The smell was damp, and misty. Is this how a passage feels like?
"There normally is. I'm not sure why it's out, but it's lucky for us because we'll probably not run into anyone. Don't worry, I've used this path all the time, I don't need light to know where to go." Eli began walking down the path, staying slightly ahead of the others and keeping his hand against the wall to have a sense of where they were.
"Because it's a creepy passage in a castle, wouldn't be complete without being damp." Eli said this in a cheerful tone to help lighten the mood, it really wasn't that bad.
Eli laughed not knowing what she was talking about and secretly hoping he would never have to find out. They continued down the hallway, with the sound of their footsteps echoing throughout the passage. About half-way there the passage became alive with the sounds of the castle, conversations and activity filled Eli's ears.
((hey Julie, i posted at the grand hall))
((really? i will re-do it. 2 min))
"That's the plan. Unless you want to see my head on the mantle piece. Don't worry about the noise, we're probably next to the kitchen, they've been preparing dinner for like the last month. The walls are thick, but they're stone, so there are creeks and holes that let noise in.)(Hey can we have an overlord section? Like a thread that tells people where to be at certain times. It seems we're slowly moving towards dinner, but everyone needs to know when to be there. Course, we shouldn't go to dinner quite yet, people can finish out their storylines.)
((k sure i will make a topic))
"Um, a freckle past a hair?" That was good question, one that had been bothering Eli, it was before noon when he had first gone into the garden, but judging by where the sun was before they went into the passage, it was nearing five. "Don't worry, you should have at least an hour if not two to get ready for dinner. That is as long as we don't run into anymore problems."
"Hey, don't worry about it." Eli wanted to put his hand on Jamie's shoulder, but it was dark and he couldn't tell exactly where it was. Missing could be bad. "Look every one of the other girls here is going to be nervous, and if they aren't then they're insane. We're talking about a potential partner, a lifelong commitment. You aren't the only one who is nervous, don't let him know I told you this, but Prince Aaron has been pacing the castle ever since they started talking about the selection. It's like he's trying to win a medal…And don’t worry about your stutter either, it’s kind of cute.”
Ohohohohoho. Maya grinned in the darkness, and at that time, she let go of their hands. Maya turned around and felt the walls, to guide herself back to the hallway.
Maya looked at the ground and shuffled her feet shyly. "Uh yeah, I forgot. But it was funny messing with that sucker." She said, meaning Eli.
When she heard the word 'troll' her lip quivered, and she hid behind Jamie's dress. She was faking of course, because she had mutual feelings about Eli. That liar.
"Honestly, I thought they banned trolls from the palace eons ago." Eli was a little irked. He didn't have anytime to waste, so getting played by a little girl wasn't that amusing to him. Later on, if he ever got in the clear it might be, but right now he was thinking about really hanging her by her toes.
"Yeah, we should go, but just know I'm friends with one of the chefs, I'm sure they could always use an extra turkey to stuff." Even though he wasn't exactly sure where Maya was, he still stuck his tongue out at her general direction. Little brat. Eli continued walking down the hallway this time choosing to keep his hands in his pockets rather than hold anyone’s hand.
"I have no feelings for you. If they do turn out like me, I will be sitting down laughing at you." Maya squeezed Jamie's hand and increased her pace, practically yanking Jamie foward.
"Well at least you're aware you're a devil." Eli felt Maya try to rush past him, so he yanked the back of her shirt and threw her over his shoulder. "Now let's continue."
"Put me down!" she whined, kicking and struggling to get out of his grasp. Maya pinched his ear and yanked it.
"OW! She pulled my ear!" Just before Eli was going to drop Maya on her rear-end, he noticed a light up ahead, probably from under a door.
"Yeah, unless I'm hallucinating. Did she pull my ear off? Is the blood flowing down my face? What is this strange feeling?" The light brought back Eli's good mood, this mess was almost over with.
Eli's neck flushed at the contact. The hallway was cold but Jamie's hand was hot. “That’s a relief,” he laughed. They reached outside the door and he put Maya down. "Okay, I'm going to peak my head out and tell you when it's clear."
(um new section? I'm thinking it's around the kitchen or laundry, where the maids, waiters, and basically "backstage" people are. Or should I just continue here?)
(is it okay if I make some side characters? they aren't major or anything just people who would know Eli(meaning can I add people without making big profiles for them))
Dimitri and Aiden were already at the end of the passage holding up the King and Aspen. The trip had been successful for Aspen, Aiden didn't want to be guard anymore, or have anything to do with the palace. Just because he could fight didn't mean he wanted to. He could still see the blood from Dimitri taking out the rebels who got in their way when coming here. The others came in a frightened mess. When Lyra saw Aiden she left the Queen for the first time and threw her arms around him. She started crying. Aiden had to give his dad to Dimitri to hold her. "It's going to be okay.""No it's not. You didn't see all the blood. So many people. They're all dead."
"I saw enough. Just...It's...I'm so sorry." Aiden couldn't form the words. Barry and Mrs. Tinsley got on the ship. Originally, Eli was going to come all the way to the palace, but they didn’t want to wait that long, so they were going to meet him half way in a smaller ship, that had seats, but not rooms. People started getting on board. Hayden and Felix were the last to get on with Natsumi and Aaron.
When Lyra saw Aaron she let go of Aiden and ran over to him. Aiden felt empty not hugging her. Hayden let Lyra hold onto him so he could go talk to Jamie. He took off his helmet. His curls were plastered to his head, but the sea breeze felt nice. "Hey."
Willa had seen fights, even been a part of them, but this had been violence on a whole new level to her. Her sprained wrist had been accidentily punched by someone during the commotion and was now throbbing, but that was the most of her injuries. She saw Valerie on the other side of the room,"Are you ok?" She asked her, just needing to talk to someone.
Adrianna tried to make herself look presentable, applying more lipstick and trying to smooth down her hair. No one was to see she has been quite shaken by the whole event.
"The rebels are dangerous. We can't take any chances. This time they got really close. It's because we had a traitor...Don't repeat this."
"I wish you hadn't." He got the urge to lean forward and kiss her forehead, but there were too many people so he resisted.
Hayden put his arm around her to support her. He felt strange. There was no guilt over killing so many rebels, yet he had felt guilty about killing the English King. Maybe it had been seeing Madeline hurt that had traumatized him. But, he definitely felt different. It was like his head was foggy and there was a pain in his chest. His body began to tremble and he had to shut his eyes from a pain in his head. Everything came rushing at him at once. What happened almost four years ago, never taking a break from his job ever, having to hide every day of his life… Hayden opened his eyes, but his vision became obstructed with black splotches. He couldn't feel Jamie anymore and all the fight he had clung to deep inside him drained out. There was a sense of falling, but Hayden wasn’t able to prevent it. Then the blackness overcame him.
Julie wrote: "Jamie looked up, "H-hey," she said, trembling from the past few hours, "Are you okay Hayden? Are you hurt?" She stood up and scanned him with her eyes, seeing no obvious injuries. She had been wo...""Oh, don't worry about me, I'll be fine." Willa said, attempting a small smile. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Hayden fall.
"Oh my God..." She said. Willa and Adrianna both hurried over to see what happened.
"Is he ok?" Adrianna asked.
"Excuse me, excuse me," came the awkward voice of Dr. Zomer. He knelt next to Jamie and checked the boy's pulse. It was fine, slow, but mostly that was because he passed out. "He's okay. This is probably a result from over exhaustion. I think he's been fighting more than any of the other guards. It looks like the other ship has beds, I'll move him over there." In vain, Dr. Zomer tried to pick up Hayden, but he was too weak. Aiden came over and lugged him up. He carried him over to the other ship with Eli's help on the other side. They placed Hayden in a bedroom under the ship.
Dr. Zomer took Hayden's armor off, and sighed at all the scars over the boy's back and parts of his chest. "Geez, how many rebels were there?" Asked Eli. "Those are healed scars...a belt buckle I would guess." Dr. Zomer said this quietly.
Eli didn't know how to respond. It felt like only minutes ago he was speculating with Madeline that he had been abused, but seeing the scars was completely different than talking about it.
Madeline was worried. "is there any way me and Dr.Jane can help?" she asked Dr.Zomer.
